Thank you for sharing this. The beauty of Utah brings me to tears. It was one my late wife’s favorite destinations. I wish I could share this with her.
Watching this video reminded me of the 1st video I watched of yours. I was awed, I still am. What sticks with me most that I love, is your excitement over the night sky. Again, I was reminded of it watching this video. I too, bubble with joy when I am photographing the stars. I will always remember you and give thanks when I am out there...I will know, you are out there too.
Alyn: You really took advantage of that Marlboro Point location - I was near there2 weeks ago and now regret I didn't explore that excellent viewpoint. Great job, as usual!
That moment in the beginning of you saying wow.... I so know how you felt. I experienced that multiple times during my Roadtrip. Just breathtaking. Utah especially was incredible. So grateful I got to experience it.
Beautiful work! This video proves the best and most rewarding events of the scientific and natural world require a lot of work. I've chased the night sky (to get as low a Bortle sky as possible) and solar eclipses. Worth it every time! Miss your night sky content! Rest easy, Alyn.
When I was in Viñales, Cuba 2 months ago, there was a clear night one day. We just came back from diner in the city when my eye caught the milky way. Excited as I was, I grabbed my camera and started making photos. There was some light pollution, but it was not too much. After a while, my GF went to the hotel room as she was getting tired. I stayed up, shooting some more pictures when suddenly there was a power black out. For a moment is was completely silent and pitch black and the milky way hit me like never before. It took another couple of hours before I went to bed and I took the best photo I ever made. I'll never forget that moment, just like you will never forget that moonrise moment. I really felt your exciment as I if it was me back in Cuba. Great video!
I felt that when the moon gave you a boost. Great moment. Thanks for sharing your expedition. Superb video quality with the full spectrum camera in the night. Just stunning. Great compositions and technique to get the final images. Real winners.
Oh, my....I'm pretty sure I know what he said and it cracked me up. I can understand your joy at accomplishing this while pretty worn out. That makes it heroic sort of.
Absolutely amazing. The amount of effort and energy you put in each and every video is just remarkable. Hats off 🙌 Keep up the great work man. Clear skies.
I used to watch few youtubers-photographers for a last 5 years, and you're the only one left with the bell for notifications!) Thank you for this incredible, stunning videos, Alyn! You inspires us!
Just amazing. What a location. I guess we all know that feeling when you can’t give it any more, pack up and head home - so glad you got the inspiration to push through.
What a vew! That vertical drop was a bit too vertical for my stomach, but everything else was sublime. Also, I grew up on LifeSavers. Glad they got you back to the van for a well deserved sleep.
That was some amazing photographs! Also cool you did get the faint Aurora in the image aswell. You are a great inspiration for us that lives in scandinavia when darknes is all day now. Clear skies.
Fantastic Alyn and what a result in the final part of the video, definitely rewarded for your effort. Really enjoying reading your book and seeing all the amazing images
And of course doing this by yourself means double distance for every hiking-shot … thanks for making the effort and sharing it, the result speaks for itself 🥰!
Thank you, Alan! I hope you had a nice trip to the Southwestern USA! I just came back from Arches and was thinking of you out there! Hope you come back here soon! From: Dallas, Texas.
Can you upload your videos in 1440P or 4K? RUclips compression makes 1080P videos crap, spatially at darker parts. Or if maybe you did uploaded them in 4K, but I watched them just after upload that RUclips didn’t processed the 4K version yet? Anyways, Brilliant video, Best of luck.
What an incredibly beautiful spot you found! Stunning photo's especially that last one. Love your continued enthusiasm! It is how I feel when I capture that shot that I am envisioning in my mind. By the way, loving your book ;)
Had a similar experience out at Dead Horse Point on a similar road trip a few years back. Incredible place, and I'm so glad you got to explore Utah's amazing night skies!
Bascially, the moon did light painting for the foreground providing this beautiful separation between dark and light and giving us this 3D view. Also, MW was perpendicular to the horizon with these faint clouds. Honsetly, with this perfect composition, this is one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL landscape astro images I've ever seen. However, I have two complains: 1- The color science of Sony does not look natural with this weird rusty orange cast 2- The star eater algorithm is apparent in the previous images. I expect that the sky had way more stars than those in the images in real life. 10/10 images. It is all about the skill and the artistic view that a photographer holds!
