    Great tutorial, can't wait to finish the hat on my loom to try this one. QUESTION: can someone tell me the rule of thumb, in inches, from edge of brim to crown for (S) toddlers, (M) tweens, teens, women and (L) big head men? Obviously counting rounds does not work due to yarns used and knitter's specific tension so this would be so helpful to avoid a "slouchy" hat that the pom pulls the hat down in the back. Thanks so much!!

    I have a question can a pearl over take the place of the pearl ?

    • @DeborahShaw
      @DeborahShaw  5 лет назад +1

      no it cant. But it does slightly stop curling because it tightens up straight but it is not the opposite of a knit stich. In this case owl eye does knot curl like knit so the purl over works with it.

    Trying this stitch today, is it normal for the stitches to be super tight after the row of purl-over?

    • @DeborahShaw

      you need to keep them loose. The purl over is much tighter so very important to keep it loose.

    • @DeborahShaw
      @DeborahShaw  4 года назад +1

      This stitch is longer one way than the other so that may be why it did depending on the tension you used. You can block it or stretch it and make the yarn over looser and the owl eye tighter to compensate in another project.

    Hi Deborah I have completed a square of cobblestone stitch. I have rechecked and rechecked but mine has twisted. I used a 36 peg for a flat panel of 30 pegs using large gauge round loom and chunky yarn for 6mm needle. My first one is twisted my second one again same thing is happening; even tried the chain cast on to see if would make a difference. It is a beautiful stitch lovely and thick. The pattern:
    Row 1 - Owl eye
    Row 2 - uwrap 1, purl over stitch finish with a uwrap 1
    Continue... Is this correct?

    • @DeborahShaw
      @DeborahShaw  3 года назад +1

      What are you making and what edge did you use? This is a stitch video so you need to use a good edge that wont curl. i made a purse so i didn't worry about some curling since it would be attached. But you need a 2 or 3 peg owl eye edge or a garter or seed stitch edge if you want your square to lay flat. You should do a border of a few garter or owl eye border might work. If you look at the description i told you it was a stitch video and you would have to work up an edge to use it.

    • @cutbeard
      @cutbeard 3 года назад +1

      Hi Deborah, appreciate your reply. I was hoping to make a squares to make a blanket. I agree perhaps the uwrap isn't ideal. As you suggested will try another edging as I think at the end of Owleye I was then in that same last peg doing a uwrap perhaps that was what caused the twist. I will definitely try again. Thank you so much x

    • @DeborahShaw
      @DeborahShaw  3 года назад +1

      @@cutbeard yes uwrap is not a good edge on this piece at all. A good edge is one that prevents curling. Its important to do swatches to see what works when you are doing a piece from a stitch video especially.

    Making this now into a scarf. Love this stitch and have used it before for an ear warmer. For some reason the sides are curling like crazy. Help ! What can I do. I'm using a #4 yarn this time. Does that have something to do with the curling? Thanks for your advice.

    • @DeborahShaw
      @DeborahShaw  5 лет назад

      Maybe you need a looser tension on the edge. If that isnt enough you can try a garter stich edge. None of mine ever curled but we all knit differently .
