The scene in this movie where the father bought a tiny piece of caramel and then sharing it with the rest of his family made me appreciate food even more.

Me too. But I grew up during wW2 when food was rationed and my mom was raising 4 kids alone. I remember only having a box of coco in the cupboard and a rare bit of sugar, no milk. Not much money or food or toys. The result? My cupboards are overstocked and I buy Christmas presents for the neighborhood little ones.

Fun fact. Our family's from Warsaw. When this movie came out, my dad was really impressed. "Look, finally an actual GOOD movie about war" (he was born in 1954), he said to his mother, and took her to the cinema. After the movie ended, she told him "Now multiply that by three and you might get the image of war".

One of the most difficult I've ever watched. It took me 3 times to actually complete this movie. I could put myself on lead actor's shoe and it was hard to see what he was going through. His acting was so mind-blowing. Amazing movie.

@@TheDude69 Does it matter? The characters in the movie were real people, their story should matter regardless of who brought it to the wider audience. The work of actors matters too. In terms of Polansky, there were many great artists, even greater than Polansky, who were terrible people.

I watched this movie for the first time today..It is the greatest war movie i have ever seen..Best performance by *Adrien Brody* and other actors..💖
The war and survival of jews scenes were really emotional and they had efforts put in them..Every scene is perfectly portrayed by Adrien Brody..
I loved the whole movie..And at the end of the movie, knowing that it was based on a true story of Polish Pianist i really appreciate the *real Szpilman's efforts for survival in the war times* ..
But i do feel bad for the German high ranked officer who saved Szpilman but at the end he couldn't be saved (in real life) just because the man didn't heard his name..😥
