I don't think the romantic type of love is special and I don't think the romantic type of love is even real, while I do think platonic love is real and special. More than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner. Romantic relationships are pointless, while platonic relationships are not.
I think he always knew , from the first time they met. Maybe she wasn't his usual type but he saw something in her and decided to keep her in his life even if she was just his friend. She on the contrary had low self esteem and even on the first night they met , she just couldn't go ahead and have sex with him because she was anxious that she would make up in the morning and he would have left so instead she choose to engage in a conversation so she would have something to remember. I also think that as much as he tried , he never loved Sylvie either but wanted to show that he can turn his life around and settle down. Then he got her pregnant and decided that the only option was to get married and try to be happy. Jump to Tilly's wedding when he saw Emma again and all the feelings that they both tried to bury came crushing back like nothing had ever changed. The rest I guess is history.
"Let's go i wanna meet your fiancee" was such a wild thing to say after they both kissed, i love the normalcy of them randomly making out..here she is pining for him and he is battling his inner desires because of sylvi and the baby. it goes in direct contrast to where he later visits emma in paris like a lovesick puppy. this whole series was just so real. i never believed in right person wrong time until i saw this masterpiece.
I cried the most at this scene for some reason. Like I FELT EVERY SECOND OF THIS IN MY SOUL. The longing. The feeling like life will never be the same. The bond. All of it. I felt it.

Stumbled on this and was blown away by the acting. Binged watched all 14 episodes in 1 sitting. I loved how this series took it's time..and then BAM!!!... my heart was broken like 10 times. Gut wrenching scene here but there were so many good ones with these two alone. I wish nothing but the best for these two actors!

What a beautiful scene- the nuances, the maze, the symbolism, the soundtrack. They still can’t seem to say what they feel in their souls. Reminds me of the scene in “ The sound of music” outside at night near the gazebo when the Captain admits his love for Maria. But here it’s not spoken- just deeply felt. .
They wanted to be together so badly again as friends and now willing to go for more but he felt compelled to stay with Silvi. It was so telling they wanted their connection after their kiss both of them didn't act funny or weird like it was a mistake. This series was such an emotional rollercoaster and I loved both of them through all the love and turmoil. The last two episodes nearly took me out it was such a crying fest.❤
This story hurts a lot because it is simply very real. We've all met a Dexter, an emotionally immature man who lives his life without knowing what he wants and is too cowardly and self-centered to appreciate what he has. And Emma, a good and incredibly talented person whose insecurity, lack of self-respect and low self-esteem corner her, preventing her from having the life she wants and being treated the way she wants. Both, due to their personalities, are orchestrators of their own misfortunes.
What formidable acting accompanied by such a relatable story… So much nostalgia of emmas and dexes we’ve all loved and lost at some point in our youth… And how the memories all came painfully resurfacing after years of suppression…
Netflix! I am asking for a second romantic series with Ambika and Leo. Emma and Dexter alternative ending for example, about their great love, wedding, children. Please! They are so great. The best on-screen couple I've ever seen.

At thirty-one, I've learned to interpret this type of kiss as the muscle memory of being close. Your heart notices the distance and begs for validation: "Are we still good?". It's simultaneously ultimately sincere and meaningless. Of course, for the series, this scene was part of a sensational romantic slow burn. But I've shared a kiss like this where it's only meaning was getting full closure. Just a final acknowledgement of the love you hold for the shared past, no longer longing for any of that to exist in the future. And there's peace and beauty in that too.
I’ve never read the book but I sat and watched this series in one day no pun intended and i was like get it together already and then towards then I was so devastated and crying at the end.
Too many "if onlys" come out of my mind after watching this drama... How they wasted their youth on fooling around and missing so much opportunity for themselves, How she desperate to have a child, How he waited for her in front of the House to come and have a dinner together that day. The only thing that I relieved that she did was the voice note, saying that she apologized, saying that she loved him, and saying goodbye... 😭😭😭

