I love and agree about what you said about Aretha after the reaction. Aretha was DEF the OG singy pop diva. Singy when it comes to runs, riffs, and imo emotional singing. She would let loose in a way that I think she never did in her personal life so it came out when she sang. Her singing was so vulnerable, raw, and authentic. She really paved the way ❤
Smokey Robinson said when he Met Aretha Franklin Big Brother he said they became best friends, and he said one day He went to his House and we was hearing some Music and it was Aretha Franklin at 5 years old singing and playing the Piano by ear......So Blessed. RIP
I saw Aretha in an interview when she was older than here. She told the commentator she rarely uses all of her voice just a little bit. She said just enough to give the people what they need. He asked her why she said so she can save some. You will notice throughout her career most of her singing appears effortless. She rerely rarely gave all she had. Wow!!
Sarah Vaughan said to Etta James: "Have you heard of this Aretha girl?" Etta responded: "You heard her do Skylark didn't you?" Sarah Vaughan: "Yes and I'm never singing that song again." And that Dinah Washington moment really makes you think about Patti's Ain't No Way Tribute 😂
Ms Etta James is recorded saying about Ms Franklin saying about her recording of Skylark, how did that B hit that note,I concur that she was the first of her kind, there was no one like her 👑👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
To give you an idea of her power. In the mid seventies my family moved to San Francisco. She had a concert and cancelled. The crowd rioted and tore up that whole club. Patti Hearst getting kidnapped was the other lead story on the news.
I just wanted to say as a lifelong fan of Auntie Re I was VERY disappointed in the movie. That part mentioned with Dinah flipping out about her cover did not happen. At least not between those two. I read in the making of the movie that scene occurred between Etta James and another female singer who didn’t really make it. They added that part in for drama… effect 😒 Dinah was a close family friend of the Franklins who frequented their home when Re was growing up and they had a completely different relationship than what was portrayed.
Unmatched in every vocal department.
ARETHA CAN SING ANYTHING!!!!😍

@@samukelophoku as far as I know I don't think there's a video of that conversation or at least I've never seen it.
