Would absolutely love to see a full 10 year recap from you after this. Highlighting your favorite players, the best performers, biggest surprises and biggest let downs. Go over champions and awards over the decade, etc etc. this is such a great watch.
Also King Felix leaving for the Yankees at the end killed me. It is also interesting that Ichiro doesn't seem to be a player in this? Not even at the start when he should have still been on the Mariners?
The record for most hits in a World Series is 13, by Lou Brock/Marty Barrett/Bobby Richardson. So David Wright didn't just break that record, he incinerated it. And from the brief look of his game log he already had tied the record through five games and broke it in Game 6. 😱
Marty Barrett (1986) and Bobby Richardson (1960) did theirs in losing efforts, interestingly enough. Richardson got the WS MVP nonetheless while Barrett didn’t when the Red Sox blew it, as we all know how…
As a Marlins fan this feels like they really understood the Marlins philosophy. Have good players, lose them, & then just don't replace them. I'm surprised they didn't freak out and trade Stanton after that MVP season
Gotta love Miguel Sano having the ability to play shortstop at 250 lbs. also did him dirty by saying his personality is "always has snacks in his locker"
Man, I don't think any player would live down having a season ending injury over such a stupid reason. Clayton Kershaw is going to be the laughingstock of the clubhouse when he gets back. OOTP has a lot of bizarre ways for player to get injured; I once saw J.T. Realmuto get suspended for an incident in managing a nightclub.
I bet that's partially because of the inclusion of the pioneer (18-flippidy-dipp as Baily calls it sometimes) era when players such as Jim McCormack retired from baseball at age 30 to pursue their true passions: being bartenders
I had one guy, I think it was Bryan Mata, just retire after his rookie year around Christmas time, because he had a career-ending injury involving his dog
Seriously, Felix going to the Yankees (which was every real life Mariners fan’s greatest fear in 2012) made me want to vomit…just cruel…maybe more cruel than watching the deterioration of the real life Felix.
You're totally right. Unfortunately I discovered that tab way too late. I'll have a video at the conclusion of the series with all the important players' final stats.
In fairness, a lot of ppl saw Lawrie becoming this after his insane 43-gm debut but he just drank 412 Red Bulls a day and spontaneously combusted (a fate I'll someday meet as well)
bill simmons, founder of the ringer and basketball and to a lesser extent football analyst/commentator, says "if we simulated this players career 1000 times is the current career on the good end or the bad end?" - this is a good way to see disappointing careers a second chance
Japhet Amador is a first baseman in the Mexican League, apparently in real life 2013 he was signed by the Astros to triple A but he missed the first three weeks of spring training 2014 because his pregnant wife got sick which pretty much torpedoed his chances to play in MLB :\ Apparently this simulation is giving him a shot at last! Fun fact: He was 330 pounds when the Astros signed him and is known as "El Gigante de Mulegé"
Well, I'd have to figure out how to get those old rosters (along with every minor leaguer from that era and the upcoming eras) into there. I am not sure that I have the wherewithal to do that.
Not that it matters now, but you could have made the Astros play a proper schedule if you have just hit the Generate Schedule button on the League Structure screen when you moved them.
I'm not sure if you've already finished recording this series, but if not you should definitely stream the rest! I (and i think others) would love to be there for the process
1:15 43 Bailey shows Robinson Cano's contract and you can see his no trade clause. From what I could tell, he would immediantly use his clause if the Red Sox tried to trade him to the Mets, White Sox, Pirates, Orioles, and Royals. Just something random I noticed.
I love this series idk if you'll do more but seeing the royals do bad in sim was wondering if you would ever do a video about that 2015 royals team and how they literally broke the mlb system.... Also that Cain trade absolutely killed me my favorite royal ever I still hope he ends his career in KC
I saw Jeremy Hefner on the Mets in the All-Star game and thought the game had accidentally turned a coach into a player- wild the stuff this series digs up.
I feel like he is trying to keep his bias out and limit how much he mentions the Braves. After the first in season update though I was curious about him checking out why they were in last despite being projected as a top finisher
That’s almost like real life. In 2014, they were picked to win the division, were in first place for most of the season and finished under .500. Then to top it off, they had a dreadful 2015 and 2016. It did lead to a WS win though!
The A's have been in all 4 of the AL wild card games so far in this save. They were in the first ever one in 2012 in which they lost to the twins in Minnesota. They then hosted the next 3 and beat Detroit in 2013 before losing to the eventual world series champion Mariners in 4 games. Then for the 2 games in this video both times they hosted the Angels. They won the first one before losing in 5 games to the eventual AL Champion Rangers. Then they lost the second one to the Angels who went on to win the AL pennant too. Overall each season they keep winning more games going from 81, 85, 88, to 95 wins in 2015. And naturally in their best season they lose in a 1 game playoff round. Overall pretty accurate that the A's would be in the most wild card games, the only inaccuracy is them actually winning 2 and hosting the majority of them.
SIgning Felix Hernadez is something the actual Yankees would do. Just get those superstar players on a large contract and also someone that is aging looking to win now.
My Mariners and Dbacks duke it out in the previous world series and have a riveting game 7, and now my Dbacks run it back to actually win the world series? Holy shit this is my dream universe
i feel completely different about DeGrom, i think this is a rare universe where he isn’t healthy and started pitching later and got called up late, i think lots of the time someone as good as him would be giving us a Kershaw esque prime in terms of years.
At this pace this is going to be a 10 hour long series, and I’m definitely here for it!

