Ive been in the position(twice) where you have to wet the lips of a loved one just to provide some comfort in their last few hours. God this one hits hard.
I honestly love this movie/musical so much. Say what you will about the movie, but it’s my favorite screen adaption of a musical that I’ve watched so far-besides, maybe, Mamma Mia. I liked Les Miserables, as well, but Rent is by far my favorite.
You are the one who fills that empty part in my stomach, you are the one that lightens my day, you are the one who warms my heart on a cold winter night, you are the one that makes a baby no longer cry. You are my lover, my friend, the other half of my heart. I love you Sadie, and i always will.
I have this song on my myspace...its so sad...and watching how everyone's life is changing and how Angel's health gets worse and seeing him die....its heartbreaking...this is my favorite song by far. And when the people disapear...its depressing. But I think the message is that the world keeps going even after you die, but to the people that are left behind, they dont feel like living because the world doesn't seem as bright.
YOU NAILED IT. The life support songs touch my soul and I can't even explain why. If you know the musical "Godspell" it reminds me a lot of some of that music, especially, "On the Willows."
omg im so sorry for all these ppl who have had friends and family die similarly to this movie its heartbreaking to me to see all these comments on that. the song maks me cry for different sad reasons that have been in my life. ♥
I really fought hard not to cry while watching this, and i made it! and then collins sung the reprise of i'll cover you and i just couldn't stop...i LOVE rent.
I was similiar at first. I think the first time I saw any of the songs (haven't been able to see the movie all the way through, same with the play) I thought it was fun, and great. Then I started sifting through and watching more and more, and it's still fun and great, but it's also SAD and great. ^_^ Always cry during this song.
This is one thing that will give the movie over the stage production. The way they were able to have the people in the Life Support meetings fade away symbolising their death from AIDS is powerful.
In the stage version, Mark says "Close on Roger: His girlfriend April left a note saying 'We've got AIDS' before slitting her wrists in the bathroom." Chris Columbus left it out because he wanted there to be some mystery about how April died.
Roger tries so hard to steer Mimi away from heroin, but with Angel's death n Mimis past with Benny made it hard for Roger. Something had to give, at the time.
The name of the song is "Without You". There is one song called "Life Support". The other "life support scene" is called "Will I?". They just happen to show clips of a life support meeting during this song. :)
But this one matches better. Mimi is supposed to be 18-19 years old. The original Mimi sounds like she's 30 when she sings, this one sounds young, like the character.
Fuck this world man. Yes, I know we all die in the end. But slowly dying to a bitch ass disease is the worst. My heart goes out to the people who already past, the families that have been torn apart by it. And to those dealing with it till the end.
@@gemtail3125 There’s a deleted scene where Benny clarifies things with Roger saying that he and Mimi had a thing months before she got with Roger (whether it was before Benny got married is unclear)
“I don’t care.” - This seemingly innocent reaction hurt some people deep in their heart. I heard this once from someone I love and it gave me a big pain. Pls do not use this, especially to the one you love. - NYC, 3/1/2021
roger did what we do, wen ppl need our help, and they turn 2 us, the worst thing 2 say is "u cant do it 4 me, u hav 2 do it 4 u" but the onli reason they came 2 us is bcos they kno they cant do it 4 them, so the person they went 2 4 help is wha gives them inspiration. so we gotta help them.. i onli say this.. bcos i lost my brother.... 2... that stuff. and he told me he wanted 2 change 4 me. nd i never understood that he needed me til this. but.. its 2 L8. jus sayn, dnt take life 4 grantd
daphne rubin vega does have a raspy dronefull vioce, but she atleast sings this song with passion and feeling. Rosario is WAY to timid and soft with this song- its about losing someone u love but she dosnt make it sound that way.
Getting to story straight: April (Roger's ex) had AIDS but she commited Suicide, she left a note to Roger saying "WE HAVE AIDS" and they found her in the bathroom, she had slit all her wrists and died. Its not in the film because they thought it inapropiate to the story line, but it is in the original script
me too, at first i was like what the??? Because i was closed minded, just expecting another made to please the masses movie. But i does really have so much more to it. some say it's just Angst. But, it's not. It's a message.
I am kind of disturbed by the comments on this video. there are a bunch of people below who wrote comments such as. "I don't get it. Does Mimi have AIDS?" i'm am really disappointed in you, Rentheads.
It really makes me think about the price of freedom. It became more accepted in our society to be free with our bodies and not long after the 70s when that notion occurred, this happened. An epidemic swept through our nation. We need to stop doing 180s. You can be free with your body, but with freedom comes responsibility. Just because society says you can, doesn't mean you should. This shows us what can and did happen to many when that privilege spun out of control. It's heartbreaking. Not just the loss of the lives, but the fear of living with this disease, knowing your days are numbered and this disease could decide to take you at any moment. Freedom is not free.
really thats how u really feel without me I know I dont hardly see u at school at all and on weekends 2! I love u with all my heart I dont know what I would do without u u mean so much 2 me baby!!
OF COURSE! this is beginning to scare me, all of these commens saying "does roger have AIDS?" or "did you know that roger's girlfriend died?" seriously guys. come on, rentheads are supposed to be smart.
This is one of the saddest parts of the whole movie. I hate seeing Angel in the hospital dead....that made me cry.
I wanted to cry 😢
It's so sad
Love this film. Sad how everyone disappears one by one ❤️😢
We all disappear eventually

