Anyone else use cardboard underneath their monitor stand? 🙋♂
(If you liked this video and want to thank me, you can pick up my £3 wallpaper pack here: www.danieltitchener.com/turbulent )
Direct link has ")" attached to the link, so it wont open needed page
I don't own a card to pay for the wallpapers, but I would really love to use yours on my phone
I was worried about damaging the worktop with monitor mount clamp. My friends used cardboard too but I found you can buy monitor mount reinforcement plate on eBay for £13.
Also you should replace the pads on the Bose headphones for around £5 on eBay easy fix.
NOPE. I've added silicone stops to mine, would recommend
Hey I live in canada too!!
Among all the setups across the internet, this is the one I've found the most cleverly designed one. Mounting the PC underneath the desk is a genius solution that everyone should consider. I've done something similiar by mounting my PC components on a shelf under my table without an outer case, which provides both good discretion and airflow. Thanks to this video, I feel less like a weirdo about this now.
Woah, loving this Daniel! Would love to have you on my setup series Room Tour Project!
Hey Frank!! That would be awesome!
@@DanielTitchener As someone who follows both of you, this would be sweet. Daniel, you're absolutely killing it with the redesigns and other content on the channel. Wishing you and your fam the best as you settle into Vancouver. God bless 👍
I recommend you look for those steel monitor mount reinforcement plates. It's a pair of metal plates and sandwich the desk under the monitor stand. It's more reliable and great for heavier monitors.
Welcome to Vancouver !! It’s an amazing city! I’m studying interior design and your videos have really driven me to really get into rendering. Thank you for your amazing helpful videos!
I have a similar set up. I really like the vibe and de-logoing the mouse was a nice touch. I don't like mats, light bars (cause I only use my comp in daylight), or desk trays but apart from that here are some suggestions to clean things up:
- cut cardboard or grab a metal plate to replace it.
- Align power stripe with cable raceway.
- get a drawer instead of having the desk stand, gives you way more space, keeps it clean looking and avoids need for a pencil tray.
- I'd recommend turning the computer sideways to avoid hitting it with a knee and gives a slimmer look.
- mount the computer charger under the tabletop and add black (Velcro like) command strips that are made from plastic. They remove clean and don't pitch up dirt like Velcro but will avoid needing to put your charger on the tabletop. If you need IO on the table then grab a mini io c clamp from AliExpress.
That really nice, but I would recommend to cut the cardboard, or maybe a piece of cloth, to the same size of the stand, that’s only a suggestion, if you don’t really mind it is still a wonderful desk setup
Felt would be nice I think
Yes, it would be a Greta detail but since he used cardboard I tought that he doesn't want tò spend Money on it
I think its fine, because its hidden by the shelf
The deliberate flaw.
That is very deep.
Hahaha
Maybe silicone so it's non-slip?
Thank you for all the ideas! There are at least 3 solutions here that I will be trying to implement myself (love the pen drawer). I unfortunately have multiple computers I need to work with on the same desk, which has presented it's own peripheral related integration problems, but much of what you've presented will definitely assist in wrangling my multi-machine setup.
Regarding peripheral issues, I use multiple computers all the time and as a suggestion, you can try the Logitech K780 keyboard and M720 mouse which have buttons for quick switching between 3 computers. You can connect them using Bluetooth or their dongles. I don't have a solution for sound and cameras yet though.
@@anthonyafuwape864 I use that line of products, actually! After searching from time to, I was pleasantly surprised to see Logitech made a quick-switching solution. It works very well.
I would replace the cardboard piece with a piece of cut leather. Great video, many ideas I can use. Thank you Daniel!
this set up is so cool and well-thought! love it!
The most minimalist setup of them all, absolutely love it Daniel!
Daniel I'm sold. Now just using my dining room table for a desk. But great ideas for cable management throughout my home!
Clean setup and a big fan of the ITX form factor! I'm definitely going to check out that under desk mount. Can you share more on why you chose to orient your desk against that wall, and what the rest of the room looks like? (i.e. behind you when at the desk)
I hope you get a soft mug coaster or something more aesthetic than that cardboard :P but love the new setup :)
Upgraded rollers looking awesome
if there's anything I love more is the phrase " This Chair I won't attempt to pronounce...... 🤣🤣"
This is so beautiful!!!
Minimalist yes, but also missing a speaker set. Great tips btw 👍 This comes on par with the desk setup king David Zhang 😁
Tip 1: using a standing desk is much more pleasant with a standing desk mat
Tip 2: spraying the monitor arm white (or buying a white one if available) would make the monitor look like it's floating in mid air
Tip 3: some plants would be nice🌱🌴
Great setup. That power strip was a good solve. Curious, with the casters on the desk, how wobbly is it?
