So happy to hear the happy pure joy in your voice Alyn. Good on you. Stay humble and keep capturing those stars. Off to research your book (know nothing about photography but love your videos).
I have the same “go- to” 114 celestron scope, bought used maybe 20 years ago. 2nd marriage, 6 kids in total later, I still look up and wish I could know more. But I have learned enough to enjoy your work. The joy that you allowed yourself to have on this trip (& the beer) was great, was my point. Dont get too stuffy and lose the joy. 7 years! Thats all! Amazing. iphone through the quality Barlow (phone and barlow being my nicest kit!) still have made my heart stir. Go capture those images - so many of us only dream of. TC!
this was phenomenal! i loved the last capture most but i need to watch again right now. i didn’t mind the way the moon came through. the whole vlog was priceless, thanks alyn!
Hey Alyn! Your photos are so incredible! How wonderful just to sit and enjoy the view! My favorite was the moon coming up in the center below the Milky Way arch and you standing on the left. The moonlit foreground was just beautiful!
Loved the pano, the level of detail in the whole image was incredible. Have your book on order and so looking forward to receiving it and to learn more about shooting the night sky
You’re such a huge inspiration man. Appreciate how humble you are in moments where things may not work out. Showing photos that just didn’t quite make it and of course the ones that did. It helps people like me not get so discouraged. If I had to choose which photo I’d say the pano with the arch. Killer lightning captures BTW. 🤙
“I’ve only got this one camera and I’m in a real hurry to get the shot, let me take a few minutes to tell you what a hurry I’m in and how I need to use this camera to take the photo… did I mention how time critical this is? Let me take another couple of minutes to explain how I’m running out of time…” hehe. Nice photos!
My favorite is you standing on left, and MW on right; the panorama view. They are all great. I'm waiting for delivery on your book. Excited about learning more good stuff. Another great panorama area is down in lower Texas at Big Bend. Very dark skies, full access to all horizons, and who doesn't like the night time serenade of javelinas?
Hi Alyn. I got you book this friday (Hardcover, signed). Its amazing. Period. The photographs are amazing and so are their prints. There is a ton to read and also to learn from - at any level. Its a 575 pages monster encyclopedia about what to photograph on the night sky - not just stars! It withstands a 9mm bullet (not testest, no need to ruin this masterpiece). Thank you!
Awesome video and experience Alyn!!! My favorite is the panorama where you included the moon, you, and the Milky Way. Excellent !! Can't wait to order your book!
I was there with Brad who shot the winning image a few years ago shooting that spot. If you zoom in on his shot you can see that his subject stood so still that even the cable release on the guys camera was sharp in the image. I did a 12 shot pano from this spot that turned out amazing.
Awesome video, as always! I just purchased your presets & can't wait to get out this year. Any recommendations for June/July/August dates for the MW and Moon rise you referenced? Thanks for all you do!
I really liked the time lapse of the moon rising! I'm looking forward to your calendar for 2023! I ordered one for 2022 but, it never got here. So, cross my fingers, 2023 WILL! From one Alan to another Alyn, thanks for making these.
I am from Utah and I love the dark skies you can find there. Bryce Canyon is a good spot. The upper campground at Great Basin National Park is good also but not open like the shots you took. My favorite was the panorama with you in it.
Lucky you to have received a cold beer in the middle of nowhere! (German tourists are, in my opinion, always some of the nicest!) My personal favourite photo was the panoramic shot with you on the left - just something really special and unique about it. Well done!!
What awesome Photos Alyn.I loved them all,my favourite though is the Full Panoramic with yourself,The Moon and The Milky Way.Still waiting on delivery of your book. Can’t wait to see it.John
Hey Alan! Love the images! Love your passion! Love your excitement! LOVE your opening titles! It's videos like this that have me sitting in front of my computer monitor grinning like a Cheshire cat because they're so much fun!
Hi Alyn. I’ve been watching your channel for quite some time and love your videos. I love all your images but probably the Milky Way pano with the moon in the middle and you on the left is my favorite. I just ordered your book. Can’t wait to get it !!
Beautiful video. So much to learn from it. Last Friday I received your book. What a massive piece of work. An absolutely outstanding compendium, or better an encyclopedia in one heavy book.
Thanks for the inspiration Alyn. Time to fire up the SLR and spend a night on The Gower and and The Beacons. If I can get anything ten percent as good as yours I'll be well pleased.
