Well, one of the reasons Pedri and Bellingham are played to death is that 1985-1989 generation of players didn’t retire around 30-32, so players born in 1994-1997 never really had a chance to become starts in their prime years.

This is excluding so much context. A team can have 30 players yes, but a manager always as a core 11, because no team has 30 fully trusted players. Also, not every team is just able to get 30 players. And, a lot of these players also are in their international squads too, and the same things apply there, no international squads has 30 fully trusted players.
Absolutely incredible video, well thought out and researched. Players should have a more of a voice when playing so much and for unimportant competitions like the nations league
@@tyronelorenzovalentio3414 fr man, at some point they’re just jeopardizing quantity over quality with the amount of games. The risk of injury is already scary
Definitely see the merits of your proposed cap. Only potential issue: someone framing it as a `restriction of labour' (the very legal issue that led to the Bosman ruling). But if the courts allowed it, I'd be all for it. For the issue itself, I blame Ranieri. Before he led Leicester to the PL title, the general consensus was that player rotation was necessary to prevent burnout / injury, and get the best out of your squad. But Leicester went with the same 11 every single game. Everyone took notice - if playing your best 11 gave such an edge that it could elevate even Leicester to the title, just imagine what the top teams could achieve if they followed suit!
Really interesting points. If you look at Arsenal in recent years, they’ve done a great job at being able to keep their best players fit. That’s helped them massively. If you contrast that with Man United for example, it’s been incredibly difficult for them to consistently start their strongest lineup due to injuries. That’s partly why they’ve underperformed by their standards. Like you said, with Leicester’s title win, it’s a massive advantage if you have that consistency. It’s just the current climate makes it almost impossible.
Thing is, Leicester didn't have to play European football, which was a huge advantage. A lot of pros weigh in on why continental football is such a huge energy drain. It's not just the 90 minutes played on the pitch, the travel, accomodation, training, adaptation; it's all physically and mentally exhausting compared to domestic football where most of the travel is done by bus and teams generally only travel on matchday and don't need to travel ahead of time to prepare.
@@dylanparker130 Leverkusen were regularly rotating in impact subs and making sure pressure was evenly stretched between players to make sure one player didn't have do overdo themselves. That's why when you look at their G/A tally, you'll see a lot of different player contributing instead one or two significant standouts.
Leicester had no European football, which arguably skewed perceptions of what is attainable. 2015/16 was an astonishing one-off like Greece at Euro 2004
Let some players play in the first half of the game and then let bench players play in the second half, that way you save the players from exhaustion, you let the bench players get equal amount of minutes and also this way the fans who came to see a certain player will see him
Its really unfurtante, lately players have been vocal about their mental health struggles and depression and it's also linked with this issue yet no one seems to talk about it
Here’s another solution: the unlimited subs model from American Basketball/football. It will allow every squad player to get more involved whilst preserving the fitness of the starting 11 throughout the season. There subs should be made at certain intervals to prevent time wasting.
I don’t think people understand/know how both mentally and physically draining this sport is. Many people say that American Football is much worse, and I have no clue as I have never played but holy I believe football is so much worse for humans to endure
I think a way out would be 1. Reduce the number of teams in top leagues. Does Prem or La Liga really need 20 teams? A prem in which TV money would go to 12-14 teams will be much more interesting and competitive. It will be painful for smaller teams, but the alternative is … a Super League, where top-clubs will keep the best players by controlling their game time and keeping rosters of 20+ players. 2. Scrape/shorten national cup competitions. Carabao cup is an anachronism. Super-cups are essentially pre-season games. In FA cup prem teams can join in in later stages as well. If there were just 12 or 14 of them, top-8 of the previous season can straight away start at 1/8 finals. All national cups should be one 90 minute game and then straight to penalties. No replays or two-legged rounds. This way there will be more upsets for bigger teams and less load in the players All in all the goal should be that a team with a core roster of 16-17 good players can go through the season comfortably. This will mean more clubs will be able to build a league challenging team.
Regulating playing time should just be what managers/owners do to keep all players fit for as long as possible, but WHAT ABOUT THE PROFIT LADS, BELLINGHAM IS MAKING THEM SO MUCH MONEY
If they limited the amount of game time they could play then teams would be more wary about signing young players which could harm their careers even more than the injuries would have
Maybe spreading he wages to have a bigger squad like a blue team in London could mean shared game time in he future instead of high ages and a small squad
If y'all think 40-50 games a season is too much, y'all should come to south america lmao, some players here be playing 60-80 games a season, specially those that play for brazilian teams
It’s just not football, I once played 5 hockey matches in a single week, each game running about 11km, on the Saturday I had 3 matches which I’ve ended up damaging my adductor Magnus which is still giving me problems 6 months later. It’s becoming a serious problem in all sports. Monday was match and training Wednesday was 2 separate training sessions Friday night was a game Saturday 3 matches In each of those games I’d be playing till the final 5 minutes where I’d get given a break or even let me leave early to get to the next match on time. It’s brutal
From my perspective I don't mind playing that many soccer games I'm projected to play around 140 soccer games in a year and I don't have an issue with that i love the game even tho I know it has consequences on my body I still do it
If this club World Cup must go ahead in the next couple of years, then it should be a substitute for pre season tours which I doubt clubs like Barca and real want to because of the revenue made from these tours. Nations league is also just not needed to replace friendlies. Those in power seem to have forgotten that these players’ bodies aren’t machine that can be upgraded like machines or only need an hour to get full rest physically and mentally like our devices do. It doesn’t. I just looked at the uefa 2026 qualifying calendar and the nations league scheduled match days. From 2025, they are a day apart. First leg of the nations league quarter final is on the 20tj of March. Match day 1 of the World Cup qualifiers is either on 21st or 22nd of March. Obviously this would have to be changed but then Match day 3 and 4 of the UEFA World Cup qualifiers fall between 6-10th June 2025z the club World Cup starts on the 15th of June and the semi finals of the nations league is on 4th or 5th of June. This isn’t just killing the players it’s killing the pockets of match going fans and even enjoying football. There’s too much of it and it’s being diluted because of the congestion of the increasing number of games
I think a good idea could be to have a subs system more like nba basketball where players can be subbed in or out any number of times. Or to increase the subs limit from 5 to say 6 or 7 while allowing those specific players that have been subbed off to come back on and vice versa meaning that the team would be 11+7 for example with that 7 being locked when they are picked to come on. Essentially allowing for the amount of full 90 or 120 minute games being played by individuals to come down. Would also mean that players that may not see the pitch in other circumstances could get more on field time.
That’s an interesting idea. Would also mean managers can have a greater chance of effecting games tactically. You could start a game with one system and be playing a completely different way by the end of the game.
Footballers need to go on strike. No money is worth that much to put your health at risk. They need to remove competitions such as Nation League or Cobra Cup (whatever that name is)
They should apply that solution also cause they are still minors !!! It doesn’t matter what kind of work they have it’s still having MINORS work + an amount of pressure . FIFA should listen
ik you will have heard this before but this channel will blow up if you stay consistent, it really reminds me of when football iconic and Alexander were small keep it up man!
I don't even follow football hardly at all and I can name 2 players who have had heart attacks in the last couple of years. Some of the greatest endurance athletes in the world are having heart attacks? Wut?
Force uefa to choose btwn nations league and original qualifires and only hold it during a wc or euro qualifying cut that nonsense and everything would be fine
This sis overexaggerating the impact of many games. Ronaldo and Messi at their peak were playing 60+ to 70+ games a season and it didn't affect them in any way