Thanks Matt! Haven't tested them properly on hard floors yet but on the rug it's rock solid
Beautiful and inspiring setup! That's the way I'm envisioning to have mine, although I do have a few more things on my desk, like speakers and a laptop. Great work!
For the cardboard, you can cut the squared edges to round it up a little and maybe paint it black too just to make it more aesthetically pleasing. I'm sure it bugs you a little everytime you're on the desk😂. A cool, sleek setup otherwise. I love it.
Now this is my kind of setup! From one compulsive minimalist to another. . . You can safely straighten out that surge protector cable with a heat gun or blow dryer. The cable kinks drive me crazy after a while so I usually do that for my permanently visible cables.
The cleanest setup I've ever seen 👌💯
I like your idea, and I also like the simplicity!
Usually go to tech wars to look at gnarly setups, this one though takes the cake for minimalism!
Really satisfying
That's so clean.
I love desk setup videos and have seen literally hundreds. Your setup is by the far the most aesthetically pleasing I've seen! It must be the architect touch! Well done, I'm following your channel now.
Thank you so much so helpful I'm doing it. I didn't even know you could mount the PC under the desk. I have a giant alienware so I hope I can do it. I have a cat problem with them playing with the cords so this is the perfect solution.
Great work! Very well executed
This Setup is pretty clean. But you could take a look at the invisible setup by DIY Perks. This is the cleanest one.
This is the most ideal and pleasant cable management I ever seen.
Minimal and elegant.
This is a stunning setup. I have 2 monitors, a ps5, desktop speakers, a mac mini and 2 laptops (one personal and one for work) so going for that truly minimal look is difficult.
Love this setup Daniel! 💙
I love the clean and well though-out desk setup!! 👊🏾 I might have to mount my PC too 🤔 It increases your aim by 30%, right? 😂
The rough cardboard shows that you are not too too too focused.
Hahaha.
Good job on getting a ton of companies to sponsor a sweet set up. Could have been a bit more subtle than the press release read out for the desk though lol
im physically hurt by the cardboard haha. another excellent video, looking forward to more redesigns!
honestly, selling desks like this as a complete unit or with parts could be a business idea
Watching a whole bunch of YT desk setup videos and I noticed they all had this nice, soft focus look in all of them. How do I mimic this video look?
Absolutely amazing
Feng Shui tip: Turn your desk around and have your back to a wall. Especially if you don't have appointments where you meet people in your office, there's no reason not to be more comfortable by having your back to a solid wall. As a bonus it makes it easier to use zoom filters for your background.
Stop it with the feng shui nonsense. his setup is far from good but why the f would u not want ur desk facing the wall. It´s the most clutterfree-and secure way to do it, also looks nice with lighting. Are u afraid of a ninja going to stab ur back mr feng and mrs shui?
@@pierre.a.2982 🤣
Just checked the desk price 😳…I bet it is the nicest!!
Thanks Dan! You're unique :)
I learned to not by cheap desk chairs. They are cheap for a reason. I had to learn that lesson several times.
I've had an Aeron chair for 10+ years and I use it daily. It has more than paid for itself in durability and doesn't look its age.
Nice setup and welcome to Vancouver! My setup consists of a Samsung 28" 4k 144hz monitor and an ITX sff computer hidden away from sight as well for cable management. Great minds think alike ✌️
This set up is so clean that I want to take a shower right now
Loved the video. Ergonofis is taking over youtube's desk setup videos lmao
But foreal tho, you could at least have trimmed the cardboard under the monitor arm, my OCD couldn't let me take my eyes off it for the entire video.
Daniel does the magnetic adapter for the webcam come with the light bar? If not, where did you get it?
i wouldn't mind my husband gaming if his set up looked like this.
Hey Daniel, I seen video get more views over time when they had cable management in the title, so try something like, “Architect Perfect Cable Management Gaming Setup”
Now David have a strong competitor.
I'm not sure if my previous comment was posted or not ( i don't see it). Where can I find the Magnetic Stand for the Webcam? I've had that dilemma between the lightbar and the webcam for quite a while... And I guess you just showed me the way😀
Clean. You won’t be able to run Warzone on that 4K 144hz with that GPU, maybe consider upgrading!
Great execution! Happy to learn about these side outlets, and never would have thought about suspending the tower. Only thing I am worried about it heat dissipation into the wood. Have you thought of that? Also, the light bar, does it have any use, really?
Love you content!!!
Very nice and clean setup! I also see that you only have like three apps on your dock. haha.
So your "Setup" is just a Monitor and a pc+ peripherals?
Still you bought a desk, a monitorstand, a deskshelve, cablemanagement stuff and a pc mount?
Isnt minimalism about only haveing what yu use and not hiding the things you have to make it look like you dont have them?
This is a clean setup, but not a minimalist one (a minimalist would never have a pc and a laptop because they do exactly the same things)...
