Great recipe. Before browning the meat I sautéed onions and garlic for a couple of minutes, added the meat until it was cooked, then added a bunch of tomatoes and chopped fresh parsley. It was delicious!

My boyfriend and I could not believe how much better this was compared to how we made it before! I was forever adding extra water or taco sauce to try to keep the meat moist - all because I cooked it uncovered the whole time. Using the lid makes ALL the difference! And your homemade seasoning is perfect. Thank you! 👍😍💕

Simple and easy recipe I absolutely love it! Tried this recipe today and my boyfriend and I love it! I wanted to learn how to make taco seasoning without using store bought taco seasoning and this recipe is amazing. For us the seasonings and measurements were perfect the only thing I changed is that I used tomato sauce instead of water. I felt like water would wear down the flavor a little bit so I used tomato sauce to keep the flavor and maybe enhance it a little bit more. My boyfriend and I are all about having alot of flavor. This recipe was delicious and tasted like it was homemade and not store bought. This is going to be my new taco seasoning recipe. Thank you for sharing!

I made this tonight and it was a HIT with my husband and I! I've been trying for two years to recreate my mom's taco seasoning and was going to adjust yours to make it like hers, but the base seasoning just turned out so good that I think this may be a permanent staple!
P.s. I used a bit more garlic powder and made it in cast iron. Was so good!

I'm going to try this recipe tomorrow! The boullion cubes I bought seem about half the size of yours. I think I'll use two.
Update: After trying it, it was probably the best tacos I've ever eaten. I saw some mistakes I made though (I'm a novice cook), so I think my next batch will be a lot better.
What I liked about the recipe is that the tacos were not spicy, so I could serve these at my house if my guests don't like spicy. I think for me and my folks, I may consider adding a small bit of cayenne to make them spicier. For the first time though, I just used Louisiana hot sauce after assembly.

This is a great spice mix fot these kind of tacos. I used this dry mix and for my wet ingredients i added a a splash of soy sauce, jugo maggie, mustard, cocktail sauce or ketchup. Also sautee half an onion, and finished it off with a little cilantro. Also made crumbled extra firm tofu same way for the vegetarian in our family. Thanks so much it was so delicious, i think im going to mason jar this mix just to keep it handy.

This is a very good base for taco seasoning. I do it a little differently. Seasoning blend exactly the same but I like to add a 1/4 teaspoon cayenne. Also since I can't bring myself to pay the price of that expensive ground beef I use the cheap stuff and always separate it over a pound because let's face it a pound isn't enough for a family. I finely chop 1/4 to 1/2 an onion and one jalapeno. I also mince 3 to 4 cloves of garlic. I rough chop a hand full of cilantro and 1 Romo tomatoe. I cook it almost the same but as soon as my cheap beef starts to produce grease I throw in the onion and jalapeno and sauté. Once the onion gets translucent I throw in the garlic and tomato for a minute or two. Instead of draining the fat I add the seasoning blend and sprinkle flour until the fat is gone and you get a rue like mixture. You want to stir and mix for a minute or so just like making a gravy. Because of this you need to add more water. About a cup or a little more. I bring to a simmer but don't cover. Once half the liquid is gone and because I'm inpatient I sprinkle a little corn starch to thicken quicker but it's really not necessary. Once it's thickened like an asada gravy I turn the heat off and throw in my cilantro and mix until it's wilted and combined evenly. I absolutely hate hard taco shells that break no matter what you do so I butter one side of a flour tortilla and throw it on the hot iron. Lightly brown that side and flip. Put your beef mixture on and top with your choice of shredded cheese. Fold in half and grill like a birria taco. That's how dad makes the best damn tacos around. This isn't for the beginner cook and if you don't like heat don't add the jalapeno or cayenne. If you can't make gravy from scratch I would just follow her directions. 😅

I do mine similarly. I ses the same seasonings, for the most part, but I usually blend my own chili powder, combining some ancho, pasilla and guajillos, and sometimes chipotle. I also add cayenne, and >Mexican oregano< to the spice blend. I also add 1-2 tsp of cornstarch, and dissolve the bouillon in the water. The bit of cornstarch binds everything together nicely and gives the meat a real heartiness. Love your videos!

The seasoning could marry together if you just seasoned before cooking

Thanks for this recipe. I used the Morning Star Farms Veggie Grillers Crumbles instead of beef. It was great.
