Love the posts with the branch stumps. The way to keep the poles from rotting in the ground is to burn them.

As far as wet vs dry pouring, here is a 20min video that will show the difference. TLDR yes dry pouring will harden, but it is much much more brittle than wet pouring. ruclips.net/video/3D11YX_DhZA/видео.html

You really need to replace your fence wire with 2 x 4 non climb wire - 5 ft is good. Critters can climb through your current wire and get your chickens. I speak from experience . Foxes will go right through your fence and kill your chickens, especially when they’re raising their own babies We lost 3 in one day.

we're building a different fence for the chickens and it will be much better defense for them :)

Great to see you guys moving toward spring! Y'all maybe plan for a reinforced coop if you havent. Small holes in the wire (like wrap it with chicken wire or hardware cloth) and a covered enclosure, plus chicken wire at the bottom and laid horizontally a couple of feet out from the fence. (This stops predators from digging under). Everything on the planet goes after chickens. It can be discouraging if you arent planning for it. ❤❤ edited to add: Fencing is such hard work. Great effort!

      Thanks!
We’re doing 4-5 feet of chicken wire from the ground up. I’m gonna put metal wire over the top. And dig in a rock border along the entire bottom. I’ll reinforce anywhere else needed.
      Thanks for watching!

An idea for the top layer of fencing, light weight and Easy to attach to the tree posts your adding in, would be bird netting or even that green plastic fencing with one inch squares. My mom lived Way out in the boonies had a Huge deer problem and didn't have to worry about what everyone else thought, so she bought that orange netting they sell at Home Depot and installed that above her garden fence. By the time she got done her fence was like 14 feet high. It wasn't pretty but her garden sure was!

Yea I’ve thought of a few ideas like that. I’m walking a fine line between looking good and also being cheap and practical. I have a feeling it will look good at first and get uglier as I fix where the deer are jumping it. Haha

@@travisjantzeri wouldnt worry much abt looks at first. Get it functional so you can grow food. Between rabbits and other critters. You'll have plenty of things to deal with without the deer. You might consider some of the green stuff rather than bird netting because Im guessing the number of songbirds that will damage may be unacceptable to your wife and the little ones. ( it broke my heart every time one got caught so I switched to other options.)

@@travisjantzerI'm happy to hear you got it. I planted a Lot of my own Zinnia seeds, same as the ones I sent you, and the germination rate has been pretty low, so far. I did scatter them on the ground so some may have been taken by the birds. Hopefully you will have better results but you may want to go ahead and buy some seeds to plant as well.

@@krickette5569 she let it go where she found it but I suspect she’ll catch more another time.
