He is sooo funny. I am 80 and never realised how completely innocent I was till I started watching Ricky. Since my husband died 18 months ago and I am dying, who else could make me laugh.❤️
I worry about my nana, if she's alone and falls, does she make a sound?
Nobody asked...
@@Notconceitedjustbetterthanyou what are you talking about
Lots of other comedians are funnier than gervais
Try Kevin Bridges, my favorite comedian
I’ve always loved how Ricky will bust out laughing at his own joke like he’s the one in the audience watching a comedian.
*burst There are indeed people that laugh at their own jokes, but Gervais isn't one of them. He points up an absurd situation and laughs (with the audience) at that. Not him being funny but the situation being trenchant. Not the same thing. Read more Karl Pilkington, my suggestion.
@@1258-Eckhart most of the time he laughs before the audience if you pay very close attention to the facial twitches you see it
A joke is basically an absurd premise exaggerated for comedic value, this is why observational comedians generally speaking have longer carrers than the single "my girlfriend said/did this" or the "i was on the train the day" comedians that just make stuff up for laughs, they all have their place in the game i guess im just glad most people can finally see the difference between twisted reality and made up premises
And in english... "bust out laughing" and "burst into laughter" are both perfectly fine and interchangable
@@hamoostaffat incorrect. Bust out laughing can not be interchanged with the correct, “burst out laughing”.
If you’re trying to be one of the cool kids and speak like the gang rappers, then it would correctly be “buss out laughin”.
Yw…
@@4th_Lensman_of_the_apocalypse then you might want to speak to the editors of the Cambridge and Oxford English dictionaries that both state that the variation is burst out not bust out
A simple Google search would have told you this in seconds
@@hamoostaffat google’s for the gullible and conspiracy theorists!
"That's not a song; that's a conversation with Rain Man." Perfect!
I like "We Didn't Start the Fire", but Ricky's not wrong there.
@@milesjolly6173 Same here. I'm a lifelong (many decades) fan of Billy Joel but that song is a list put to a musical backing.
I am a big Billy Joel fan too and just to say, yes I know this is comedy and I certainly had no reason to be bothered by it and do not feel that comfortable even making this post, but did so just for context reasons regarding how the song came to be.
And yes it is still a list and he usually writes the music first and then adds lyrics to his songs, but he had turned 40 in 1989 when it was written and in a conversation with some 20-somethings, they had said it was a significant time in history with the end of the Cold War approaching and when Billy said he remembers a similar thing at their age, they said nothing significant happened back then.
So originally just as a mental exercise, he listed in chronological order year by year the significant events and people from the year he was born in 1949 to the then present day. The "We Didn't Start the Fire" line was in response to it also being said that the current day's problems were down to the previous generation, so Billy's response was:
We didn't start the fire
It was always burning, since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No, we didn't light it, but we tried to fight it
As Einstein said, "The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything."
I think the world will be destroyed by those who do evil as crowds cheer them on.
I think the world will be destroyed by lefty 'activists' who believe they're doing the right thing but slowly destroying society and forcing us into this weird cult that is wokeness.
Wtf are we supposed to do against the government
And yet here we have them: Russia, China and the US. We’re fucked anyways, lol
Einstein was part of the status quo and that’s a classic method of psychological manipulation to blame the victim for their own demise.
I love how some random bloke just goes “SUUUUUUIIII” at 6:28
Gay
Was Ronaldo there in 2004? 6:27 SIUUUU
It's interesting how much he improved between this and Humanity. His delivery and rhythm became so much more energetic and natural over the years
He was on a lot of US radio shows like Jim Norten and Sam Roberts in the years between. Can tell he really honed the stand up element of his game during those interviews.
@@llcooltomjohn that's some leap....
Your wife says the same about you.
Disagree...I thought his first 2 stand up shows were by far his best and he has progressively got worse.
@@jimalteri8169 nah mate, he did a shitty talkshow in the US a couple of times and apparently that helped him 'hone his skill'
6:26 The first ever siiiiuuuuu
We didn't start the fire came out when I was in my late teens. I already had an interest in history, but that song cemented it. I wanted to know what every person and event in it was. Now, more than 30 years later, I am a historian and archaeologist and a history teacher. List/conversation with rain man it may be to some, but to at least one teen, it inspired a lifelong passion.
Every Punchline was a Hit, amazing 😂😂😂
Love Ricky so funny brings tears your eyes in a good way