Full Moon Lover me to!!!! I'm dying inside I just don't speak
Same here.
this whole scene makes me cry, but nothing more than the part where collins is holding angel in the hospital bed after he has died
I will forever love the movie and the play just so well written honestly
Angel is the personification of good in this film. She is merely there to befriend&help all the other characters. I cry when she dies :(
I cry also when Angel passes away
I'm a man in my 50's and I love RENT.Saw it
3 times on Bway.

Ahsoka sings beautifully and this video killed me
All of those people dying just makes me so sad. And then Angel sniff sniff.
So seriously, this scene makes me shed tears...every time.
You are the one who fills that empty part in my stomach, you are the one that lightens my day, you are the one who warms my heart on a cold winter night, you are the one that makes a baby no longer cry. You are my lover, my friend, the other half of my heart. I love you Sadie, and i always will.
dammit i started tearin up at the end with tom holding angel!!
2016 and I still love this play/musical/movie. 😍😍
Mm same
2023, still here. Will never leave.
Whenever I watched this and the part of Angel getting sick I start bawling like crazy. I'm tearing up as we speak.
Same here. Once this song finishes in the movie, I am seriously bawling like a baby. *tears up*
2024 still watching! And crying!

didnt see this movie til the end of last year (2006) and now i watch it everytime i can. thanks for posting these!!
rosario dawson has an amazing voice.
and adam pascal does too!
This song hits me in the feel everytime I watch that scene, when members of the support group is just fading away...
One thing that I think the movie did right and makes this song and moment more powerful.
I think this part really shows...jus how painful life can b sometimes...b/w Mimi n Angel...i couldn't stop crying...
YOU NAILED IT. The life support songs touch my soul and I can't even explain why. If you know the musical "Godspell" it reminds me a lot of some of that music, especially, "On the Willows."
It sad song, I love this movie me and my little sister watched it together
I do too, not just from the pictures, but from the words of the song.
first time i cried during a movie... this scence. So sad and touching
omg im so sorry for all these ppl who have had friends and family die similarly to this movie its heartbreaking to me to see all these comments on that. the song maks me cry for different sad reasons that have been in my life. ♥

You're not alone...I also got tested after watching this movie...kind of gave me the strength to do it too..
I love this song.
I almost made it through the song with out crying... Then 4:24 happened and I gots some tears
My High School is doing Rent as our musical i cant wait. I really hope i get Angel, it's just gonna be beautiful
Well...did you get it?
I'm 15! and I've loved this movie for more than two years!!!
So, your thirty something now? Happy belated birthdays and congratulations on surving pandemic humanity so far.