Thank you! Really kind of you to say that :)
The thing is teams are allowed to have up 30 players and it's up to the manager to trust and play them all.
@@victorsomosu123well it's upto the coaches to know how to rotate their players
Absolutely incredible video, well thought out and researched. Players should have a more of a voice when playing so much and for unimportant competitions like the nations league
Thank you so much :)
The nations league needs to be scrapped instantly
@@JLFootball123 Yes, I think Leverkusen were able to field roughly the same 11 week in, week out last season. Look at what they achieved!
2015/16 was an astonishing one-off like Greece at Euro 2004
they play to much with is to tiering, but this just shows how built different endurance athletes are who do more on a weakly basis
I worry about Lamine Yamal getting overused and useless by 25
Barca done it before gavi.. fatih... pedri.. and now yamal i hope they lerned from the mistakes
I believe we can do without the Nations League.. Euro is enough
Let some players play in the first half of the game and then let bench players play in the second half, that way you save the players from exhaustion, you let the bench players get equal amount of minutes and also this way the fans who came to see a certain player will see him
Barca's teenager Marc Bernal just tore his ACL and is out for a year. Even as an Atletico fan that's gut wrenching, the kid was balling
Barca is known for over working kids its so sad
Its really unfurtante, lately players have been vocal about their mental health struggles and depression and it's also linked with this issue yet no one seems to talk about it
Here’s another solution: the unlimited subs model from American Basketball/football. It will allow every squad player to get more involved whilst preserving the fitness of the starting 11 throughout the season. There subs should be made at certain intervals to prevent time wasting.
really well told story, and great editing. suprisded you don't have more subs!
Thank you so much! :)
I don’t think people understand/know how both mentally and physically draining this sport is. Many people say that American Football is much worse, and I have no clue as I have never played but holy I believe football is so much worse for humans to endure
This video underrated for real keep work bro
Thank you :)
I think a way out would be
This way there will be more upsets for bigger teams and less load in the players
All in all the goal should be that a team with a core roster of 16-17 good players can go through the season comfortably. This will mean more clubs will be able to build a league challenging team.
20 teams is goos
If somebody doesn't break Messi's 91 goal in calendar year when they have 86 GAMES, I would lose hope in this new football generation
No one can stay healthy long enough that was literally the point of the video 🤦♀️

