King Unai has managed more matches than I've had hot dinners, but I can not get my head round this high risk strategy of passing the ball (I am not going to say "football" - we're not in America....yet) around the 6 yard box, daring the opposition to take it off us. Has ended in tears too many times. Ollie should take a deckchair on to the pitch with him. Why make such heavy weather of reaching the 1/2 way line??

I think the surprising thing was coming away from what we have been doing brilliant at. Controlling the game. Still had chances to seal the win. But,if anyone had said to me that we would be 3rd after 19 games, I'd happily take that. The pundits loved that we lost. This gets on my nerves. Never spoken about winning the league. The team looked tired in the 2nd half. Europe and the massive games against City and Arsenal have taken its toll. Too many sloppy passes. They needed the defensive line to be deeper in my view as they couldn't match the pace of the United forwards. The defensive line and midfield line needed to be much closer to restrict the space. The game got way too open in the 2nd half. But 3rd is beyond our wildest dreams and hopefully we can get back to winning ways against Burnley at the weekend. UTV.
Tbf United deserved the win in the end because they wanted it more and Villa got too comfortable. In the second half, United were the better team no discussion.
It's all went south with that sloppy give away pass in midfield where it signalled to MU we're done! I knew and said, they're gonna score; and they did. After that they got their confidence back and in historic MU form they re-grouped and turned up the tempo and left us shell shocked. It's their trademark. I wouldn't have liked to be in the dressing room with UE afterwards or this morning at Bodymore. Burnley will be studying that second half into the night like Einstein this week. Losing a 2:0 lead is embarrassing.

It has to be said that in one month (26 Nov - 26 Dec) Villa have played 9 games. I do think that the last 2 games reflect this.
However, although we are 3rd and have played some incredible football this season, Villa have the ability to play terribly sometimes. Think back to our performance against Forest then look at how we were against Sheffield Utd. We tend to struggle against teams that on paper we should be beating.
Against Man Utd though, brilliant Villa turned up for the first half, then shit Villa arrived for the second. Negative football, constantly passing backwards and far too much messing around at the back.
What on earth did Unai tell them at half time?
Can't get myself to watch it. That second half was atrocious. We set the tone for it in the last 15mins of the first half. Sloppy and struggled under pressure, not streetsmart enough. I am still fuming trying to get over it. Its the Aston Villa of old creeping back in. Yes we have key injuries but it's the manner in which we lost that hurts the most.
Villa magically changed places with United after the second Villa goal. They did exactly what United does. Stop playing, imagining the game is won , and over. Paying dearly for it. When will teams learn that when the opposition goes 2 goals behind they will attack you fiercely because they got nothing to loose.

Wasn’t going to watch any vlogs from last night’s game but felt I had to do it. A tough watch and some worrying signs. Gave the ball away too easily. We gave those goals away. Don’t know what they had to drink at HT but it certainly wasn’t an energy drink.
Onto Burnley and that is going to be a tough game. The bottom 4 or 5 teams are all fighting now.

The second half was very Gerrardesque, and I’m disappointed with Emery not bringing on the subs sooner! We looked leggy and needed fresh players! However, it’s still an amazing season, but, it could be even better! UTV
Villas fist goal was from a howler from onana,after tge 25th minute mark united were the better team and it was coming,you were not in control.

Just watched Sheffield UTD lose ti Luton, Luton kept going and got through their defence. We kept playing sideways instead of forcing our way through. In the Manchester UTD match we were too predictable. We should have put 5 at the back and kept Olly up front as a threat on the break. We played badly in both of our last two games in th second half. Hope this is not going to be a pattern. Got to beat Burnley!

Not sure what you're on about, but United deserved the win. Villa didn't do anything in the second half. Besides the two set pieces, they didn't really threaten from open play. United had like six VERY close offsides.
Seeing the celebrations for that second goal makes me even more pissed off about that collapse now. How good would it have felt coming away from there on Boxing day with 3 points!

We were poor first half as well and scored from set plays. Very sloppy from open play and need our possession players back.
We just switched off. Looked like we thought we'd won it after the second goal, and we just couldn't get the coordination back. I do think that we are missing Kamara in the middle, but the phycology aspect needs to be sorted out: getting sucked into handbags at Brentford; switching off after having a perfectly good goal disallowed against SUFC; and now this collapse. Sort out the phycology and learn to break down an eleven man defence and we're away. UTV

For Christmas Santa has brought us Villa of the past.
Individual errors cost us today.... Diego with a sloppy pass out from the back for their first, and Ollie losing possession in their half that resulted in a corner from the counter attack, which they scored the winner from. We also lacked an attacking threat when Lucas Digne went off injured.

At half time, I said to my Mrs. we will lose this 3-2 with their striker who hadn't scored for over 1000 mins getting the winner!! Over the years as a Villa fan we've had to get used to losing in such poor fashion to this lot. After our second goal you could sense what would happen. The second half Villa were an embarrassment and didn't deserve anything from the game and that's what happened. couldn't give a flying monkeys about people saying look where we are in the league, last night they threw it away big style.

Disappointing as it was i think we all knew this was going to happen sooner or later. Its been coming. However, everyone needs to take a deep breathe and think where we were and where we are now. It's inevitable that with injuries, suspensions (the players need to take a hard look at themselves in this regard) fatigue etc we can't and won't be able to see out games. If we don't get 3 points in the next game the potential to start tumbling down the league is enevitable. However it's times like these that Villa need our support more than ever.
No leadership, konsa has to play centerback if Pau is not fit, Carlos looks like he does not get out of first gear.
