i personally like this one as is X5 also *technically* has one but it's just a rendition (funnily enough slightly different from the actual used one) of the Null Space 1/Zero Virus 1 track. it had a LOT of unused stage select tracks, though.
@@marx4538 I recently played the X5 Improvement Project hack. It brought a lot of unused themes back, uncluding the unused DuffMcWhalen stage theme. It also fixed almost every problem I had with the original, making it the definitive version of X5 for me.

it doesn't actually, it just shows the ones that have been recently activated. the only thing the game doesn't do is tell you that nightmare effects are permament in xtreme mode and they can only be switched around, but overall, it's easy to learn after a playthrough. if there's a system that i have absolutely no fucking idea how it works, it's the x8 intermission system, which sometimes doesn't even appear on a playthrough or appears multiple times, no matter what ranks i have and what i collect, alongside the absolutely bullshit Vava/Vile MkV system that seems to be pure rng, making the Rival Revival achievement a pure pain in the ass. x5's enigma and parts systems are a bit of a load of shit aswell, but once you know how they work, you will 99% succeed. aside from that one time where the rng breaks and decides to screw you up even on shuttle with best odds, but that's just RNG to you, at least it's explained.

There is no another stage select theme aside from this one in this game if I remember correctly which is weird since up till then I think this is the only game it didn't.

This is why I play the MMX6 Restoration Rom. Because you can turn off Nightmare FX permanetly.
