My repair man said never buy LG or Samsung. At least they gave her a new one, but it was probably a long slow process, without a working refrigerator. That's terrible!!!
I remember an old water heater that always worked and never needed any maintenance - it was built maybe in the early 1940's before WWII when they built stuff to last a lifetime.
Best refrigerator are came from 1950's - 1960's simply because those "Tanks" still works well today even after half of century, meanwhile consider you were lucky if your state of the art "Smart Fridge" last more than 3 years.
As products get more "intelligent" they also get more unreliable. Best to use simple designs without all the AI printed circuits - they do not belong in areas subject to cooling and heating - they corrode or die. I just repaired a GE with printed circuit boards for temp selection - I had to "pinch" the circuit boards to get them to function long enough to set the temperatures - why no just use simple dials with less complexity and more reliablility??
This is very true. I had to change out all my “high” end appliances for simple ones and haven’t had any problems since. Well, except the rusting because they last so long. 😂
@@EastCoastReefer Thanks for the comment. It's true with cars, too, because those that buy the very expensive Cadillac's or the cars with everything find with aging many of the features no longer work or are prohibitively expensive to maintain. It seems foolish to have printed circuits inside refrigerators that have moisture and changing conditions - they'd need to be designed to handle the changes, but that obvious need is overlooked by the manufacturers. They tell you to just replace the parts, BUT why not provide parts that last the life of the product?
When we purchased our first microwave oven, my husband said it was No not wise to get the electronic paneled one because they would have issue, so we got the one with the knobs instead. It ran like a top, for years. We gave it to my son, when the products got smaller. I guess the panels vs knobs still applies, if there were only knobs.
LOL...pinching the circuit boards, which I MIGHT have tossed across the room! I read that the issue re: lawsuits was that the insulation between the icemaker, and the lower temps in the refrigerator section was just flimsy, and thin. Just your basic company skimping on the products.
@@jeanmader2302 It's just that the circuit boards should NOT be exposed to the inside of the refrigerator - the moisture will ruin them in a short time. I'm happy pinching the assembly allowed it to work so I could set the refrigerator.
