Studies show putting with ball position too far forward surprisingly causes you to push it right because you extend & compensate essentially reaching for it.
forgot to add that on your backswing, make sure you inhale and then on your follow thru, exhale. makes a world of difference in your ball rolling smoothly... lol...
I swing back and through, properly. My putter face is square, the entire motion, Never open or closed. You only end up open or closed using an improper stroke. Wood and iron swings go around the body, on an arc, NOT PUTTER SWINGS. Fix that and everything else will fall in place.
Once i found proper placement with my new putter, it really helped; plus shortening my swing/ changing tempo for distance.