It's just a matter of time before this simulation replaces my actual memory of this time period.
Sleep with the series playing every night.. Will be your memory in no time.
as an M's fan, I'm okay with that: currently just living vicariously through Felix's reign of terror
a very funny video concept would be going through the actual results from this decade from the point of view of someone in the baileyverse
The Mariners winning 96 games and winning the world series, then immediately missing the playoffs is the most Mariners thing ever
Wouldn't be the worst case of that; the 1998 Marlins lost 108 games immediately after winning the World Series.
Also King Felix leaving for the Yankees at the end killed me. It is also interesting that Ichiro doesn't seem to be a player in this? Not even at the start when he should have still been on the Mariners?
@@Marty_McDye I thought ichiro was traded to the yankees in 2010 or somthing?

David Wright is your world series MVP... 😍
For the Arizona Diamondbacks 😅
The simulation is designed to cause psychic damage to Mets Fans.

I swear as an IRL "Brandon Belt is underrated" dumbass, seeing him consistently be just below the people Bailey talks about is fucking torture
50:51 "the blue jays draft child genius and gifted athlete Luis Urias out of Penn State University"
Gotta love Miguel Sano having the ability to play shortstop at 250 lbs. also did him dirty by saying his personality is "always has snacks in his locker"
Sano at short gives me Troy Glaus vibes
Bailey 99% is low balling it. You're definitely right 99.7% of the time. The other .3% obviously being when you're debating Jeff Passan
Tigers signing Josh Johnson was pretty much the RL equivalent of when they signed Anibal Sanchez
Loved the stretch of success the Tigers had in the simulation, still accurate to IRL though, could never win it all
If we get a true lockout you should just OOTP the 2022 season day by day
You can regenerate the schedule in the settings
Ryan Ludwick 6 War reminds me of the time I hit 100 bombs with him in Mlb 9 innings 12

Just a suggestion, I feel like it'd be a good idea to show retirements at the end of each season also just to see how that shakes out every year

that's okay the Pirates didn't NEED those wild card appearances in '13 or '14 or '15
or the winning records
it's fine, we're fine
Yeah, what’s another decade or so of losing when you’ve already suffered twenty years anyways?
We’re fine, it’s fine, this is fine
As a Mets fan, I hear you.
At least David Wright gets to have a full career

I was having a blast watching Felix become an absolute monster. Then the 2015/6 Offseason happened...
There is functionality to regenerate schedules. Good to know for the future. Love the series so far!
You can still access the Off-season Center on Opening Day!! You need to go to Transactions and it will be the first tab on the left!
Can’t wait to see how long this goes I’m all in for it! 💙 such a smart little series
I'd love to do a simulation starting similar to this starting in 81. I'd love to see a redo of Strawberry and Doc Gooden's career. Or Lonnie smith!
How long do you want it to go? We would be watching for around 50 hours
Well, I'd have to figure out how to get those old rosters (along with every minor leaguer from that era and the upcoming eras) into there. I am not sure that I have the wherewithal to do that.
I’m really loving the parity we’re seeing with the World Series winners. A lot of fun team doing well to win it all
Not that it matters now, but you could have made the Astros play a proper schedule if you have just hit the Generate Schedule button on the League Structure screen when you moved them.

RNG attacked Byron Buxton. We just witnessed the murder of a man on this channel.
If only wright never got hurt

the 2015 playoffs with 6 west division teams feels kind of wild i'm loving it
I need to know where Brock Holt is, at the start of the save, he'd be in the Pirates systems, but I'm not sure where he'd be now...
