    The Silverado is due an upgraded system for the info-tainment and will add another $5000 to the price. This was shared with me via a dealer enquiry early this year

      Infotainment is so overrated. As long as it has a good engine, great utility and a comfortable interior.

    These trucks do make more sense than our small overpriced Thai or Chinese build Aussie utes tho and have their own presence

    • @motorpolitan8884
      @motorpolitan8884 2 года назад +2

      It's not that they are overpriced it's just that American buys so many of these trucks that economies of scale are in their favor. These are easily $200,000+ if they were subject to the same sales volume as Thailand and Australia.

      @@motorpolitan8884 no way, the population argument is mute, Australia is one of very few RHD countries, most countries are LHD making it easier to have more choice from the USA market. This was proven by car market experts in a recent forum. Let’s not forget Walkinshaw aren’t buying at retail prices, they buy at wholesale , rebuild and sell at wholesale cost plus margin as an agency out to dealers who then put a mark up on for a recommended retail price. Can you imagine the wages sought after by car unions in Australia to rebuild these vehicles compared to the US wage market. We also dont get the range of vehicles through that agency like in the states i.e there is a base base trade model not supplied to Australia or the Ram in a V6 or diesel. Finally where Jeep is built in Toledo they also build Rams in RHD, for who I’m not sure, but it can be done direct. Walkinshaw have been suggested as getting Toyotas contract as well bringing in the Tundra, so essentially one company will have the monopoly and Australians will be robbed blind.

    GMC Denali woud look awesome in RHD combination as well.

      Right! I paid $60K for my 2022 LTZ.. $120K is z06 Corvette here in the states!

      @@DrFinesse7 Comparing the prices of these in Australia and the USA is akin to comparing wages in both countries. A real comparison is the buying power of the dollar in each country. With that in mind, the cost of these models in Australia is comparable to what they cost in the USA.

    • @neddiego2570

      @@troyhogarth8793 GDP Per Capita is not much different but in Australia vehicles are expensive due to 2 things.
      1. They don't manufacture pick-up trucks & cars in Australia.
      2. Luxury tax on vehicles

    • @motorpolitan8884
      @motorpolitan8884 2 года назад

      To be fair, both these trucks in Australia cost so much because they need to be shipped across the Pacific and also converted to RHD. Volume is also very low so profit margins for stakeholders are insanely high to keep it sustainable.
      If they were assembled in Thailand they would be only a little bit more expensive.

    • @alphabravo3304

      Actually through Ram Gold Coast the 2022 Laramie Ram Box is $149000 on the road with all government taxes etc, these reviewers will always spin off base costs. The Ram Warlock which is essentially the old model classic or Rebel is $130 grand.

  • @alphabravo3304
    @alphabravo3304 Год назад

    And surprise surprise both are rebuilt by the Walkinshaw , even though in the Toledo factory in the USA the Ram is built like Jeep for the right hand drive market, so why are we not getting them direct without the extra rebuild cost of Walkinshaw?

    The Ram looks better. I had the Silverado and the rear wheels would patch out ( spin ) whenever I went uphill on wet surface, I think even when on dry pavement. My Ram never does this. I'm sticking with the Ram with full air suspension and eTorque. Thanks

    Saw (this week) a Silverado on YT mentioned by a guy doing a US new truck sales yard show . He mentioned a Silverado for US $46,000 ? Aussie mark-ups for silly ausies strikes again . They can't get enough of expensive Houses, Fuel, Food, Grog, and Wine , Cars and Trucks 'Recreational-Drugs' etc., Thanks for mentioning the hint on the Fuel Numbers. US$ 46k x 2 = 92k . Thanks for your Video.

      The Silverado has "cylinder cutoff", when it doesn't need V8 it can become a V4 or V2 so very fuel efficient.
