What else can you say about Stevie, other than he is a musical genius. He was signed to Motown at 11 years of age and was writing songs at age 13 for artists like Aretha Franklin. In a Motown documentary it was said he carefully studied every musician in the house band, the Funk Brothers, until he learned how to play nearly every instrument. He is a national treasure. Thanks so much for continuing to delve into Stevie. 👏👏🥰🇨🇦

I mean.... it just doesn't get any better than Stevie Wonder. He plays the he** out of the harmonica and the piano. I really loved how you said he was or his voice was bright light the sunshine, I couldn't agree more. His voice is very captivating and emotive.
Some more Stevie Wonder songs worth listening to: "Living For The City" "All I Do" "That Girl" "Do I Do" "Isn't She Lovely" (Stevie wrote this song after the birth of his daughter) "As" "Ribbon In The Sky" (one of the most beautiful songs ever written/composed) "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing" "Joy (Takes Over Me)" "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life" "I Love Every Little Thing About You" "Too High" "Higher Ground" "Pastime Paradise" | I could go on and on, and on. Stevie's Got a LOT of great, memorable songs! He's a genius! ;)
You could do an entire month on Stevie. His early to mid-1970s period was as impressive as any musician ever. He was soaring creatively. I recommend Golden Lady. Perhaps you’ve done his masterpiece Sir Duke?
Don't sleep on Stevie's formidable harmonica skills--although he doesn't display that here. He plays harmonica on many of his songs as well as on other artist's recordings. Very intriguing, legendary singer-songwriter-musician.
Nope... Fingertips was and number 1. Wonder's single "Fingertips" was a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963, at the age of 13, making him the youngest solo artist ever to top that chart. Also, many more before hits before “My Cherie Amour”.
I met Stevie at the Billboard Awards and he was so kind. He was sweet enough to give me an autograph, it's by far one of my most treasured. Stevie was my first concert I was around 7 yrs. old at the Apollo Theater. The Temptations opened. He is truly one of a kind. A genius.
I remember more about our car getting a flat tire in the Midtown Tunnel than the show when I was a kid. Luckily I got to see him as an adult. He is the best! 💞@@minxiv7
The gorgeous background vocals were performed by the co-writer of this song and Stevie’s ex-wife Syreeta Wright. She also worked with Billy Preston. Listen to their song, “With You I’m Born Again” to hear more of her beautiful voice.
One of Stevie's best. He released his first hit at around 12 years old! Check out the song, "Fingertips, Part 2." The song was released when he was then known as, Little Stevie Wonder. A true work of genius! ✌️👍🌟
I was looking for someone to mention the fact he was referred as ‘Little Stevie Wonder’… It’s as if very few people remember or even knew it… We knew him as Little Stevie Wonder before he grew up.

Stevie Wonder is so named because he is a musical genius, piano, drums, harmonica, etc, not to mention his voice. He has this amazing range and rhythm and he can go from rock to soul and everything in between. If you haven’t yet reacted to Overjoyed, check it out. His voice just rolls smoothly from note to note effortlessly with such grace and style like you are being caressed by his voice. It’s one of my faves of his repertoire