Thanks so much. Must admit, I'm struggling with the warm cast of the Sony a7IV images. Also, there's no star eater, I use star reduction on my images to make them feel cleaner.
Fantastic images. Mad you did not me a complete stranger! Next time you are here in Utah/Arizona. Check out Hunts Mesa at Monument Valley. I am talking myself into doing that next May.
Your reaction to the location is me every time, anywhere in the Southwest 🤯🤩🙌🏾 haha! & gummy candies are my backpacking/trail go-to as well, but SOURPATCH KIDS. Sour, sweet + salty, it helps in the desert particular. I'm lucky, my little island has Bortle 1-3 skies all within reach, so I'm used to seeing the MW brightly with my naked-eye...clear skies however is the tricky part being a tropical climate & the "wettest spot on earth" 😅 Those were absolutely insane images you captured! I like the one with the moonlight/shadows the most.
Wow…another awesome video! I’m very happy that you enjoyed your time in Utah photographing the Milky Way (your photos turned out amazing). You need to come back to the US for the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse. Even I’m looking forward to it (it will be my very first total solar eclipse).
A suggestion for a great place for night scapes is city of rocks in Idaho. It is bortle 1 and has amazing land scapes and tons of climbing. It is a short drive that can go through the top of the great salt lake and the salt flats in Utah until you reach City of rocks.
I watched a program about "animals at night" and they were using Sony infrared cameras for sure. The visual of the video looks exactly the same. In the video I watched you can see cheetahs hunting at night and all sorts of stuff like that. it was on Netflix. Clear skies. Welcome to America 🇺🇸
What an amazing experience, those sort of moments no doubt make it all worthwhile! Were you using you full mod camera for that final shot Alyn? Amazing landscape and Milky Way definition for video.
What a treat to have the rising moon create some natural light painting and add depth to your image. A lesson to all of us to 1) know what's happening with the moon cycle when we plan our shooting, and 2) be ready to shift gears if something better presents itself. I was recently in my home state of New Mexico, so I got to experience those dark southwestern skies. Not quite as dark as where you were, but still dark enough that I could see the Milky Way dust cloud within the city limits...and a half hour drive north or south put me in near bortle 1 conditions. I'm still processing the images I took.
Amazing what a little bit of adrenaline can do for an exhausted photographer. Definitely got to watch your step around those cliffs Alyn, it’s a deadly drop. Stay safe 🇦🇺
Incredible shots Alyn. I am actually heading to Moab in two days and so looking forward to seeing those sights in person. I will be packing some Red Vines.
It’s called Marlboro point because they used to photograph the Marlboro ads from the 60’s and 70’s. The park employees “don’t know of it” or just want to keep it secret. You can get there by walking, mountain bike or a lightweight dual sport motorcycle. I hiked out there after a snow storm alone about 6 years ago. I came across a young cow that was killed by possibly a cougar. Be careful.
Hello! Can I ask when did you go there? Me and my dad searching for good MilkyWay photo places and times, but we could not find anything good yet. Btw the video and the photos are amazing
Alyn, thanks for sharing your planning process for each shot, that was instructive, and of course the end results were stunning. Dialing back to the start of your planning process, when you realized Deadhorse Point would not provide an engaging foreground and turned to Google Earth to find a better alternative, I couldn’t resist turning to GE myself to discover where you might have ended up. I’m pretty sure I found the location. I won’t be surprised if on your next visit to Utah you rent an off-highway capable camper van.
great pictures.I HAVE A SONY A7Riii. Do you think with my tamron 20mm f2.8 in the right spot i should be able to get good milky way shots. Im planning on going to a Dark Skies State park in Florida
RIP thank you for everything
It's just so horrible.....
What happened?
I love the fact that, despite all of your very extensive experience and amazing skills, the night sky still has surprises for you. Great video.
our sky is so dynamic and beautiful that people who love it specially the night sky can never can never get tired of it :)
That last shot with the moonlight is spectacular. Would be nice to see if it printed well.
Thank you for sharing this. The beauty of Utah brings me to tears. It was one my late wife’s favorite destinations. I wish I could share this with her.