Ricky is the best comedian this country has ever produced
I know there are some good comedians who have come out of Britain 🇬🇧 don't get me wrong ;
But Ricky is the top one
"It was a jacket..." - hilarious.
People like RG make the world a better place to live!
It was once said that when they originally found Stephen Milligan he was wearing a rangers fc jersey but the police changed him into women's clothing to save the family the embarrassment
😂😂😂😂
😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The way you describe loving war gets me everytime. I still love the one about Noah and his Ark. It's too much. 🤣🤣
I absolutely adore Ricky’s lectures 😂
I can't have been the only one to hear the "suiii" in the background noise of laughter
I nearly died when he mentioned the jacket. But I was thinking, if you show up to the interview in the bag, explain that you had unexpected diarrhea on the way in, and then how motivated you were to make the interview, you might have a shot. Have to be a hell of a salesman to pull it off, though.
We Didn't Start the Fire was actually inspired by a friend of a friend who told Billy he had it easy because he grew up in the '50s, and "everyone knows that nothing happened in the '50s." The point was that life is a giant bundle of chaos. Always has been, always will be.
Still kind of a weird song, but it's catchy and it comes with a good story, soooo... idk. Just thought I'd share.
All that stuff about changing the asphyxy wanking to suicide is literally the plot of the Robin Williams movie Worlds Greatest Dad that was made about 5 years after this.
Cold shivers: I remember the Buddhist monk from my teens. It was in my local park in Ruislip. What's a Buddhist I thought wow, he's pretty serious about his religion. just like the Catholics I was raised with. After a quick check as to how many different major religions existed with so many clearly serious believers, I became agnostic and never went back to the RC church again.
You were a Rosary Rattler too eh? I dabbled in Satanism until I was asked to leave. Religion and I cancel each other out.
When I heard of the monk, I was like "what a berk"
Agnostic is the default position really. I dont know how anyone can be 100% convinced either way.
@@mrdarren1045 It is but it is almost infinitely more likely that the universe originated naturally and wasn't poofed into existence by some omnipotent entity from another dimension.
You don't have to be certain to be a RC. Enjoy the mysteries and enjoy God's glory is why I am still RC. As for scandals, there have been scandals everywhere in a lot of places but it shouldn't make you forget a loving God.
Absolutely hilarious, so funny and just the things you talk about with your friends. He is one of the best.
Ricky Gervaise is sheer genius. One of the four funniest comedians of all time. Billy Connolly Robin Williams, Michael McIntyre and of course Ricky. These four men reduce me to helpless tears of laughter
So sad that we've lost Robin and Billy's had to retire. Fortunately their DVDs live on.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
One of these is not like the others.... but to each their own haha :)
Add George Carlin and Mitch Hedberg
Absolutely, these are exactly my four favourite comedians too. Ricky, Billy, Michael and Robin all make me die laughing. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I had a mate like that growing up..I still bump into him now and again when I go for a haircut..i just saya hello..
Self immolation is never a "threat or deterrent", but a last ditch self sacrificial awareness raiser move. It simply cannot be argued, the Buddhists' state in Vietnam at the time gained worldwide attention. What's truely tragic though, if one's act of the sort gets successfully covered up by authorities, and it was all for nothing.
I fair nigh pissed myself when he said the guy cut the corners out of the carrier bag to make pants.......with the Levy log on it too .......don't ever die Ridky we need to have a good belly laugh frequently before we roll over and do it again.
That story about the bloke shitting himself is a direct steal from Spike Milligan.
Repeating an urban myth that Ricky's friend claimed happened to his brother (which Ricky doubts anyway) is not a steal, especially when it was not Spike Milligan's to begin with.
Ricky is a brilliant talent Clever comedy
One hell of a guy .....AMAZING .❤❤❤
Ricky’s older stand ups are so much better
Animals and Politics are great
I've gone from tory to Labour within a few months. I served my country under thatcher and co for 24 yrs in the artillery . Had to sell my medals after I came home in 2012 because wasn't legible for benefits after I didn't qualify for being abroad for so long. 🤣
Sorry to hear that. Yeah heartless idiotic bureaucracy. Nothing common about common sense
ye ,if you think a labour government would care about an ex squaddie your very mistaken.
Can't stand the Tory filth, but Labour are hardly the party that champions army veterans, lol. Become apolitical. You don't have to pick sides.
@@raminybhatti5740 I guess a lot of folks have become apolitical over the years because of inaction from political parties.
If they don't deliver then folks won't vote and they don't in droves.