I like that last shot best, although the pano was impressive, too. And yup, that was the spot Brad Goldpaint took his Astronomy Photograph of the Year. He took us there several nights on a workshop this past April. I recognize a couple places where I set my camera for my shots. Glad you were handed a well-deserved beer! 😊
Hi Alyn. Glad you are enjoying Utah. We are really fortunate here in Arizona and Utah to have such great landscapes to photograph. I really enjoyed your photos but the star trails at the end of your vlog was easily my favorite. I really liked how the star trails went in different directions and the moon having its own trail in the center. If you have a chance, check out the Grand Falls and / or The Wave. You shouldn’t be too far from either one. Safe travels!
another great one, you keep topping yourself. The pano was the best!, but you had a long delay to get yourself over there!, and set that intervalometer, to keep taking them!, cheers
Since I too have an astromoded camera from Spencer's Camera's, I was looking for a "visible light filter", as you suggested. Couldn't find one. Can you recommend, preferably a cliip in?
I liked it all brother all the images.. I seen the milky way I looked absolutely beautiful. I took screenshots to share with my friends. I had my friend in Vietnam watch with me from Canada western Canada
My attempt at replicating the astronomy photograph of the year may have been a less clickbaity-y title. But none the less, excellent job and love your videos of the setups out in the field.
Beautiful images, can you give me a hint of the issues you are having with your Full spectrum filters I am about to convert my z7ll for night and day stuff I was going to go for the clip ins possibly how’s the H-alpha filter?
Awesome Alyn! Cool episode and that last pano is def amazing also the star and moon trail is very interesting even though the moon is blown out it looks nice, I've only done a moon trail once using ND filters to get a way better exposure and trail and its a really cool and underrated technique.
Lovely work, and the joyful bliss you find in it comes through and gently enriches the moment for a huge circle of grateful viewers. I personally find the interplay of the star trail's dependence on declination and the off-axis field curvature from the lens to be both beautiful and totally fascinating at a pure astrophotog nerd level. Well done sir! 👏🏼 🤓🖖🌠
Utah has had considerable monsoonal moisture this year overflowing from the south. I tried Spencers once and was quite disappointed in his performance. As to your pictures and narrative, always has been a pleasure seeing what you have to say and show.
Great video. I couldn’t pick a favorite photo. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one that watches storms while listening to music and having a beer. 😂. But I stay on my back porch, close to the safety of my house😂. Can’t wait for the book.
You ask which photo I like the best? Well I like all of them. Each have their own character. I’ll be in Utah on the 8th of September. Hope to have clear skies. Moon rise shots are my goal.
Because your using a star tracker technically woukd you be able to use a lens that say wide open could be f4? Or would you still recommend f1.8, f1.4 etc
Epic stuff again mate! The pano with the Milky way, the moon in the center and you on the left was the most impressive for me. Although I also really like the 3 shot vertical pano with the 20mm. On that note: are you considering 'upgrading' your 20mm f1.8 for the new Sigma 20mm f1.4 art? Seems like a beast for astro! Cheers man.
Must be nice to be able to shoot in an area such as that! I'm in the MidWest where light pollution is all around and it's impossible to get a good shot.
I'm really liking that MW panorama with the moon 👍 I'm interested to hear more on your decision to shoot in visible light only. I've been using an OWB filter on my modified camera over the summer for a few of my astro shots as I prefer the stock colours sometimes, especially with the moon or NLCs.
Lovely, Alyn. I have a star tracker but didn't make time to set it up during my new moon trip to Wyoming, USA. I am now post-processing my images. I'm hoping stacking the images will produce extra detail in the MW. Looking back, I think I missed the chance to track, to stack and to do both. Then I would be able to compare the results to see if setting up my star adventurer is worth the time and effort. What do you think?
Beautiful shots! Thanks for posting them. I have a general question though. There's a dark area north of town where I live, about 30 miles, probably Bortle 3-4. Since it's north of town, and I'd have to shoot South/Southeast to get the milky way, will shooting "through town" aiming South cause issues with light pollution/visibility? Even though the light pollution map looks OK? Thanks.
R.I.P Alyn. Thank you for sharing your incredible talent. You are now part of the cosmos my friend.
Rest in peace brother. We lost a guru. You were a gem
Your self-portrait pano is amazing!
So happy to hear the happy pure joy in your voice Alyn. Good on you. Stay humble and keep capturing those stars. Off to research your book (know nothing about photography but love your videos).

