Think back to "Captain America: The Winter Soldier". On the roof after Black Widow kicked Sitwell off the roof and Falcon caught him and dropped him back on the roof. They asked Sitwell about Zola's algorithm. He said it identified targets, Bruce Banner, Steven Strange.... Now you know who Steven Strange is. And at 5:16, someone tells Steven that they have a 35 year old Air Force Colonel with a crushed lower spine and Steven rejects that case saying "find something worth my time". That Air Force Colonel is James "Rhodey" Rhodes, (War Machine).
Believe it or not, you’ve heard Doctor Strange’s name before. When Jasper Sitwell is being questioned about what Zola had created for Project Insight back in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, he mentions people who could be threats to Hydra, ending with, “Bruce Banner, Stephen Strange…” I love Benedict’s portrayal of Strange, he’s a really powerful character. I also had to have hand surgery when this movie was out on blu ray (relatively minor compared to the character) and am an amateur sleight of hand magician. Also, if you pause the movie on his watch the day he gets in his car crash, you can see the date; February 2nd, Groundhog Day… which also happens to be my birthday, and fitting since he saves the world with a time loop. I feel quite the connection to this movie as a result. Glad you enjoyed it, he’ll be back.
Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1963 in Strange Tales #110. He`s basically the magic equivalent of Iron Man. A morally dubious character who is reluctantly forced to become a superhero after a tragic accident that robs him of the use of his hands just as Iron Man started out as a wealthy weapons developer and was forced to become a superhero after being critically injured by either Viet Cong or Afghani terrorists(It was retconned a while back and the MCU went with the retconned version from the `90s because it was more contemporaneous at the time) and having his heart replaced with a pacemaker.
I've seen this movie multiple times and just realized that the "35 year old Air Force colonel that crushed his lower spine" was referencing Rhodey after his crash in Civil War. 🤯
Someone probably already mentioned this: Right before Strange crashes his car, he is on the phone discussing possible patients he might want to work on. If you listen carefully, one of the patients they discuss is "Rhodey" and the paralysis he suffered in Captain America: Civil War.
My problem with this is that it really cuts short the amount of time he was learning sorcery and doesn't explain how Hydra knew about him in _Winter Soldier._ I always preferred the theory that it was the test pilot who got spun in half wearing the Hammer prototype in _Iron Man 2,_ but info from a later movie (spoiler avoidance) contradicts that possibility.

It stars: Kenneth Branagh (Director of Thor), Emma Thompson (Branagh's wife back then), Robin Williams (uncredited for some reason), Andy Garcia (Ocean's Eleven), Wayne Knight (Cheers), Derek Jacobi (Underworld:Evolution), and members of Branagh's Renaissance Theater Company . The impressive soundtrack was done by Patrick Doyle who did Planet of the Apes, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Thor, and a lot of Branagh-directed films.

Great reaction to a surreal movie! "Strange is a strange last name." Yeah, I went to high school with two brothers who had the last name of 'Bandit'. Weird names exist. 😀Also: they were not villains. Well, not in the two years I knew them. Previous Movie Crossover Moment: "I've got a 35 year old Air Force colonel, crushed his spine in some kind of experimental armor." Hey Rhodey. Dr. Strange finds you boring. Hope you recover anyway. Benedict Cumberbatch plays the arrogant jackass of Doctor Steven Strange so well. Like it is a second nature or something. 😲Let's hope not. The atmospheric surreality of this movie is so well done! Reminded me of the comics I read as a kid. And while I don't like Tilda Swinton as a person, she is an amazing actor. After that scene with Christine saving Steven in the hospital, and all the weirdness she saw in the process, she deserves a looooong vacation. Immediately. Or sooner. The city battle in the mirror dimension is stunning. Everything they do in the warping of the battlefield is just amazing. The visuals in this movie are extremely good. The final scene with the Ancient One is touching, as is the final scene between Steven and Christine in the hospital. And heartbreaking in ways. The twist of the looped time in the battle with Dorrmamu was great. And the cloak is awesome. 😀 I read the Doctor Strange comics when I was young, so I was waiting the entire time for Mordo to betray the Sorcerers and possibly kill the Ancient One, because he was always a villain in the comics. It was a nice twist to have him being a good(ish?) guy for most of the movie only to leave the sorcerers at the end and begin opposing them for reasons of doctrine.

You totally missed the Rhodey easter egg at the beginning, before Strange's car wreck the guy said he had a 35 yr old air force captain with a crushed spine.. that's from civil war Vision shot missed and when Rhodey Crashed ......
Hey Cristy! Dr. Strange, Spider-man, Avengers, Guardians, etc. are all in the same universe, just different parts of it. Comic nerd info: In the comic the Ancient One is a dude, Mordo is white, and Wong is Dr. Strange's manservant. I mention because people get upset at gender-swapping and race-changing of characters. But in this case, those changes were definitely needed, and made the story a lot less offensive to a contemporary audience.
The change to the Ancient One wasn't Disney being woke. If you offend the Chinese government you movie won't be released in China. Having a Tibetan character was a nonstarter. Further many were upset that Disney whitewashed an Asian character.
Ayahuasca is greatly overrated and a pain in the neck to take properly. Psilocybin is far easier to get, does the job very well, and only requires time and antacids to enjoy.