Hey Daniel!
May I ask where did you get from the rug underneath your desk? It looks great! Thanks!
one of the best setups i've seen in my life, just genius
wow setup is super awsome. that case is cool.
Can I get the details of PC column like case?
Hello, may i know the magnetic adapter mount you used for the webcam?
No M2 Pro? I am surprised!
Bro the cardboard lmao, at least cut it to size xD
Other than that, sleeek!
Did I overlook the Magnetic Webcam Mount in the list?
In everyday workflow are you also able to keep your desk clutterfree? I love the minimalistic designs too but I tend to struggle with that.
DANIEL! I ADORE that keyboard. I've been looking everywhere for a mechanical wireless keyboard. I followed your link and it seems that they are now no longer made. 🥺 Any good alternatives that you may recommend?
I highly suggest changing your case to the ssupd meshlichious, so you can fit a more powerful radiator to get better performance from your cpu
Welcome to Vancouver
Daniel thinking he dis the cleanest set up of all time.
DIY Perks : Hold my beer.
So for those of us who don’t have sponsors to provide us with a $2k desk do you have any other more sensibly priced recommendations?
I love every bit of this video and followed a lot of the cable management and peripheral examples with my existing set up! Thank you! One thing I struggled with though, I got the G305 since I needed a new mouse and tried debadging it with rubbing alcohol. That didn't remove the logo at all, so I did the very gentle method with acetone. It did remove the logo, but quite frankly ruined the finish of the material. Any tips on how to do this?
he he, i used same under-desk mount, for my cooler master nr200p. works very well.
Why doesn't anyone say that this set is more about looks than practice? The PC is objectively awful for a designer-architect. Chair without neck support? You won't work that long. What about a noisy keyboard? Why not membrane? By the way, the regular sound in the monitor is absolutely bad, you could also buy a column from Sonos, Bang and Olufsen or Harman Kardon, cuz you have money based on the high cost of the table.
The monitor arm link is broken, and it looks like a perfect sleek one that I'd love to get. Are you able to relink it or name it by any chance?
good ideas
V E R Y E X P E N S I V E
I say that and im swiss
Can you tell me what kind of carpet/rug is under your desk?I really like it.
I'm surprised that you don't have 2 screens, but I guess that you don't need them with such a large monitor?
Still watching this 7 months later, love your work @DanielTitchener! 😀 I couldn't find in the comments if this has been discussed before-I like how you attached the Logitech Brio 4K webcam on top of the BenQ Screenbar Halo, and wondered how did that affect the view from the webcam now it's slightly taller being attached on the screen bar instead of directly on the monitor? Also, did you the BenQ webcam accessory to attach the webcam on ScreenBr Halo? Thanks, JK
Great Setup! Help me: where can i purchase "this magnet" for the Brio webcam?
Most powerful? The graphics card is pretty low end compared to what you can get in that form factor.
hey there! could you give me an idea on where / how to do the rollerblade modification of the chair? would be very much appreciated :)
Love this aesthetic Daniel! Incredible work and brilliant video! 🙌
nice Desktop you git there...
Ordered the Lightbar, but tell me, where do i get the magnetic adapter for the webcam?
its not hard making it with no stuff or wired peripherials, i did that with bw 2016 ultimate and de elite both wired, i also used ath mx50 and blue yeti and YET NO CABLE was in sight.
now its not the same, everything is in ikea
Awesome setup! Where did you buy the PC?
The rug, I need infor about your rug! :)
Hi! Love your setup! Do you have the link for the heavy duty monitor stand/arm? Thanks
7:01 @Glarses mx browns are...
It looks like the exact same room as Optimum's.
Clean setup !
I was told that a messy desk was not a good sign of a productive worker.
I was also told that a clean desk was a sign of an under producing worker.
Maybe you could organise a little mess, an attractive productive looking mess.
Hahaha
Minimal❌monitor, keyboard & mouse✅
this has got to be one of the best desk setups I've seen. So many of them are a mess- this is amazing!
ahh you're brilliant, Daniel. This is a majorly 'Baus' setup. Love all the well thought out vids - well done. Also, Welcome to Canada! - fellow architect from Toronto.
Nice setup. I love the attention to detail. The matte screen and cardboard strip would drive me up the wall. But since I do woodworking, I wouldn't worry too much about the desk finish. I assume they finished it well.
Does the BENQ lightbar come with the adapter already?
It's a shame that the monitor doesn't have PD (power delivery) for my Mac, otherwise this would be a no brainer. I'm currently doing monitor research and it seems I either have to sacrifice PD for HDMI 2.0 or for less refresh rate :(
That's hell of a minimalistic setup! Very nice looking overall, thanks for making this video. Can't wait to change my home workstation setup
Did the LED pack come with the corner pieces? or did you buy those separately