I know this scene reflects cheating and yes that’s wrong but this whole wedding scenes clearly show he ‘s trapped with someone he doesn’t love or want so it’s hard to really feel about what he does with Em. Also, his fiancée was so cold and unfeeling as well. She honestly didn’t care where he was or what he was doing except when she needed his buffering! The moment he saw Em at the wedding he just couldn’t keep his eyes from her. You could tell he was so in love with her. He never once thought to introduce his “fiancée “ to her. He searched Em out to talk. His whole tone telling Em about the kid and wedding, it clearly showed he wasn’t happy and just resigned to his fate. He purposely called it a “shotgun wedding”, so Em would clearly know that his fiancée was not who he truly wanted and he was only getting married because of the baby. By the way he initiated that kiss after Em’s heart felt confession and she followed giving in to what she really wanted. Oh and let’s not forget he couldn’t even tell his fiancée he was talking to Em when she called. He said “I’m with a group of friends”. That’s a dead give away that he felt guilty he was alone with Em because he really loves Em. On a side note I think by this scene he already knew he was in love with Em. I felt like the audience knew he was actually in love with Em and not his fiancée when he went to meet his fiancée’s family the first time. When they were in bed and she was mad he broke her nose playing the game. Dex was laying next to her and he has this silly love struck happy expression on his face and he was laughing because he was thinking of Em and how she would react to the situation and his fiancée got jealous accusing him of thinking of an ex. The his response she’s just a friend” in this wistful kind of dreamy way with that pure happiness grin on his face. It was so obvious where his heart truly was. Then right after he all of a sudden he felt the need to tell his fiancée he loves her for the first time. It felt like it was calculated appeasement because he knew she wasn’t wrong in being jealous of Em!

Binged watched this over the last two days. I enjoyed the show but was left disappointed/heartbroken with how it ended. I never saw the movie or read the book but I really thought we were going to get a happily ever after. The actors made me believe it was true love
I just finished binging this show in one sitting. It is truly once of the best tragic romantic comedy that's been produced for quite a while, that literally hits every genre I mentioned-the pining, the witty banter and its delivery which actually makes you laugh, and of course, the heart-twisting scenes that my nose got clogged. All of the characters were written with depth that you can empathize with them. Leo and Ambika were perfectly casted, as well. Just overall, a really good show.
Such a well done scene because the kiss isn’t this over the top sensual thing. It felt really natural and accidental and as an audience member you can forgive them

I love this scene so much! My most favorite episode (also happened in 1997 which is my birth year). In the episodes before this, there were times when they were alone together and they were about to kiss but Em just stops because in those times, Dex had a girlfriend or she still treats him as her best friend. But this time, I kind of think that she allowed herself to kiss Dex back eventhough it's wrong because she's also saying goodbye to the possibility the she and dex will be together. I cried so much here. My next favorite episode would be Episode 7. God! I love their fight scene so much hahaha

How crazy a production can be, when I felt so lucky as a viewer when they had scenes together. The insane hold over viewers is a credit to all involved but mostly the two leads. I'll be re-watching again. Maybe I'll turn off after episode 13.

Binged watched this over the last two days. I enjoyed the show but was left disappointed/heartbroken with how it ended. I never saw the movie or read the book but I really thought we were going to get a happily ever after. The actors made me believe it was true love

I just finished binging this show in one sitting. It is truly once of the best tragic romantic comedy that's been produced for quite a while, that literally hits every genre I mentioned-the pining, the witty banter and its delivery which actually makes you laugh, and of course, the heart-twisting scenes that my nose got clogged. All of the characters were written with depth that you can empathize with them. Leo and Ambika were perfectly casted, as well. Just overall, a really good show.

I love this scene so much! My most favorite episode (also happened in 1997 which is my birth year). In the episodes before this, there were times when they were alone together and they were about to kiss but Em just stops because in those times, Dex had a girlfriend or she still treats him as her best friend. But this time, I kind of think that she allowed herself to kiss Dex back eventhough it's wrong because she's also saying goodbye to the possibility the she and dex will be together. I cried so much here. My next favorite episode would be Episode 7. God! I love their fight scene so much hahaha

I didn’t buy them as a couple at first but they (specifically she) won me over.
How crazy a production can be, when I felt so lucky as a viewer when they had scenes together. The insane hold over viewers is a credit to all involved but mostly the two leads. I'll be re-watching again. Maybe I'll turn off after episode 13.