I'll be back for your next reaction. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy
I read the Doctor Strange comics when I was young, so I was waiting the entire time for Mordo to betray the Sorcerers and possibly kill the Ancient One, because he was always a villain in the comics. It was a nice twist to have him being a good(ish?) guy for most of the movie only to leave the sorcerers at the end and begin opposing them for reasons of doctrine.
Mordo, or as he's known in the comic book, Baron Mordo, was always a bad guy.
I might agree with you that Strange is an unusual surname except that I have a friend who bears it. ^_~
When is your next Marvel reaction. Can't wait!
Dr Strange starts out all by himself but he teams up with other heroes you know in films down the line. no spoilers, that's as far as I'm saying.
Ooohhh i LOVE a good team-up!
Even if Dr. Strange *was* a villain, casting Cumberbatch as Evil Strange would still make more sense than casting him as *Khan Noonian Singh*, ffs!
Love your wooooooowwwwww.....it's awesome.
There’s a wolf behind you!!!
no worries, i've domesticated him 😝
You also need to see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This is the second part of Doctor Strange.😊😊
I'm pumped for it!!
Did she call MORDO a HERO? I am waiting to see if they use him ever again.
Wong gets SO MUCH FUNNIER in later movies.
It kinda made me mad how they did him in the sequ3l
Sherlock Holmes the doctor is the House MD TV show.
Fun fact: Disney race and gender swapped the Ancient One. He is Tibetan in the comics and that would piss off China...
Wait so they switched so they wouldn’t piss off China or so they would? Bc fuck Disney if they did that to not make China angry
That's actually untrue. His origin was fictional.
@@scotthill1600 it's not just Disney, it's all studios. Unless it's an indie movie, almost all movies make concessions to China nowadays. TBH it's good business practice from the studios' perspective. China is one of the biggest markets in the world, and if you want your movie to be successful, you've got to be able to sell it to China.
@@carlgibson285 disappointing to say the least, good tho ig bc it’s just gonna show how bad their gov fucks them on a daily basis but I’m sure anything positive ab the US gets censored out
Good ups.
I love this channel
And it loves you right back, Michael!
You're officially my 2nd favorite Columbian... and 3rd favorite South American 🎉
Who’s your first favorite Colombian??
@@CristyReacts Shakira 😍😅
Lol... you pegged half the main cast as future villains, and the one guy to turn villainous you said "He looks like a hero!"
Not London.
New York City.

5:15 In case you missed it, and no one else mentioned it (TL/DR 92 comments), they are talking about Rhodie here, from the end of Civil War.
When they mentioned the 35 yearold sgt who needed spinal work done before dr stranges car accident they were talking about ironmans friend james rhodes warmachine from the civil war battle in germany airport
Incorrect for a lot of reasons. For one, Rhodey is a colonel not a Seargent. More importantly the timeline does not match.
More likely it's the guy testing Hammer's armor in Iron Man 2.
@@havok6280 your getting technical hes an army guy and why else would they mention that after having seen james rhodes fall and need back surgery it was a subtle hint to him its all in the timeline book that just came out i suppose you dont have that
@@havok6280 why would they talk about someone using hammer tech from ironman 2 when this is drstrange and weve just seen rhodes fall and have to re learn to walk in civil war ti elinesdont match up but its revealed in timeline book
@@Sean-bf3lh wrong again. Rhodes is in the Air Force, not the Army.
@@Sean-bf3lh do a web search for "Iron Man 2 easter egg Dr Strange".

If you like supernatural stuff in super hero settings just hold onto your hat for when you learn about Seance Dog.
You will see in the future what happend 😏
😅
Ola Cristy! Did you watch all of the Marvel content before the MCU? Like Spider-Man, X-Men, Daredevil etc?
Just wondering because it all becomes relevant. Adios :)
Nooo I haven't watched any superhero stuff outside MCU. Although I did watch and react to the most recent Batman (with Pattison) but didn't post it because it was my first reaction so it was severely lacking lol
@@CristyReacts Entiendo. Well you just keep being happy and I will click on the thumbs up. :)

You totally missed the Rhodey easter egg at the beginning, before Strange's car wreck the guy said he had a 35 yr old air force captain with a crushed spine.. that's from civil war Vision shot missed and when Rhodey Crashed ......
I heard it was Justin Hammer’s test pilot from the failed suit copy attempt in iron man 2, not Rhodey.
Hey Cristy!
Oh interestiiiiing! I'm kinda glad they make those adjustments in order to stay un-cancelled haha
The change to the Ancient One wasn't Disney being woke. If you offend the Chinese government you movie won't be released in China. Having a Tibetan character was a nonstarter.
Further many were upset that Disney whitewashed an Asian character.
Who are you if I'm not new here 😜
your friend!
@@CristyReacts Cheers😊
Ayahuasca is greatly overrated and a pain in the neck to take properly. Psilocybin is far easier to get, does the job very well, and only requires time and antacids to enjoy.
Psilocybin is in mushrooms, right? I'm not sure they produce the same effects. I'd like something more... spiritual. idunno
@@CristyReacts That's correct, they give a mild body high, strong visual fun, and a huge boost in "I like/love this" feelings. For "spiritual" DMT is supposed to be good, but I didn't get that, just lots of analytical stuff going through my head.
It's very likely that you'll enjoy the hell out of them and get the perspective shift you'd want.
