    HACKSAW RIDGE is the extraordinary true story of Desmond Doss [Andrew Garfield] who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. He was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon, as he believed that while the war was justified, killing was nevertheless wrong. As an army medic, he single-handedly evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers. Doss was the first conscientious objector awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

    There’s a reason why Hacksaw Ridge is my favorite war movie and one of my favorite movies overall. One of the great things I love about war movies is that they contain life lessons that can be applied to real life. Hacksaw Ridge is a great example. Desmond Doss is literally my favorite veteran ever because of how he stuck to who he was while doing his part to serve his country. In an area where you’re expected to do what you’re told and carry a weapon, he held his feet and stuck to his beliefs. That’s the lesson of Hacksaw Ridge: never surrender your own personal values just to be like everybody else. This movie came out when I started high school and I was being peer pressured and bullied into getting drunk and smoking weed and sex and all that just for “the high school experience” as my peers said. That also carried on into college though it stopped now. But even through all of that I still held to my values of not drinking or smoking and no premarital sex and I can say that I absolutely love my college experience. And I hope this movie teaches others the same thing. Thank you Desmond Doss for your service and your convictions. Rest In Peace.

We believe we heard a guy who saw everything, who himself participated in the war and who comes to give others moralizing lessons of good conscience. My God. In addition, they have long had this reputation as "king of torture". And please, don't distort my words by saying that I want to make believe that the Americans were all white, no, obviously not: it was war. And guess what ? With a little common sense, you realize how war dehumanizes men and makes them like killer wild beasts. But frankly, between what you quote and what we could do the Japanese (who by the way were on the German side, so Nazism eh) there is no photo, the Japanese win the prize list of "monsters" no problem. Gospel of Jesus Christ John 3:16 For God So loved the world that he gave his only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not Perish but have Everlasting Life. Jesus Christ Died for the sin of the World, If you believe in ur heart God risen Jesus from the dead and confess him with ur mouth to people you shall be saved. Jesus said I Am The only way to heaven there is no other way! Repent of urs sins (Repent means Change ur Mind turning away from sinful things and being truly sorry for it.) trust Jesus and give ur life to him He Loves you cares about you more than anyone ever will! we are saved By Grace Trough Faith!,this is sin: Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death but the gift of eternal life in our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 3:23 For all have sined and felt short of the Glory of God. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Romans 1:18‭-‬21‭, ‬23 KJV Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9‭-‬10 REPENT OR YOU WILL PERISH REPENT AND BELIEVE THE GOSPEL GET RIGHT WITH GOD LORD JESUS CHRIST..........

The best scene of movie is from 38 to 50 minute, I have got goosebumps watching that! It might be the the best film recently made. It may be my right to do so, but I know that in a panic situation, I would not only be ineffective, but potentially counterproductive. The right to own arms also means the obligation to NOT do so in my case.
      Not to mention, if it were not for the law of gravity, I couldn't hit the planet earth.

    Mel Gibson did an awesome job directing this film. Doss' son says he got the movie down to the t. The only thing he changed was when Doss was wounded he gave up his stretcher for another soldier who needed it more and sat for 4 hours before he was taken to safety. Mel Gibson said he didn't think people would've believed that really happened and that's why he did the scene the way he did. This movie was a masterpiece.

    I love this movie. I could watch it endlessly and never get sick of it. The emotion and raw truth it conveys to the viewer is outstanding. The first time I watched it I cried so hard, I even got anxiety and my fiance couldn't believe how badly I was shaking because of my PTSD, I felt like I was there with the men. This movie deserves so much more recognition not to mention this is based on a TRUE STORY. This is hands down one of mel Gibson's best movies. I know that not everyone may like him as a man but he makes absolutely outstanding movies. I can put my judgements aside and appreciate his pure talent as an artist.

      I must have been drunk. My concern over this kind of thing is that Hollywood will make a mockery of this great man, and cover his acts of honor and bravery with acts of special effect and film trickery. In fact, I know they will do so. I well know who Desmond Doss is, and the profound effect he had on federal law and military conscription, but I do not see people in general becoming better educated (or even better people, like Desmond) simply because there's a movie about him. I say shame on Hollywood.
      For shame. You cannot replicate reality, but only give a rough facsimile...

    • @Napthalicious
      @Napthalicious 7 лет назад +2

      And for those who don't know, unlike my friend Kerak21, Desmond Doss set the precedent after Congress allowed for 'conscientious objection', wherein a person can cite their religion or provable moral code to refuse to obey military orders. He remains the most notable of figures in all U.S. military history to refuse to carry a gun based on religious principle. Men who at first were unwilling to go into battle with him later said "I wouldn't have anybody else on my side..."