i love this...and all the little short ones...especially will i
This is my fav song, whenever I hear it I think of my mom, who died of Schledermia nearly 2 years ago. She loved this play and this song espically.
OMG that is sooo sad when the people at life support are dissapearing!!! almost cried.
I cry so hard seeing Tom Collins holding the dying Angel at the hospital. I think about poo Freddie Mercury dying the same way.
i cry everytime i listen to it
Rosario Dawson did an excellent job in this film
vthis is my favorite movie......angel =[ i cried so much i needed a bucket ♥
This part is terribly sad lol. The first time I watched this movie, this song was the one that got me teary haha.
this has to be the saddest part of the whole thing. i cried for an hour after seeing this movie
This is one thing that will give the movie over the stage production. The way they were able to have the people in the Life Support meetings fade away symbolising their death from AIDS is powerful.
Oh my gosh, the end of this song makes me cry and the part on the subway with collins and Angel. =/ so sad. Angel was too awesome. ^^
When I first saw this scene I balled like a baby! Just seeing her shake like that got to me. I love this movie and song
Roger does walk in on one of the Life support sessions. He even sings along with.
this is the saddest song out of all the songs in this whole movie :(
i always cry when i hear this song
this song always get to me....i love this movie. it has such a powerful meaning...i cry everytime...why does Angel have to die...
I cry always with this one moment
the scenes with angel and collins really made me cry.. and it got worse, seeing as how the next song was when angel died.. i cried sooooo much!!!
i love Rent and this song but it makes me cry.
i have never cried from a movie and i cried from this scence

This song is so sad 😞
this song clashes violently with the sad mood in here
at like 4:26 i think, i always feel like crying but can never get any tears out! its frustrating! lol love this song!
yeah i cried when angel died....... and then i watched it over and over and over again (the movie)
Sadie (iwuvjames10), this is how i feel when im without you, Especially in middle school. Without you it feels as if im alone in the world.
Now I feel like an idiot sitting at my computer crying...omg
Angel, T_T
I think that the original Mimi was too old for this role... In "light my candle" Roger says that she looks like she's 16 xD
I think theatre people have beautiful souls.
But this one matches better. Mimi is supposed to be 18-19 years old. The original Mimi sounds like she's 30 when she sings, this one sounds young, like the character.
its reallyyyy sadd this is reality for alot of people out ther... =(
@paul21x depressed :( this movie makes me cry soooooooo bad :( it makes me think of my past life before my dad died
its so sad when angel dies
everyone kinda seems so lost without him
Her. Without her.
almost? me and my friend both burst into tears in the theatre when we saw it? especially when angel died.
Fuck this world man. Yes, I know we all die in the end. But slowly dying to a bitch ass disease is the worst. My heart goes out to the people who already past, the families that have been torn apart by it. And to those dealing with it till the end.
Im the only guy i know who actually likes this movie
wait how is she going out with benny, are they actually going out is he cheating on his wife?
Yep. It's implied in the script that he married her more for money (or some sort of business thing) than actually falling in love with her.

It was happening with or with them there. You lived before them and you can live without them again
The people fading away in the support group scenes was probably to get the audience ready. because if they had just thrown it on people......
A reminder of the many people lost to HIV/AIDS
GOD i love RENT

Northern1Lass it is hinted in "One song Glory" ^^
the end never fails to drive a knife right into my left ventricle :[
I just noticed roger is sitting at the support group with mimi.
T___T
i cried and cried when i saw Collin with Angel
It can be transferred through blood, too. Like using the same syringe as someone else to shoot drugs or something.
she is trying to rehab from drugs, so that she can be with Adam..it is such a lovely story and movie :]
I lose it ar 4:23
Gomexus Gold OH GOD ME TOO
im a guy and i love the movie :]..

this song is so sad
i do too!!!!
the end of this video is just so sad.
I have a question.
i thought i saw gordon die in this scene but then at angel's funeral you can see him behind joanne.
?
