    I have 2 14-year-old Russky Toy Terriers that I got when I was living in Russia. I love them so much! They're smart, affectionate, and playful. They do bark a lot, though. I wish there were more Russian Toy breeders outside Russia.

      Lovely ! There are a lot more breeders now outside of Russia :) Nemo is from a Swedish breeder, but there are in Norway finland Croatia Slovenia Serbia and many more places 😊

    It`s the best breed ever. Our lovely little lady is 6 years old now and i can honestly say, i would never get another breed than Russian toy. Our 1,8kg monster is the biggest love machine in the world. Never met any person or an animal, with such a big heart. There is pure love for everyone in that dog. If you don`t love dogs after meeting one of these russians, you are dead inside.

      haha I agree they're absolutely lovely dogs! Nemo is about 26.4cm and 1.945kg and he is so loving I 100% agree. and so funny dogs too I always laugh :)

    As a first time owner of a dog who got a Papillon pup a couple of months ago... This sounds identical, even the coming up to tap on your arm with a paw when he wants to go out and play. The main difference i can see between R.Toy and Papy is hair length and the colour types cause Papys have white base colour where RToys get tones of golden brown through to black
    Im now getting kind of obsessed with the possibility of seeing a little of Russian Toy + Papillon Cross

      Glad you enjoyed the video. The breed is similar Russian toy is however a terrier and personality wise not as easy going as papillon. I would not recommend to cross breed them .

    I love my little guy, woman that had told me he was a chihuahua he seems to be a little bigger and smarter. Found that they were mostly for Russian aristocrats. He acted a little royal. They have been accepted by the kennel club in 2022.

    he is now 3yrs old & everything you mentioned about the breed Russian Toy is exactly like my Ted.
    Ted shows he loves me,as I love
    Ted tremendously.
    Thank you again for sharing this information some things I didn't know but now do like their teeth need more attention,the bark training is good to know. Tell neno Hello,

      When I got my little 6 months old he went straight to the pad when he had to go. The other owner told me he'd rip it up but he didn't. My Russian Toy seemed so regal and intelligent that I knighted him. What a little sweetie.

    Hey Bella! I just got a Russkiy and so appreciative for this video. My little Kobe is so trainable and one thing I find mentally hard is the barking at people and dogs atm and I judge myself for not doing my best but hearing you say you sat outside for so long for him to get use to people and cars, I am going to try that... Is there anything else that you could advise in that department to not let it emotionally affect me? X

    • @bellaandnemo
      @bellaandnemo  3 года назад +1

      the best tip I have is to use distraction positive re inforcement and teach the word quiet . when I walk nemo and I feel like he is going to react to a dog for instance I tell him "quiet nemo" and he knows oh oh I am not allowed to bark now. and to be consistent, he is now 2 years and we still have set backs it takes a lot of time
      good luck!

      Mine is not a barker till someone coming near door so do you live apartment,are there many ppl around where you live as they gd.watchdog. i was so lucky got mine from a breeder &dog judge she had to cut back bc death of partner.Her ears dont stand right up as breed a cartlidge issue,what pups might plus lived with brother so was desex,what a shame. Owner understand responsible breeder,dog show judge also, i wonder if her dad is out there, hilarious her papers prove she purebred. Dracula was her dad name,so wonder how many babies he has out there. She was from isolated area country, mainly other dogs, no noise traffic,no kids so timid to noises not big@ player,Not as playful she just 3yrs.as would be if pup play. I was lucky just had to pay airfares She so cute so pretty. Such a gd.girl her name long,so last letters useAshir. She sleep like cat,all day if let but likes yard at night chasing creatures the terrier trait.likes go for birds Great walker doesnt sniff stop,like other dogs she just love walking. but another dog near,she will go for, slow steady intro. They love your att.likes be lap dog. Gd.@told stop it,if habit. Love sleep on bed with me,no hassle bc small,hair not fur so easy. She fussy eater. Was use to dry food but i spoilt her,she loves frozen chicken neck(1only daily great for her teeth)&frozen chicken giblets,stops bacteria, as their issue small mouth, its improved he gums,now hates dog food,so cook mince,grated potatoe carrot enough get blood out.Lately try rice&liver not like at first,needs just cook and give roast cook chicken.so now i make up mix enough co tainers for 5-6 days freeze,bring out daily,do not over feed there is some dry if need,never rare touches.She refuses dry food now. Likes special dog treats.Love to have breeding pair.she such gd.girl, tell her back sit she will,firm but praise gd.girl. everyone loves her most time she with me,i shoes on she follows ready jumps into her small dog bag shes ready,she never no noise gd.girl take out,wont pee poo till home.Small dogs can be over spoilt,just be firm she gets the point.They very fast run lucky i have big yard not sure cut paste photo to site,show her off. Other than floppy ears she black tan markings perfect.Shes the best.So barking be firm if not someone at door, firm stop quiet.Praise when if someone at door. They smarter than we think.

    I love the videos on your channel. I love bigger dogs but me and my fiance travel a lot by plane so im looking for a smaller dog. Russian toy terrier and tibetan spaniel are high on my list right now. Just a bit weary of hos fragile russian toys can be.. im close to lots of people with ugh energy medium dogs and i dont want anything bad to happen to a russian toys legs 😖

    • @bellaandnemo
      @bellaandnemo  Год назад +1

      thank you! Yes they can be but the also usually say when enpugh is enough. my friends have shelties, kelpies, german shepherds and yes we don't let them roam free together we do still train together. trust me Nemo tells them off when they're being too much for him. Just be weary when choosing a breed to fly that many airlines aren't allowing or have rules regarding short snouted breeds on flights. thats another reason I chose the RT because they have no issues with breathing. RT are also very much a more active and "needy" dog than the tibetan spaniel from my experience. I wish you all the best to find your dream companion !

    I have a 9-5 ist it possible leaving a russian alone for while?

    • @bellaandnemo
      @bellaandnemo  3 года назад +1

      hi. i would not recommend any dog this long. What is "problematic"with the russian toy is that they are very small, they most likely can not hold their bladder for this long. I walk Nemo 3 times per day because he can not hold himself for more than 6-7 hours during the day without it being very hard on his bladder. It is also extensive training to leave a dog at home, so you should calculate about a year or more to get the dog ready for being alone for this long time during the day. My tip is to look why you want to get a dog. To be with your dog or to have a dog but leave it alone for extended periods :) for me I got a dog to spend time with it, not to leave him alone during the long days :) So regardless of breed I would give it another thought :) good luck

    • @sallysweetm
      @sallysweetm 3 года назад +1

      @@bellaandnemo yeah my dream would be to take him to work! But it depends on the office I will end up, i am also still a trainee. But you are absolutely right that the training would be a lot.
      Can you take your dog to classes? Or how do you do it ?

    • @bellaandnemo
      @bellaandnemo  3 года назад +2

      @@sallysweetm I see! that would be a good option. Nemo goes to daycare 2 times a week when I have long days. I have taken him to uni but with more practical classes it's not possible,. if i in the future have even longer days he will go more days to daycare. I don't want him home alone any more than 6 hours MAXIMUM. please also remember this training is needed even if dog is home 1 hour or 7. it's same training. Russkiy toy's are loud, and very much attached to their owner so it's a lot of training you should do in order to prevent separation anxiety. this is much harder to get rid of later on :)
