- It's not quite "Over and Out" just yet for Jeff Lynne as he has one final tour left in him and hopefully some more music to come. Lynne, the maestro behind Electric Light Orchestra, took a nostalgic trip down memory lane with his cover of the Everly Brothers classic "So Sad." This track, featured on his 2012 solo album "Long Wave," is a tender rendition that pays homage to the harmonious heartache of the original. Lynne's version wraps the sorrowful lyrics in his signature lush production, creating a bittersweet soundscape that resonates with the longing of the past. Lynne's cover also showcases his exceptional voice, and his unique additions (the "naughty bits" as he likes to call them) add to the production in my view.
In 1960, The Everly Brothers released the song as a single and on the album "It's Everly Time." The song was a top 10 hit in multiple countries, and spent 12 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at No. 7. Lynne's rendition offers a fresh take while maintaining the emotional depth of the original. His version is a testament to the timeless nature of the song and showcases his ability to bring a new dimension to classic hits.

I started playing guitar in 1978 at age 13. My friends thought this was dull, cheesy music. I knew better. It's great to see musicians like Jeff love the same music like I did when I was a kid. He should know.

I can't even begin to try and explain just how much pleasure Jeff Lynne has given me with his beautiful music ever since I first heard Livin' Thing, the first record I ever bought. He is the most under-rated musician of all time, but us Jeff Lynne and ELO fans appreciate his genius and that's all that matters.
This magical and wonderful music accompanied me throughout life until today. I believe Jeff is a really great person too - he has definitely George Harrison, Tom, Roy and Bob their best time of life bestowed. I never saw their faces so happy like in time with `The Traveling Wilburys `- he is beyond great.

Many thanks for this very nice upload. Also for the video. At 1:46, memories of my home town come flooding back. The "Olympiahalle München", the Olympic Hall in Munich, oh how wonderful that time was.
I will never forget my unexpected run-in with Jeff. It was in Arabellapark in Munich. The Musicland Studios were in the basement of the Arabellapark Hotel. It was one of the first very warm spring days in May 1981. I was twelve years old and had just come back from the dentist. There was an ice cream parlour in Arabellapark. I ordered my ice cream and got it. I didn't realise that someone was standing behind me. I turned to leave, as boys do at that age without thinking or looking closely, and bumped into someone. My ice-cream scoops fell to the floor. All I had left was the ice cream cone in my hand. I looked up and there it was. The unmistakable glasses of Jeff Lynne. I will never forget. I was so stunned I couldn't get a single word out. He patted me on my head and said something I didn't quite understand, but it was something like wait. Then Jeff ordered the same ice cream again and gave it to me. I was so taken aback that I stuttered out a German "Danke" and after a few more seconds followed it up with a "Thank you". He smiled and nodded. It wasn't until two years later, when I held the album Time in my hands and looked at the photos at the inner sleeve of the cover, that I realised what had really happened.

I listen to this song almost every day by the Everly Brothers,one of my favorite songs ever.Didnt think anyone else could sing it like them,after hearing Jeff, I've changed my mind.That was absolutely beautiful, I was on the brink of tears as usual.That man is an incredible genius, love it ❤️❤️❤️