You're a true human no one is thinking about universe I can see the hardwork there
luv your creative sky writing in the entry of your video Alyn!
Love your video as always, and I vote for the panorama!
Your work makes me emotional, your passion is contagious.
AMAZING...love all the images...I hope you may offer a workshop in the US in the future...thank you for all your teachings...
I look forward to your 2023 calendar. Your Blessed to see such beauty and I'm thankful for your videos.🌠
Hey Alyn! Your photos are so incredible! How wonderful just to sit and enjoy the view! My favorite was the moon coming up in the center below the Milky Way arch and you standing on the left. The moonlit foreground was just beautiful!
Thanks for including commentary and examples of when things don’t work out as planned. Great video. I liked the pano the best.
Very cool! I am so jealous!! Great job. I cannot wait to see more videos!
Loved the pano, the level of detail in the whole image was incredible. Have your book on order and so looking forward to receiving it and to learn more about shooting the night sky
My favourite also.

I've never seen a moon trail done before. I like that. Something different. Very cool.

Amazing Alan you are one of the best out there Astro Photographers .
Amazing captures Alyn. Beautiful video. Thanks for all the pictures shared.

wonderful photos, amazing vlog Alyn. Thanks as always!!!
Great video, thank you! You are right...we learn something each time we go out. Beautiful images!
Wow! Moon with Milkyway? What a perspective!!! Blown off my mind.
Headed back to Hawai'i in November. I now have the MSM and your book is coming. So excited to get out there!
Awesome video and experience Alyn!!! My favorite is the panorama where you included the moon, you, and the Milky Way. Excellent !! Can't wait to order your book!

I love these vlogs so much. The panorama was my fave - spectacular!
That is so cool to meet women and have a chat on a road trip.
Your intro never fails to impress me🤩

That panorama with you in it was tidy !
That timelapse at 7:57 is amazing! 🔥. Awesome work!
Incredible story Alyn!! I love the lightening pics.
exceptional even to sit and experience the landscape ! count your lucky stars dude.
Congrats! You are doing great on the uploads!
What awesome Photos Alyn.I loved them all,my favourite though is the Full Panoramic with yourself,The Moon and The Milky Way.Still waiting on delivery of your book. Can’t wait to see it.John
Exquisite vlog and images! The panorama with you, the moon and the MW is my favorite
Probably like the milkyway arch with centered moon. Landscape makes it look like another planet.
What kind of music you in to?
Hey Alan! Love the images! Love your passion! Love your excitement! LOVE your opening titles! It's videos like this that have me sitting in front of my computer monitor grinning like a Cheshire cat because they're so much fun!
Awesome work, as usual. My favorite image is the Milky Way arch with you standing to the left.
Quality work as always pal
Hi Alyn. I’ve been watching your channel for quite some time and love your videos. I love all your images but probably the Milky Way pano with the moon in the middle and you on the left is my favorite. I just ordered your book. Can’t wait to get it !!
Wow, awesome results!
10:00 wow, what a fantastic pic

Wow! This panorama is definitely next level. Just incredible!
Amazing Alyn! I really like the moon / star trail! The panorama with you in it was unreal! So good!
One is for the Milk Way Arch over the moon…. Enjoyed your content today! Keep Snapping!
Thanks for the inspiration Alyn. Time to fire up the SLR and spend a night on The Gower and and The Beacons. If I can get anything ten percent as good as yours I'll be well pleased.

Hi Alyn, Awesome videos as usual. What apps were you using at 4:26?
Beautiful man. The pano with you in it is my absolute favorite. Could you see the milky way with the naked eye (before the moonrise)?
Loved this
Since I too have an astromoded camera from Spencer's Camera's, I was looking for a "visible light filter", as you suggested. Couldn't find one. Can you recommend, preferably a cliip in?
It's amazing that you can see the milkyway in the video.
That panorama is mindblowing!
I liked it all brother all the images.. I seen the milky way I looked absolutely beautiful. I took screenshots to share with my friends. I had my friend in Vietnam watch with me from Canada western Canada

What an amazing place to be Alyn! You’re a lucky guy! Great image’s as always 👍 Clear skies!

I remember a close call with lightning decades ago. Exhilarating moment
So for images like this do you take multiple and then composite them or do you take them all in one
I got your book in the mail two days ago and i gotta say it's amazing, well done
Amazing images! I almost hate to watch your videos because I ALWAYS feel envious afterwards. And not worthy. LOL! Looking forward to the next vid!
Lovely work, and the joyful bliss you find in it comes through and gently enriches the moment for a huge circle of grateful viewers. I have the Sky Watcher AZ-GTi mount in EQ mode. Can it track with a 400mm lens on a crop sensor without auto-guiding? I've had success at 300mm.
Great video. I couldn’t pick a favorite photo. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one that watches storms while listening to music and having a beer. 😂. But I stay on my back porch, close to the safety of my house😂. Can’t wait for the book.
Blue moon is my favorite Beer. Great photo.
I just received your book (in belgium) today! I am very happy I will read it soon :)

Can I ask (as a non-astro photog) why the lower pixel camera? Less noise?
Must be nice to be able to shoot in an area such as that! I'm in the MidWest where light pollution is all around and it's impossible to get a good shot.
I am approaching the stars✨

I know right where you shot that from. It's an incredible spot. Nice video and photos.
just got back from shooting in Joshua Tree with an escaper van too! nice shots ✨
Perfect milkyway ×perfect camera🤍😁
Hi Alan, wau..nice photos. Which app did you use? I didn't get it.
Terrific job! I am beginning to wonder if it is possible to take a mediocre photo in Utah though.
love the moon in the middle of the milky way
Awesome
Thank you
I hope Goblin Valley is on your list of places to go in Utah
Beautiful shots! Thanks for posting them. I have a general question though. There's a dark area north of town where I live, about 30 miles, probably Bortle 3-4. Whats the name of the intro song? ive looked everwhere.
Congratulations