Thank you. That means a lot 😁
the answer has been yes ever since the introduced the uefa nations league in the expansion of the champions league 6 matches group stages
Great video mate! Subbed :)
Thank you so much :)
Regulating playing time should just be what managers/owners do to keep all players fit for as long as possible, but WHAT ABOUT THE PROFIT LADS, BELLINGHAM IS MAKING THEM SO MUCH MONEY
By the end of 2025, u will have at least 500k subs, mark my words.
Wow, thank you so, so much. Hopefully one day we can reach those numbers :)
their lives will always be easier than me no matter what
If they limited the amount of game time they could play then teams would be more wary about signing young players which could harm their careers even more than the injuries would have
There's a reason that Gavin and Pedri are injury prone in their young 20s.
Really good work
Maybe spreading he wages to have a bigger squad like a blue team in London could mean shared game time in he future instead of high ages and a small squad
The executives' greed is destroying something we love? How am I not surprised…
Monday was match and training
Wednesday was 2 separate training sessions
Friday night was a game
Saturday 3 matches
In each of those games I’d be playing till the final 5 minutes where I’d get given a break or even let me leave early to get to the next match on time. It’s brutal
Thats in general a good idea its better for younger players to ha a time limit to get experience and recovery
I think increasing the amount of substitutions and players on the bench by 1 could help reduce even more minutes
Good vid but i think Restricting the players is unethical and costs should be cut instead of more games
Thank you :) And fair enough. I see exactly what you mean.

From my perspective I don't mind playing that many soccer games I'm projected to play around 140 soccer games in a year and I don't have an issue with that i love the game even tho I know it has consequences on my body I still do it
nations league is a waste of time
Just increase the squad size and bench size
Hasn’t it always been like this though?
Some leagues around the world already allow more than 3 substitutions.
Problem is that squad depth becomes even more important, and that further disadvantages the less wealthy teams
Footballers need to go on strike. No money is worth that much to put your health at risk. They need to remove competitions such as Nation League or Cobra Cup (whatever that name is)
Remove both, in messi era, they had less games to play so better performance.
International friendlies have to be scrapped club world cup is pointless new UCL format is just to get more money
Wut?
Coaches could just rotate more🤷♂️
In short: Yes
You know you might just take away friendlies before the season. Waste of time now and no need for the publicity now theres is more in betweens
Tell them to reduce their salary then
Yes
For the amount of money they are paid they should play more tf
Your just braindead. As a consumer like yourself, they are ruining the product or entertainment you buy, your getting scammed.
Are u jealous how much their making u bum 😂
60min league matches and 90 min ucl matches can also help i guess
Why don’t players complain
If they do some would be seen by fans as ungrateful and arrogant.....
@@ADM.II. which is true. That would make them arrogant and ungrateful
Force uefa to choose btwn nations league and original qualifires and only hold it during a wc or euro qualifying cut that nonsense and everything would be fine
That would mean clubs would overplay their superstars even more. We see less squad rotation
W video
Thank you :)
This sis overexaggerating the impact of many games. Ronaldo and Messi at their peak were playing 60+ to 70+ games a season and it didn't affect them in any way
Football statistically and scientifically speaking is much more physical demanding. So less games is more optimal. 40-50 is optimal.
Broo these people are athletes they are employees they don’t care about the average employee they should deal with it
Exactly
But ppl work 60 hours a week were is ur vid for them saying they need paid more football players are getting so cuddle by you

@@nassernathanfew jobs pay as well as football

Nah mate they are getting less fitter , back in the 80s and 70s , they played at worst levels fouls wise and fitnness wise and never complained
Your braindead. In the 80s and 70s they played much less games than today.. Did you listen to this video with your ears closed?
