The part of this movie that affected me the most was seeing him at 80 running in the Japan Olympics. After everything that happened to him, he did not let it consume him. He did not let the hatred consume him. He even tried to meet up with "The Bird" later on. He knew something about life that most never learn.

The book talks about his spiral into depression and alcoholism after returning to the US, due to PTSD from his time in the POW camp. His wife takes him to a Billy Graham tent revival one night, and he remembers his promise in the raft and begins to follow God. For the rest of his life he was an evangelist and motivational speaker.

This movie is not about race or nationality. It's about the human spirit and will. Those people that fought those wars for whatever reason they fought are not us, and their reasons for fighting are long gone. I'm an American. My father fought in the war. But I love the Japanese culture and art, have Japanese friends and married a German girl. We are not those people. Let's not repeat their mistakes and suffer their misfortune.

These comments are pathetic. This movie was not made to glorify the US or make Japan look bad, it was made to tell how Louie survived. If all you got from this trailer is that America is bad, then there is something wrong with you. I am American, and guess what, I know my country has made mistakes, but you want to know something else? Every country has. Every person has. Don't let the actions of a few corrupt soldiers shape your views of an entire country. Don't take such an inspirational movie like this and ruin it by turning it into something it's not. I read this book, and it was amazing. They wanted to keep it PG-13, so you won't even know some of the crap he went through unless you read the book. Now let's all grow up and stop insulting other countries. With your insults, you are accomplishing nothing except for making your own country look arrogant and stupid. I'm not going to say the US is the best country in the world, but it is not nearly as bad as what many of you are saying.

It means that anyone on this planet with no experience and has nothing to do with the second world of war, cant speak for their country or the world like they have been there. It also means that the film is about how Louie survived and why some comments on this youtube channel are something else then how Louie survived. Mabey frustration or something else, it just has nothing to do with how Louie survived. 1+1 = 2, country = human society. And the film unbroken = Is about how Louie might have survived in hes time.

I was lucky enough to be an extra in this film and work alongside Angelina Jolie and Jack O'Connell. I am honoured to be a part of Louis Zamperini's heroic story. Please see this film for what it is: a story based on the courage and resilience of Louis and his fellow soldiers. It doesn't matter whether he was American, British, Australian or Swedish, what matters is the courage that he showed and how he was able to fight through the darkest of times. R.I.P. Louis Zamperini, may your soul be at rest. Thank you for inspiring so many others.

I've seen a lot of war movies in my life, like a lot. But this one really left me speechless. I bought the book the day after I saw the movie, feeling totally overwhelmed with how strong a human being could be. How much they could endure without dying. I felt the book was life-changing and a lot like the movie. They did the book proud. But Jack really played a wonderful Louie. I love that the kid who played him also really looked like him. But mostly, this movie ( and book ) taught me not to whine about my own life as much. It taught me that I can take much more than I thought I could. When my nephew was born my brother told him he named him Louis. I instantly thought of Louis Zamperini and I love that I can make that association. This movie is a must-see for everyone who wants to be overwhelmed by the strength of the human spirit. I loved every minute of it.

Can we just ask ourselves on why a ton of trolls somehow think that America is the worst country in the world? Apparently it's filled with rude people and crime rates are high and what other shit people say. Let me just say that first of all, I admit that it's not the most polite country in the world, but we aren't that rude. And crime rates? Let me just tell u that in a lot of places you can't even go out after 9 pm otherwise you might get robbed and such. Or even places like Japan, who label the majority of their murders as suicides. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but would people please stop blaming America for everything? It makes me sick.

Jack O'Connell in this film is superb because he seems a completely different person, the first time I saw him I thought he wasn't the same actor because of the dyeing hair and the accent, and then I saw he was british, so he does an amazing job not just acting, which is brilliant, also with the accent, you can't hear any whisper of his thick accent. I fell in love with him in this movie and then I watched Starred Up and '71 and wow! every film I see of him leaves me speechless. He's so underrated, in my honest opinion he's one the best uprising actors nowadays, hopefully the time will give him the success he deserves.

Unbroken is the story of Louis Zamperini an Olympian who spends a harrowing 47 days in a raft with two fellow crewmen before he's caught by the Japanese navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.
I have to admit this film got me. I didn't think i would fall for the sentimentality , director Angelina Jolie smothered this film with , but i did.
It is an amazing story and Jack O'Connell is ever so impressive in the lead role.
The ending is very emotional and Louis Zamperini deserves such a glowing tribute.

A very great story that everyone must treasure. It does'nt only reminds us from the fresh scars brought by the tragic war but also how it has made a great history in the human race. In other words, the main role represents the entire people that were involved of how much they've sacrificed for their country, of how much they've fought for the future and of how much they've not lose hope for freedom and peace. Through this film, we must come to realize that we should continue what they've had achieved.
