I remember when BAD came out with this album, I was working in an office by myself. I would blast their songs on the radio KROQ. OMG! how time flies. That was back in the 80's, Now retired and enjoying life in 2023. When I was in my 20's my friends and I would hit the clubs in Hollywood. Best times of my life. So sad now some of them are gone, but I am sure they are in Heaven!!!

I love this album... I was in high-school and I associate this song with the first time I heard it... heading off-campus to the 7/11 for lunch w/ friends. Drugs, arrogance, betrayals, jealousy and insecurity have destroyed those relationships... so it's a bittersweet nostalgia for me.
However, listening to the Micheal Cohen testimony this morning... I heard the line in the back of my mind, "get three coffins ready..." And had to play this as soundtrack to the ugliness just now being dragged into the hard light of the official record.

    Covered wagon, Medicine Show
Take you to a place where the healing flows, oh-ho
Weak in spirit we got the juice
Won't save your soul it'll shine your shoes, oh
    Treated king to kangaroo
    Santa Fe to Timbuktu, oh-ho
    Don't be fooled by imitation
This is the stuff that cured a nation
We took the tube and the high plains too
Never stopped long just passing through
A drop of the laughter of the maids of France
Makes a hopeless cripple dance, oh
    It was really vile weather
When we got tarred and feathered
You could hear the six-guns sound
As they chased us out of town
    Whoa-ho...
In India we're all the rave
Discovered that it's great as aftershave, oh-ho
Dropped in the sea just off Japan
Swapped twenty bottles for an aqua-walkman, oh
    Immunity from ridicule
Improves your brains if you're a fool, oh-ho
And I read in the Middle East
Traded some for a hostage release
Now if you're bald it'll give you hair
If you've got straight trousers it'll give you flares
    Feeling up you'll get depressed
Out of style here's a brand new dress, oh
    It was really vile weather
When we got tarred and feathered
You could hear the six-guns sound
As they chased us out of town
Who the hell is that? One bastard goes in, another one comes out!
    Turn him around! Turn around!
    Turn him around! Turn around!
    (Laughing)
    I'm innocent of anything!
You making some kind of joke?
    Oh, no.
    (Laughing)
    I don't think it's nice, you laughing.
The stuff we sell is just the best
    Passing all consumer tests, oh-ho
Days of heaven, nights of sin
    Voodoo stick and shark's fin
When all around you seems like hell
Just one sip will make you well, oh-ho
    Multi-purpose in a jar
If you ain't ill it'll fix your car
In days of yore for all bad feelings
    Washing socks and stripping ceilings
    Nowadays it's used medicinally
For all known human malady, oh
    It was really vile weather
When we got tarred and feathered
You could hear the six-guns sound
As they chased us out of town
    Whoa-ho...
Wanted in fourteen counties of this state,

Mick Jones left The Clash in 83, the same year The English Beat broke up. Mick joined Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger in General Public and they put out All The Rage (with the hit song Tenderness). Mick then left in 84 to form Big Audio Dynamite. Dave Wakeling reformed The English Beat and is still touring in 2024. Mick is doing side projects, some with Paul Simonon, the bass player from The Clash.

+TheDrRudi I think Steve Jones is in there as well, about a minute in. In my deluded young mind of having loyalty to certain bands and calling others sell - outs, I forgot that these people are musicians and that's what the job entails, creating and hopefully earning a bob* or two along the way.
bob = not so old word for a shilling UK money before European Union, I'm just not happy using the easy get out word "buck" Take it easy