I love a little moonlight on the foreground. Amazing what it can do.
Those shadows are nuts!
Outstanding as always buddy delighted all of your planning worked out
great shots
especially the last one

Loved this Alyn. Well worth the walk. And jelly babies rule for me!
Thanks so much Nigel!
Late to the party on this one but wow! just wow! superb!
I felt that when the moon gave you a boost. Great moment. Thanks for sharing your expedition. Superb video quality with the full spectrum camera in the night. Just stunning. Great compositions and technique to get the final images. Real winners.
wow, what a location, so worth the hike for that view. Great shots as always
Fantastic. You grab life in both hands and it rewards you with spectacular photos!
Enjoyed the video and the moonlight shot's spectacular. The moonlight created a special moment and memory
Jeez, those moonlight shadows! Great vlog Alyn - as always.
Wow, all the shots were good but the last one with the moon light is just spectacular know wander you were smiling.
I went to Utah in 2021... Awesome dark sky....
Oh WOW! and holy cow! That last shot is the icing on the cake. Great vlog!
Oh, my....I'm pretty sure I know what he said and it cracked me up. I can understand your joy at accomplishing this while pretty worn out. That makes it heroic sort of.
Another Master piece Alyn.Thankyou

Wow thanks so much!
Wow well worth staying for that moonshine image. Stunning scenery :)
Just amazing. What a location. I guess we all know that feeling when you can’t give it any more, pack up and head home - so glad you got the inspiration to push through.
You make every effort worth! Thank you so much for your inspiration!
What a vew! That vertical drop was a bit too vertical for my stomach, but everything else was sublime. Also, I grew up on LifeSavers. Glad they got you back to the van for a well deserved sleep.
Sometimes the moon can be your friend. Liked your last composition, amazing!
What a blessed adventure, moonlight shadows are incredible
That was some amazing photographs! Also cool you did get the faint Aurora in the image aswell. You are a great inspiration for us that lives in scandinavia when darknes is all day now. Clear skies.
Stunning. Wonderful moments beyond words.
That Milkyway with the rock formation's shadow is really cool! 😍
Fantastic Alyn and what a result in the final part of the video, definitely rewarded for your effort. Really enjoying reading your book and seeing all the amazing images
Lov U Alyn, appreciate your work, U made the love of astronomy and astrophotography alive again
Thanks for the great content mate and what a top picture
Dude, Dead Horse Point is stunning at night! We sat outside and shot Neowise there. It was epic! 💪 Nice images.
Very good pics and the Trip was also awesome...
Just beautiful, Alyn! Those starry scenes never fail to give goosebumps.
AMAZING!!!! WIDE PANARAMA
What you do when you are Extremely tired is incredible Alyn
And of course doing this by yourself means double distance for every hiking-shot … thanks for making the effort and sharing it, the result speaks for itself 🥰!
Brilliant work!!!
Kick ass van. Is there a video about it?
An absolutely spectacular location, and stunning images totally doing it justice 👌
Amazing pictures, good work! 🤩
So beautifully demonstrated mr. Alyn 😀😀😀
Beautiful catch. That moon sure sets off the red rocks nicely. Me living in Utah would you be willing to share this specific location?
I've been to Dead Horse Point. Utah is an incredible place to see the night sky !!
2:16 Those mountains in the distance - do you think that could've been a good place to do astrophotography?
5:23 u can see there is storm in the bottom left Corner cuz u can see flares or idk what are they called
5.25 little left from middle
Yup so many storms during my time there!
Thank you, Alan! I hope you had a nice trip to the Southwestern USA! I just came back from Arches and was thinking of you out there! Hope you come back here soon! From: Dallas, Texas.

I've tried, it makes no difference. I film in 1080 and have no plans to film in 4K. Even if I upload in 4k there's no difference.
What an incredibly beautiful spot you found! Stunning photo's especially that last one. Love your continued enthusiasm! It is how I feel when I capture that shot that I am envisioning in my mind. By the way, loving your book ;)
love you bro. rest easy
Had a similar experience out at Dead Horse Point on a similar road trip a few years back. Incredible place, and I'm so glad you got to explore Utah's amazing night skies!
Nice one boyo, good advice
It funny that Life Savers are new to you. Cheers.
Well done

@@AlynWallace Ohhhh I see now! Then we're only left with the orange cast of the sony sensor! Otherwise, the images are masterpieces! 👏
going there in july exactly for that ! great view !!!
Fantastic images. Mad you did not me a complete stranger!
Next time you are here in Utah/Arizona. Check out Hunts Mesa at Monument Valley. I am talking myself into doing that next May.
Ah yes when the astrovlog music drops. 👍 Amazing vid.
Thank you!
Another stunner video Alyn! Like as you say, INCREDIBLE! The last shot was the cherry on top! Thanks, man for posting such inspiring videos!

Yup a lot of those documentaries film in IR.
Great video as always!
Wow that was inspiring! I can't wait for my Sigma 24mm comes so I can take some beautiful pictures of the bottoms of clouds!🤣

Nerds Gummy Clusters are the best candy ever. Period.
Amazing video! 👏
Planning a Utah trip for next October 2023 Solar eclipse. Any ideas on using a Skyguider to track the Sun for a time-lapse?
Rest in peace Alyn!
Hello! Can I ask when did you go there? Me and my dad searching for good MilkyWay photo places and times, but we could not find anything good yet.
Btw the video and the photos are amazing
Any time during Milky Way season will be great in Dead Horse Point State Park. There are overlooks all over the park. 👍
Is the A7S2 a good camera for night photography
Alyn, thanks for sharing your planning process for each shot, that was instructive, and of course the end results were stunning. Nice one 😁🤯
That looks amazing 3 dimension but the tripod location is quite dangerous, definitely need to scout in day time to be very safe.
Would you recommend the sony 12-24mm g master?
Can someone point me in the direction of the best camera to use for a beginner to this art form please.
great pictures.I HAVE A SONY A7Riii. Do you think with my tamron 20mm f2.8 in the right spot i should be able to get good milky way shots. Im planning on going to a Dark Skies State park in Florida
How well does the a7iv perform? I'm interested into buying one for astro.
Spectacular location which resulted in spectacular shots. Some of those places you setup looked a bit "hairy" but seems that you survived ok.
Uh can we get the wallpaper for that last photo? It's.....mind blowing.
