The whole presentation of this act has got to be my favourite. The crumpling of the deck, "We haven't got much time", throwing away the suit. What an incredibly engaging performance.
That particular moment is the only one I liked about the act, to be honest! I'm not a great fan of "mentalists" or "prediction magic", and although the dressing was different, the bird stays the same. "I put a prediction here earlier, you didn't get forced, how could I possibly have known what you were going to say?!"... Chicken always tastes like chicken, and I like beefier stuff!
One of the things I love about this show is that the entertainment factor is not in the fooling, but the performances themselves. I've seen plenty of tricks that were rather boring or flat even though I don't know how they were done. This is one of my favorite performances though, despite not fooling them or me. I wanted to give a thumbs up just like Teller.
This is such a phenomenally good premise! You could literally make a whole 2h show out of this, and you'd have an audience who'd literally never get bored.
These kind of acts never fool P&T unless it's on a technicality. That being said, they're nearly always entertaining, since the performer has a lot of room for creativity. This one was great; having the twist sitting in plain sight is always a crowd pleaser.
yah these guys are in the magic control department. Anyone who knows real magic would all agree on this. They occasionally have on real magicians just in order to put them down. The real ones know the game so they play along.
Loved the act -- I've seen enough of P&T that I'm learning the thought process of how some tricks may be done, but the whole act and presentation is amazing. Not complicated, great effect, fun act.
@@stevem.o.1185 hmm im not sure if its multiple outs or one out...basically his board already said "miss by 21" so literally you can pick any number...lets say you pick 40...so when you pick 40 he will use his thumb to either write 61...or 19 on his notepad...because they are both off by 21...thats the thumbs up they were talking about...its a simple match trick ...and i used to be ok with math so thats the only reason i figured it out haha so if you can help me out now...is that considered multiple outs or?
@@Red4350 I'm actually not sure in this case, and I'm not a magician. Or very good math for that matter. What happens if she picks 39? If it's a different trick then, then that is certainly multiple outs.
@@stevem.o.1185 yeah i guess it is multiple outs...basically you're just adding or subtracting 21 to any number they pick because its "off by 21" your example if she picks 39 he goes off by 21 to either 60 or 18...because 39+21 is 60 or 39-21 is 18...he just has his thumb behind where you can't see it and writes it before he shows it
I like this guy.. A lot round earthers go flat but no flat earthers ever go back to round.. Ever.. Thank Andy for that beautiful joke about " you mean the people that think the earth is round."
Did you know that Dan Aykroyd, who played Ray, is extremely into aliens, UFOs, ghosts etc? He's been in UFO documentaries. Hell, he even has a vodka he sells that is packaged in a crystal skull. Ray is based on his actual beliefs.
I'm always amazed how well these magicians do their magic while their hands are shaking. I'd be dropping stuff all over the floor and they are pulling off amazing feats!
The method used is a classic that many non-magicians know about. I think there wasn't an attempt to fool but it was a trick that fit the premise perfectly
The trick with the number is really easy . He doesn’t write anything until she says “3” Then he can write the number using slight of hand (notice 24 is written to the side of the paper and very sloppy) because he wrote it down after the fact and all he has to do is add 21 It’s a great trick though Very fun and great showmanship
Is it me or are these most recent acts some of the best, like this one? I keep seeing things that are so unique. Great job overall. That was a lot of fun to watch!
I mean I admire the balls of going on stage in front of Penn and Teller with a trick that's found in magic for beginners books. He could at least have put the prediction in an envelope or something first.
There are many ways to force cards, or to make things appear and disappear. But at some point fans of magic have seen them all. However, there is no limit too the number of ways you can present these illusions, and you have found a way that is SO entertaining!
Normally I don't commend down here, but this is one of the best routines I've seen so far, and I've watched plenty. The guessing trick is classic, but it doesn't matter because the performance was superb. Genuinely enjoyed the whole act.
I gotta agree 100% … why on earth a magician would choose a basic trick you can buy at any magic shop when he gets invited to perform on FU ???! 🤔🤷🏻♂️
My guess is that the outcome was controlled, rather than the guess, and someone is a very fast writer. Even if the trick is a bit obvious, it is hidden VERY well underneath a fun story and hilarious delivery.
I know this is nitpicking, but technically a number BETWEEN 3 and 86 should exclude 3 and 86. Or at least that's what *THEY* want me to think. Hm... ;-) Great show!
The trick was great, but needed one final thing: two "Men In Black" types needed to rush out onto the stage at the end and put some gaffer tape over Andy's mouth, then drag him off the stage...
I think this performance has made me realise a couple of things, I'm no longer a kid anymore and so I couldn't relate to the first half; And also, I kinda knew what was happening, even before Penn's "thumbs up" code. This might have been a lot more fun, for me, if he first half was written more for adults, and the second half with some less guessable method :(
The whole presentation of this act has got to be my favourite. The crumpling of the deck, "We haven't got much time", throwing away the suit. What an incredibly engaging performance.
Agreed.
Side note: I really love the comments section on these videos because the people watching seem to be knowledgeable amateurs and pros.

I agree, I don’t know many magic tricks, but I can pick up on some things, so while I was not fooled here, I definitely loved what I saw
A prime example of the difference between a magic trick, and a magic act. Great performance.
Wow. For someone who has watched a lot of FU, this is different in all the right ways. Great performance Andy!
This is such a phenomenally good premise! You could literally make a whole 2h show out of this, and you'd have an audience who'd literally never get bored.
They should have an award in each episode for the most entertaining non-fooling act
That's a great idea!
They don't but we can have one as an audience - it's all good!
Penn with the "we are the illuminati". "That's just a joke" way of delivery really makes one wonder... lol
That's what i was thinking
We need more magicians like you. Heart-warming, charming, and very, very clever.

yes let me give you a "thumbs up" for that comment..hehe
@@ModItBetter Yes 😂 Even I know how this one's done 🤣
Even *I* figured this one out.
The Act was amazing and funny from start to finish. The prediction - you really nailed it!!!
Oooh nailed it.. very clever! 🤔👏👏👏
It's first time I saw Teller to sneak in the code
This was the first one I caught on the first play, wasn't as clean as he probably usually is. Still a great performer, which sells the act.
You got a thumbs up from me lol
That was a really delightful trick. I love when the magicians don't jsut do a trick, but put on a performance and an act.
Nice premise. Never heard of conspracy magic before.
Andy Deemer makes you feel right at home. 🎵
Mental math, dexterity, and lots of showmanship. Good stuff.

I loved the presentation of this trick!
Loved the nice guy facade character, then the dramatic switch.

Weird, eccentric, kooky….I love it!
now I'm hungry. The power of suggestion.
I've been so waiting for the F U joke for years xD
Why did you think they put a big red F and U on the trophy. haha.
I loved the presentation of your trick, some good humour there too. Congratulations on your work.
He reminds me of Ray from the 'original' ghostbusters who is totally passionate about ghosts.

The shaking is covering up for a key part of the trick...

Simple trick but a brilliant performance. Love to see him on FU again
This is my new favorite magician haha. Love the truth in plain sight approach.
The mind reading tricks never fool penn & teller clearly they’re all done in a similar way 😂

How did he do that "you missed by 21", the logos was there the whole time
@@enistocilla9383 he wrote the number 24 after she said 3. The “thumb” code word was referring to the tiny writing implement stuck to his thumb