You can't go wrong with Stevie Wonder. It's impossible. You should listen to 'As' and 'Another Star' from his 'Songs in the Key of Life' album. Terrific stuff!
The woman singing backup, Syreeta Wright, was at one time his wife! I think she's the mother of his daughter Ayesha, who is the subject of "Isn't She Lovely?"! He also produced a solo album for her that has been largely forgotten, but has more amazing music to hear!!
This song was released in July 1971, and this then 12 year old boy was bopping to this song all summer long. Finished in the Top 10 on the Billboard Charts. On NYC’s 77WABC Radio Top 100 list for the year 1971, this song was rated at #99.
Stevie, great writer, musician, and for me most of all, great vocalist. Stevie Wonder has vocally mesmerized & influenced generations of would be singers like few have done. I'm not sure, but it seems like being blind increased his level of soulfulness & musical insight. To me, although Stevie is primarily looked upon as an "R&B" artist, he's not your (average run-of-mill) R&B artist, because if you listen to enough of his music, he seems to always take an R&B idea an give it an "unusual" twist as if to (Stevie Wonderize) it, or as I have often said, perform R&B but approach like a "Jazz" musician with some "outside" chord or a unique vocal flip etc... That's how I view the genius of the gift of Stevie Wonder......Anyway, Good reaction!
Thanks guys for getting back to Stevie Wonder. I truly enjoyed this song and reaction. Here's a few more suggestions Hey Love (1966) For Once In My Life (1968) Yester Me Yester You Yesterday (1969) You Are The Sunshine Of My Life (1972 Golden Lady (1973) Higher Ground (1973) Boogie On Reggae Woman (1974) You Haven't Done Nothing (1974 Pastime Paradise (1976) Ribbon In The Sky(1982) Overjoyed (1985) You Will Know (1987) Thanks again Jay and Amber 😊
A really sweet Stevie song is "Ribbon In The Sky." It was the bride and groom's first dance at a wedding i went to, and it was perfect. It'll be right up Amber's musical alley!
Great song by the great Stevie Wonder. He was only 12 when he cut a record with Motown in Detroit Michigan. We lived about 50 miles north from Detroit. The music coming from there was hit after hit in the early 60’s.👍👏👏🎼🎵🎶💜💜
A musical national treasure! The incomparable Stevie Wonder. So many great songs. Living for the City, Ribbon in the Sky, Superstition, I Wish, Some Day at Christmas, Isn’t She Lovely…. Just to name a very few To checkout.
My blind cousin went to the Michigan School for the Blind in Lansing MI, my hometown, WITH Stevie Wonder, and I never knew until decades later!! Always loved this record because it was jazzy. Jazz chords, a complete stop in Tempo, NO ONE was doing this on pop records at the time. Because it was Stevie, he got away with it when everyone was using 3 or 4 chords, same tempo all the way through their songs.
He's my favourite solo artist. I'm very lucky to have seen him in concert 3 times over the years, and he's just so talented. In terms of the stories you mentioned, Stevie has a great sense of humour - he used to pretend to fall over and people would come rushing to help him get up, assuming he was totally vulnerable being blind, but instead he would be laughing on the floor lol. If you like this one, I think you would love his song All I Do.
I must mention the female voice you hear on harmonies here. The great Deniece Williams who started with Stevie's Wonderlove band and went on to have a wonderful career of her own. Check out her whole debut album "Niecy" produced by Earth Wind & Fire's Maurice White. The whole album is outstanding.
Very interesting time in Stevie's career. This was right before he started releasing a bunch of classic 70's records. He was on the verge of manhood and the music reflected that. So much soul and creativity.
You’re right. I’ve seen Stevie at two different times in my life. The first time, I was in my late teens-early 20’s, the second time I was married and in my 40’s. Both times were excellent!
His rabbit hole ..... woooo chiiiiile!!! Ordinary Pain, Superwoman, You and I, Overjoyed, Creppin', You Haven't Done Nothing, Boogie On Regaee Woman, Part Time Lover, Isn't She Lovely ....
If You Really Love Me is one of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs. My fond memories of seeing him in concert, I saw Stevie peform twice, first in Oakland Coliseum CA. Stevie broke the news to us Lennon was shot that night and second time at Paso Robles. Stevie was two hours late and we entertained ourselves by doing the wave for 2 hours until he arrived.
A beautiful song with pretty lyrics and Stevie Wonder being a crooner, "Overjoyed", is another good one for you to react to. This one is Donny Osmond's favorite Stevie Wonder song.
I’m a boomer so I can’t even guess at the number of times I’ve heard this song and it always makes me smile just like you said Jay. And Amber, yes, Stevie is a burst of sunshine. So much fun to see you two enjoying this for the first time. Stevie has plenty more where this came from. Keep going - he’ll never disappoint you.
Love this song! One of my favorites. There are almost too many great Stevie Wonder songs to recommend, but here are some you will enjoy: Boogie on Reggae Women Living for the City My Cherie Amour Isn’t She Lovely As All I Do Don’t You Worry About a Thing You Are the Sunshine of My Life Ribbon in the Sky I Was Made to Love Her
When l was a young kid growing up in L.A. in the 60s, Two Motown artists that really spoke to me were Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gay, both sang about raw emotions and feelings. My favorite song by Stevie was Yester Me Yester You Yesterday, and Marvins was a duet he did called If I Could Build my Whole World Around You. Cherished memories man!
It was nice to see you both respond to the key change at 4:55, when it shifts up a half-step from F to F#. This always gives a feeling of "lift" to a song, and Stevie used it in some of his best songs, e.g., "For Once in My Life," ""My Cherie Amour," "You Are the Sunshine of My Life," etc. It's an arranger's trick that can sound hokey but Stevie always does it so subtly that you're not aware it's happening, but are swept up in the feeling, and buoyed aloft.
Jay & Amber, you will love his "My Cherie Amour", "Boogie On Reggae Woman" and "For Once In My Life" !!!! Great choice on this one!! edit - co-written by his first wife Syreeta Wright! She is on those great backing vocals as well!!
My current Stevie tunes have been. Superwoman Where Were You When I Needed You, Golden Lady, Creeping, Jesus Children ( highly recommended) . God I could go on for hours with Stevie.
I love the emotion that Stevie a wonder sings with and he projects that onto the listener! He can make you feel and believe what he is singing about and it’s such a feel-good tone he puts out into all of his songs!!
Stevie Wonder is genius. How is it my favorite Stevie Wonder song has still escaped your ears? 'Stevie Wonder - I Was Made To Love Her'. (1967). Treat your ears! Cheers.
This is from 1971. there are so many songs to choose from if you are wondering what he sounded like at age 13 listen to his number one hit Fingertips Part two. my favorite from him is You are the sunshine of my life any song from Stevie Wonder will be well worth it keep up the great work guys.
Stevie Wonder is a musical genius. His library of songs are tremendous. I seen a video of him accepting his Rock n Roll Hall of Fame induction and taking off his sunglasses giving a tremendous speech. You should see it.
Stevie Wonder. Enough said. Like Prince, songwriter, vocalist, mentor, plays multiple instruments. Like Prince I enjoy everything he's done. Sinatra - That's Life. Steely Dan - Peg, Black Cow, Babylon Sisters, Aja, Only a Fool Would Say That, Kid Charlemagne, Hey Nineteen.
Very underrated song from Stevie Wonder with Syreeta Wright doing background vocals. I like how the song kept switching tones. This song is from his 1971 album where I'm coming from, which is the album right before the start of his five album classic period. I hate to sound redundant but Stevie Wonder is a musical genius. With songs like you and I, You Got It Bad Girl, Golden Lady, sunshine in their eyes, Superwoman / where were you when I needed you, birds of beauty, it ain't no use, Isn't She Lovely and so much more, y'all just beginning to scratch the surface with Stevie.
The early days at Motown, it was so much creativity coming out that little studio, just imagine Smokey Robinson Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, man it's mind blowing Holland Dozier Holand another that's so underrated not talked about Norman Whitfield, his o ly rival at Motown far as writing and arranging Google Norman Whitfield and Barett Strong, I visited the Motown museum three times its so educational gives u insite to all the great artists I recommend it any Motown music buff such as myself, people come from all over the world to visit it England, Holland, I'm a life long Detroiter I highly recommend it
Thanks, guys.. Stevie is a musical genius! (and a generous performer.. allowing everyone to shine) I appreciate your reaction and always look forward to more!
You can't go wrong with Stevie. He has you grooving from start to finish. Check out Isn't she lovely, As, Ribbon in the sky, My Cherie amour, I wish, so many great songs by him!
Stevie Wonder is the one artist I’d step over my own mother to see. There’s nothing but love and pure talent in his catalogue and that catalogue is DEEP! Y’all need to do “Boggie On Reggae Woman” by Stevie Wonder. That’s got Jay written all over it ❤
Stevie Wonder is my all time favorite male artist. Songs in the Key of life one of the greatest albums ever ( Sir Duke }. The one song that has had the most meaning for me is "you will know" .
Stevie Wonder is a treasure. Put him right up there with whatever artist you can name. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a song where he didn’t put his full heart and soul into.
True story. This song was playing the first time my husband of 47 years told me he loved me. 16 and 17 year olds. Certain songs bring back wonderful memories. 🥰
Stevie Wonder's most impressive song to me is For Once In My Life. From 1968. He recorded it when he was 17. It was released when he was 18. You have to hear how good he was already at that age in so many ways.
Fantastic. There are still other songs to react to: "Don't you worry about a thing", "Master Blaster", "Isn't she lovely", "Higher ground" and also the duet with Ariana Grande in "Faith"
Stevie is a legend. I am old enough to have grown up in the 70’s when the music was amazing.
I love 70's statement❤.
This is still a younger Stevie. You have so much more Stevie to experience.
Stevie....Man, I love that man. His music is part of the fabric of my life for over 50 years. He does not do a bad song...they all good

