Debbie was so strong to finish like that. Fantastic to watch again all these years later. Bruce a legendary commentator.

All good! How did you find this?

I just put her name into the search box. There's only ever been the British and American coverage of this race when I've looked in the past, so finding this was a thrill. I remember watching it live when I was only 7 years old, and in combination with Duncan Armstrong's win in the 200 metres Freestyle at the same Games, I've been an Olympic-tragic ever since.

Bruce's commentary of everything is legendary! Lol.
Debbie's gold has always been a fond memory for me also, aged just 11 myself, I still recall watching her win and being completely thrilled, especially with the way she won. Great memory!

Only 1 US, Australian and GB runner and all the rest from shall we say tainted programs. Great effort from an absolutely deserving Olympic champion!

Hard to believe rather than dipping and leaning forward, the athlete in the lead LEANED
    BACKWARDS on the line!

She did same mistake in 1992 Olympic finals too and finished 4th 🙃

FACT: Before Debbie's post race chat with Stephen, she also chatted with Jim Rosenthal of British television.

She talked to Quartermaine first but due to a technical hiccup Channel 10 could only show the ITV interview before they showed the Aussie clip

Good to see the Aussie beat the three Euro drug cheats
By the way isn't it good manners to let media from the winner's country have the first interview ?
Instead we get a typical Brit who just wanted to talk about Brit athletes !

I think you’ll find that Quarters got the first interview in. But they didn’t have a live feed of it, just recorded on tape then played back later in the telecast.
