I had my 330e aux battery changed under warranty at BMW sytner in Harold Wood London, it cost the warranty more than £ 800 !! You saved some dollars there.👍 I do get another 2 years of cover on the parts replaced & I'm jumping into BMW's comprehensive warranty when this current one runs out in June. Just £560 a year.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. I was plagued with Drivetrain faults and stop/start errors. I also noticed my 12v starter was no longer being used to start the engine, but rather the electric motor. Eventually the problem became worse and I was under the impression my starter system had a fault ($$$). A new Aux battery for around 65$ resolve the issue following your guidance. Car is perfect now. Who knew a small 12v batter could cause so much trouble with no clear error code/warning on iDrive.
Took 1 hour total to change. The hardest part is figuring the bottom left plastic clamp on the battery and the clip on the high voltage connector pushing it back in.
Glad to hear the video helped! Yes the plastic clip on the battery is a bit tricky. Will be posting some more possible issues to lookout for so subscribe and turn the notification bell on not to miss the videos.
Agreed! I had the same experience with mine as soon as I started it afterwards fault deleted itself too! One step to avoid extra headache is I disconnected the HV battery but didn’t disconnect my boot battery which means no need to register! So no need for any obd2

I did sadly lock my trunk and my back seats don't move, but I managed to jump start it to access it again.

Worked also for me, didnt go for max edrive and start & stop didnt work so the petrol engine was always on. I didnt have any error codes or warnings from the car. Last night before I changed the battery (190€ in workshop) after driving I got the electrics back like 15mins and after that the car smelled like death, I opened the hood etc and the battery was boiling so I had to tow it in the workshop because they said it could burn 😂
Do you know where to find a replacement positive wire? Can't find it anywhere I've looked. Thanks in advance

What error code were you getting with this issue?
This all worked great for me. Had drive train issue and the car was a little jumpy when going from battery to engine. Only issue I found was closing the high voltage switch in the trunk was a bit tricky.

@@one_quiet_guy4074 when I went to do it I also noticed corrosion on the battery terminals. I sanded them and put grease on them. I replaced the battery also but it could have just been the terminals. So check that before you splash out. I got battery in Halfords with their own brand one. Had to get bmw to remove the error though. (my dad bought a brand new car there so they owed him a favour).

@@TriniVlogs hey my bro need help! I have a drivetrain malfunction msg come up a few times in the space of a few days? Also the stop start mode off keeps coming on? I have to press start button to reactivate this? When switching from electric range when's runs out back to the combustion engine a little tugback and drivetrain malfunction drive moderately msg came up on idrive? Any advice do you think it's worth changing the Auxiliary battery first?

yes that could be a sign. you would need to scan it to confirm
When I searched the new battery number that you fitted it says not for stop start, have you had any issue with the battery lasting long term?
yes only last 2-3 years but that's the battery bmw used. may have been a mistake on their part

yes you can register it as well!
no you dont need to register auxiliary battery...you only need to register normal battery in the trunk

@@benkr5870 front battery is auxiliary battery. its to spin starter motor to start the engine. rear battery is normal 12v battery like other vehicle. both battery are charged by high voltage (hybrid) battery via charging module. No alternator for 330e.

My car is a little jumpy when the combustion engine is on and I give it some gas even gently (the car shakes as I press when stationary) I do have aged battery code but could this be the issue or is it something else?
There can be something else causing this issue. You can check your engine mounts for the shaking when stationary.
Because my car has been sitting without being turned on the car doesnt want to start could this fix my car if I change it.

I have a 2017 bmw 330E. After the batter installation. Do it have to be recalibration. Or any computer resetting??
Yes the battery needs to be coded in otherwise there will be premature failure of the battery from it being overcharged by the car's charging system. The charging voltage is increased as the battery ages so by coding in a new battery the vehicle then knows to reset the charging voltage to a new battery requirements.

You can have the auxiliary battery tested with a Multimeter. It's a very simple process. Please do this before changing your Starter because it's usually the auxiliary battery that causes issues.
I have a 2016 330E And they replaced my auxiliary battery about a year ago. I now notice though when I use my electric air pump if I don’t have the ignition switched on it is not as strong. Do you notice the same
havent noticed any issues like that. did they replace it with the same cranking ampeerage?

The front battery is for starting ? And for what is the rear battery ? are they agm batterys or normal batterys ?
I believe the auxiliary battery (in the engine bay) is used as a backup to the starting battery (in the trunk/boot) and assists with the engine start/stop and other systems that require power while the engine is off to put less strain on the main battery and alternator.
@@TriniVlogs The front is used to start the engine and it is used only for that purpose. It is even galvanically separated from other 12V systems of the car. The reason behind it that the frequent starts would pull the voltage of the car so they decided to totally separate.
I keep getting "key fob battery low" changed it 3 times and it's the same. Could this be the issue?

What about registering battery..?
Yes battery registration need to be done after battery replacement. I use ISTA to do the registration. You can check a shop to do yours if you don't have a software to do such

It would be best to get the correct battery as the regular one may work but will be damaged quickly
Hi thanks for quick reply I really appreciate that what was I trying to say is that the battery you use in video vatara b36 that battery is does not support start and stop is that normal cuz I install same battery and mu car don't go in hybrid mode engine running all the time
I have a problem in my 330e car and i dont know if you can help. The hybrid battery if full and its charging well but the car is not using it. There are no errors but still the car goes on benzin and its not using the electric.
Did you find out was the auxiliary battery the reason for this? My 330e started to make the same thing today like yours.
@@RecreatedI yes this is what they told me from the service. The auxiliary battery must be replaced and a cable also. I have an appointment at the end of the month.
Mine was fixed after new battery, hope yours are as well.

what OEM battary capacity in trunk on 330e? 90ah?
Yes 90AH battery. Be sure to get the new battery coded in after replacement or else the life of the new battery will be drastically reduced.
I changed the battery, everything well.
But, when i try to switch on the high voltage battery the connect is completly stuck. I put in the screwdriver to unlock and try to push in the red thingy in, and nothing happens. I can push as hard as i want but it seems stuck?? Anyone tips & Tricks to solve this?
Edit: Solved, you need to bend the red clip a little towards the green unit and it slides in without any force or problem. So unlock by simultaneously place the screwdriver at the side and by 'bending' the red slide a little.
p.s. ISTA has a Aux battery exchange registration function! So i guess you should register it.
Hey, which type of battery did you use as replacement. In the video Varta is used but its starting current is 420A and the OEM one is 480A.
I used the VARTA Blue Dynamic B36. it's still running great!@@kardkovacsi