This is one of my top 5 favorites from Stevie Wonder songs! A great classic! And you two got so far to go down this rabbit hole of an amazing catalog.
It really is. I thought this would get the most views of all the songs this evening. Surprised by the low view count.
Stevie Wonder is genius. How is it my favorite Stevie Wonder song has still escaped your ears? 'Stevie Wonder - I Was Made To Love Her'. (1967). Treat your ears! Cheers.
Yes!! I can’t get enough of that song.
Michael Jackson & Stevie Wonder - Just good friends

You should also check out 'A Place in the Sun', 'Travelin Man', and 'Yesterme Yesteryou Yesterday from his early Motown years.
One of my very favorites by the greatest R&B/R&R songwriter of our era. Try "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing" next for more great up tempo Stevie.
This 1971 hit is one of my favorites. Reminds me of simpler times in my senior year and graduation.
Living for the City is a must to hit.
Stevie has so many great songs and this is just one of them. He really is quite remarkable.
Fantastic. There are still other songs to react to: "Don't you worry about a thing", "Master Blaster", "Isn't she lovely", "Higher ground" and also the duet with Ariana Grande in "Faith"
❤ You both make me smile! Watching your reactions to both music and movies is heart warming and an absolute delight..❤❤❤❤❤
that's one of his most unique songs with the change in tempo and the prominent female vocal.
