கேரள மாநிலத்தின் எல்லையில் காணப்படும் மேற்குத் தொடர்ச்சி மலைத்தொடர்களின் ஒரு சிறிய குன்றில், இந்தக் கோவில் அமைந்துள்ளது.
இக்கோயிலில் மூலவராக முருகன் உள்ளார். மூலவரை திருமலைக் குமாரசாமி என்றும், குமாரசாமி என்றும் அழைக்கின்றனர்.