_”it was a jacket”_ 😳 … hilarious!
RYAN STARTED THE FIRE! 😂
They get a glimpse of themselves in the mirror... 😂
The joke about the guy's mum leaving tea and biscuits is one I have heard from a number of comedians over the years. I think the first time I heard it was David Baddiel or Rob Newman in the early nineties.
Yeah, heard it from Baddiel and others since (still a great gag though!) Also heard the "shat on a train" before, Splike Milligan told it many years ago - again, still a great gag, worthy of repeating!
@@robertfrazer8161 I thought I'd heard it before, and Spike was laughing so hard he was struggling to finish the story.

Yesssss up Crewe. First time I’ve heard it mentioned ever
Tie one end into a loop, pass the other end through, pull tight and hold it with your teeth. When you pass out, jaw goes slack, knot slips.....or don't.

"Dangling to and fro.."
Excellent 😂😂😂
I actually had a friend who died that way when I was 19. So sad. His little sister found him.
Milligan was one of Thatcher's bright little boys.
The other way is much worse. I'll never forget the day I came home from school early and walked in on my mom going to town on herself. I finally figured out what the thing in her nightstand was though.
"going to town on herself" - you deserve a medal for that.
Geez! Well it is perfectly natural but im sorry if you we re traumatised!
Pics?
Going to town on herself... hilarious
She should have just locked the door
That shitting himself joke was a Spike Milligan joke from Parkinson.
Indeed it was a Spike story👍
Agree. But Spike got it from Eric Sykes in the 50s. So a 3rd hand joke.
@@scouterkeith Yea, Eric updated it from a coach and horse .
But the way Spike told them, i never bought it. The way Gervais does though, that hits home. BTW that was the second "Milligan" in this clip.

Tory
noun
plural noun: Tories
1. (in the UK) a member or supporter of the Conservative Party.
"a poll showed the Tories thirteen points behind Labour"
2. US a colonist who supported the British side during the War of American Independence.
just FYI lol
The word Tory originates from the Irish language.[5] The Irish word toruighe is suggested as the origin for the term Tory, with toruighe being used in the 16th century to describe "an outlaw papist" or a "robber that is noted for outrages and cruelty"
Tory, on Wikipedia.
Tory was a political party, Founded 1678, Dissolved 1834. Conservative is the successor party. It isn't accurate that a US colonist supporting Britain was one, they'd have to support the Tory party.
Yeah he was tossing teh sausage ken🤪
It was a JACKET! 😂😂😂
But tbh, you could make shorts with suspenders from an Ikea bag and claim it's fashion 😂😂

Do Millets stock Levis... ? Thought it was a more outdoors type of store...
Sad that of all the comments I'm able to reply, but yes they did, I worked in Millets in the early 90s on a Saturday, the Levis were connected up by a wire through their belt loops to an alarm to stop people nicking them 🤣 Dull but true.
I am normal well said

😂😂
The story about the man who threw his shitty pants out of the train window to find he'd got a jacket is from Keith Floyd's book Floyd on Hangovers (only in that case it was a ladies cardigan, not a jacket).
Nope it's a story stole from spike milligan
@@1man1bike1road It is an urban myth, although even Spike Milligan said it was a true story when he told it.
And just like that I gained a new fantasy
Thankyou for respecting Bob Dylan.
