Never used a grill before and bought this to sear some steak. Thanks for the video!
Hope they turn out great!
Very useful video for match lighter installation.
Glad it helped
The screwdriver is for mounting the back-up match holder and chain to the oven
What screwdriver?
excellent video bud thank you
No problem
Wrap tinfoil on the drip tray in the big horn for easy cleanup 👌
It's alright, not too bad to clean.
Try putting the chimney over the top of the steak. Cooks from IR, it's intense and still gets charcoal flavor. Be careful when you lift it up or you'll base your steak with ash.
Chimney?
@@ItsBinhRepairedhe means the bottom of your charcoal grill.
@michaelvivirito oh, the heat deflector?
@@ItsBinhRepaired nope he means put the steak under your chimney bbq pit
@@ItsBinhRepaired I’ve never tried that before and I don’t have a chimney style bbq pit. I do have the big horn and I’m loving it so far. It’s intense and easy. I don’t have time for charcoal
I think the gas looked better. I cook a little less and let rest a bit longer. Also give the cat some. 😂thanks
Cat got unseasoned steak
Do you still love your Bighorn? I used to sous vide and sear but searing made a mess around the kitchen. I switched to cooking my steaks in a Ninja Foodie XL smart grill in the garage. Super easy and easy to clean. I miss the sous vide and sear so watching this might help me get back into it. Just need to find a place outside for the Bighorn.
Also, cant really clean the inside top section huh? Does oil buildup over time?
The ir things burn so hot, you don't have to worry about cleaning them. I just clean the grills/racks, drip pan, rack removal tool, and that heat deflector thing in it. I line the bottom with foil coming out past that base heat shield thing that extends out for easier cleaning.
I love the bighorn, but I like the flavor of the charcoal chimney for searing a bit more. The reason I got the bighorn is because I cook steaks and lamb skewers at my friend's house every so often, but they live in a place with a bunch of Karens. They saw the smoke and complained saying that we can't BBQ because it's a fire hazard and the HOA doesn't allow it. The bighorn puts out little to no smoke, so I can sear the steaks and cook the lamb without them knowing. XD
@@ItsBinhRepaired that's insane, thanks for sharing!
My best friend said they can't eat steaks at restaurants anymore after having my steaks. They now have me cook steaks whenever they are in the mood for steaks. Lol
@ItsBinhRepaired that's awesome man. I've been trying to do just steaks for lunch and dinner so been doing costco ribeyes. Always looking for better and easier ways to cook. I might bite on the Bighorn. I may just throw everything in the dishwasher. It's dishwasher safe I assume?
@Vash610 haha Yeah, I cooked them using my charcoal chimney grill and auto rotating kebab grill for a long time, then suddenly a karen complained like 3 times in a row and then called the landlord... lol so I switched to the bighorn. Glad it was a decent alternative. Propane is also a bit less of a hassle to get going.
Got the insta-sear model that I think is an exact copy of Big Horn's. Do you have a grill cover that fits it decently?
Cover?
@@ItsBinhRepaired I am leaving it outside in a screened in porch. I know it is stainless steel, so not too worried about corrosion, but still want to take care of it.
@@bryant0smith didn't come with a cover.
Nice vid. You say your steaks are best. Can you share how you season before you seal them??
@ItsBinhRepaired okay I'm actually using kinder's blend right now lol. Thanks!
It really depends on your taste to be honest, but salt, pepper, and garlic powder or granulated garlic. I found this kinders blend is pretty good for a more consistent flavor, but I like to adjust it to my taste. Usually I put more salt, but my friend really liked the kinders mix. ruclips.net/video/lQdb8AdPids/видео.html
I wrote a super long comment and it disappeared. Hang on lol
Here's a video I did with more of the cooking process ruclips.net/video/hfZzzbIXJAs/видео.html
If you have 1cm think steaks, you can skip the sous vide part and go straight to the infrared grill top rack position a minute on each side. They come out great.
For thicker steaks 1" +, my family likes them more on the rare side, so I sous vide to 127f for about 2 hours, then sear.
How do you like your steak? Charred black
@@EggplantOven no, well seared. You have no idea what you're missing if you think those steaks look bad.
Cute cat
Thanks!
What does the chain do? Is it necessary to setup?
It's just there to keep the match holder in place. If you have a AAA battery and the igniter works then it's not necessary.
@@ItsBinhRepaired thx ur the goat
No problem
Is this Steve Jobs? One more thing. One more thing. One more thing ❤❤❤
@@missinglink_eth yup
@@ItsBinhRepaired I appreciate all the details added to the end. All great points. Have you tried pizza in it? I have an Ooni pizza oven and it’s great. But this gets hotter and I could downsize my gadgets.
@@missinglink_eth I haven't tried cooking pizza. I don't really cook raw pizzas.
Can I leave it outdoors like my regular propane grill?
I'm assuming you could, but I wouldn't.
@@ItsBinhRepaired why?
@@Johnsmith-do2js The knob and starter might be damaged, especially if it gets rained/snowed on.
Dude, I need to send you a knife just for unboxing
Send one, and I'll is it in my videos. :P
I still don’t understand where to hook in the other end of the match lighter
What do you mean? The match lighter is just used to hold a match so you can put it into the back of the device to light it if you don't have a battery to spark it on or the electrical lighting system is damaged.
Firefighter is probably referring to the diagram/picture in the instruction book. I thought the same thing…. That is why I am watching this video. The picture/diagram shows the other end of the matchstick attached to the back of the grill. We weren’t sure where to attach it either.
I see
34 minutes to unbox? Dude…edit the video down!! This entire thing could be 5 mins.
You can include all the same info in 5 minutes? I don't think so...
@@ItsBinhRepaired maybe you’re right. Maybe 5 1/2 or 6. I’m just trying to help. If you edit this down, you’ll get more views. It’s too long. Think of why someone is searching. They don’t want a documentary on a simple object.
You don’t have to listen to the criticism if you don’t want to. I’m not trying to be mean.
Are you sure it was 34 minutes. Could it have been 33 or 32 minutes? Jeez, your comment far less interesting than the “34” minutes I thoroughly enjoyed. I learned a lot while you were fiddling with your stopwatch. PS: Try investing 34 minutes to learn how “fast forward” works.
@@efreutel hahaha
@KrisVComm I get it. Everyone likes different content. Personally I'd rather not spend hours editing a video down. The videos I take the time to edit don't get more views and cause me a lot of frustration.
way to work on the ground
Heh heh table unnecessary. :P
The question everyone has: Does it taste like a steakhouse steak???
@efreutel my steaks taste better than any steak I've had in a restaurant. Lol My best friend said I ruined restaurant steaks for them. Lol I personally prefer my charcoal chimney method of searing, but this works extremely well without the smoke issue charcoal has.
