Mate... not even started & your heart rate was 122bpm.. definitely sign that your heart rate is working more than it should be & 162bpm after 1 minute with a relatively slow start. Just do Z1/2 rides for the time being.. get well soon.. I had a chest infection & it took me a further week to get rid of my illness & start finding some form again!
@@darrenvandit yea, was dumb to start. But I felt okay already off the bike. It was when the race started when I felt it wasn't okay yet. Thank you for your kind words!
I can relate to your eagerness to return. Missing riding pretty bad as I'm now fighting a cold right after getting back from holiday. Racing if you suspect you're starting to get sick is also a bad idea - I once did with a sore throat, somehow managed to win but couldn't get out of bed for the next few days.
While there will people who will tell you that you should take it easy, I understand what you meant about how'd you feel, had you quit - and I admire your determination to finish. It is important to me that I finish what I start, I feel really poorly about myself if I quit. Feel better and take care.
I did my first zwift race with Race score yesterday, I am at 467, so in the old cat C I completed the race with 3.1w/kg average and mid pack where I would expect to be, the 3 guys that podiumed the race all did 3.6/3.7w/kg and have pace group partner B but had on average a race score of low 400 ( 405-410 ). Not sure the zwift race score is really doing the job it is meant to be doing atm.
@@talonlan Remember that now there is 5 groups instead of previous 4. So current C is higher in terms of skill than the previous C. Having said that: a) it will take some time for the racing score to settle and everyone to get to their "true" level b) if you are at the bottom of the group it is fine to get dropped, doesn't mean that the system is flawed (there is always going to be a skill ramge within a category)
@@RoadtoA my point was that a person able to ride at 3.7w/kg shouldn't have a lower racing score than someone only able to manage 3.1w/kg. With my racing score being right in the middle of the category I don't ever expect to see a top 10 but I do expect that the people beating me by 3 minutes have a higher racing score.
@@talonlan Gotcha. But they won't have a lower racing score, long term. The system needs data, and it's been out only a week. I am preparing a video on this very topic, so stay tuned!
Well Adam that is life! You cant be performing great every race. Of course probably a mistake doing a race but when your so ready for a race why not give it a chance and see how it goes which you also did!! You should probably have stopped when you felt really bad, but with my 6 years experience spinning I do understand to continue that iron mental will but sometimes you need to back off a little maybe. You got the experience now until next time it will happen to become sick. Still a cracking effort imo and your sprint power is outstanding
Thank you! It would have been definitely smart to stop the second I felt it's bad. On the other hand, if I did, I might have had mental doubts on whether that was correct decision, etc. etc. Thankfully now I feel already good, so it looks like I didn't do any damage that day.
you are significantly ruining your body and delay recovery probably by several days. Your health come first before fitness. Older and wiser you might understand that body will need longer time to recovery and that patience until you really feel good will reward back with faster time back to fitness.

@@eloann yeah, it can be easy to get into the "FOMO" mode. But it is really the best to heal up first.

You are 100% correct.
I felt pretty good going to the race but I should have stopped when I knew it wasn't it. Lesson learned.

rebuild your base for 2-4 weeks and go back to racing, dont kill your self on the bike
170 bpm with zone 2 power
I am already fine! And I felt fine before the race started too, it was only when the effort got high when I felt that was a dumb decision to race. 🙂

@@RoadtoA i have 120bpm before every race and its fine (bcs of caffeine, citrulline and arginine :) )
