All of the recessed lights are now installed in our home. We ended up adding more recessed lights to the other container, and we are so glad we did! It helps brighten the space and makes it feel so much bigger... that's what she said. We can see the light at the end of tunnel now, as we approach the end of electrical.
What I like most about these videos is how real and down to earth you both are. You have the cutest, sweetest relationship. Even after all the struggles and stress of building while also having a baby..you are both so respectful, kind, funny and uplifting. I predict you will be married forever. And still be the same good natured people. This channel is literally better than any reality show!! 💞
The 1 thing I don't like about these videos is that they end. I could watch a video about you guys every day of the week. Looking forward to next weeks post already. 😊

Take a photo of your internal walls before you close them up. That way you will know where the wires and pipes are run in the event you have to trouble shoot a problem later

I love your show it takes away lots of my depression I struggle with depression and stress a lot and your show brings joy to my heart I'm a born-again Christian but I still struggle with many things because of my past sometimes people do not understand and they just say get over it but it's hard when you're by yourself like myself ,,, been signal for 18 years and maybe one day I'll find somebody,,, a woman that fear God.. but keep on doing what you guys do I know that you touched many hearts may the Lord bless you all..
Don’t skimp on the recessed lighting!! I am installing them in every room in our house, which is existing, so do it while it is easy. In our laundry room I put more than really necessary and am glad I did. Makes it easy to see those light stains. To me recessed lighting lights up a room better and makes it feel warm. I also installed one above the shower which helps get us going, especially in winter time when it’s cold and rainy and the sun isn’t seen much.
B. Morris I agree, your current stage would be far from being enough lights for me. I put 8 of them just in a living room, and I am glad I did. On rainy days we can light up the room plentifully now.
This. Add more recessed lights (especially work areas like the kitchen). More than you think you'll need. Also, add dimers in living areas. That way you'll have all the light you need and can dim down to optimal for different light situation demands.
I was searching for this comment.. need much more smaller recessed led gu10 at maybe 3/4ft from the wall it would create a much better ambiance and light doesnt come up just one point like a giant sun. With LED the wattsge is less an issue even with solar. Hope they get
some lights on the middle arena to show the beauty of it at night
Dont cheap on networking also, cat6 in living room, kitchen, bedroom all going back to the electric panel. rg6 cabling also going out in case one day you get satellite dish/internet dish/off air tv/etc.. much better to spend few bucks today while everything is accessible then be sorry and rely on wifi and ugly cabling. Even more with video editing! Same with electricity for a tv on a wall even if at first (dont know) they dont need one.
Maybe one of you guys can help me, I have a loft that has the kitchen underneath, which will have tongue and groove pine for the ceiling. The problem is that it is framed with 2x6, so I only have 5.5 inches of space for recessed lights. If anyone can help me that would be awesome, thanks.

Can't help but think how wise you have both been as we enter a pandemic situation. Your self reliance is outstanding. Once your home is complete I suspect a sauna...and more out buildings as you can now do so many things.

Spencer - After you finish the house, and have had a long, well deserved rest, you could probably do some awesome civil engineering with that water flow during the rainy season.

The “Silo” in your creek bed is a huge culvert. At one time there must have been a crossing there across the creek that was washed away by previous floods.
Joan Klaczek It’s definitely a large culvert, but it could have come from anywhere upstream.
@Conely King Not at all. Culvert describes a tunnel/drain. They are commonly made from interwoven formed metal, but not always.

Conely King I have seen some that are old train-liquid cars with like a rubber membrane inside.
I thought I saw fittings on it. If that is so then it is an oil felled tank. Although plenty of them have been used for culverts. And yes somebody let it get away before they turned it into a culvert.
You guys have achieved a lot and it's impressive as hell in my opinion. You did it all yourself from the beginning to end.

You could always run some wires up to the middle where it's tall and put a couple small fans up there. I don't know how wide that is up there but it looks wide enough.

Loved this vlog, you two are so cute! I also am totally loving the recessed light, maybe because I have the same in my home in a few different areas and some with dim-a-lights on them and they are the bomb! I absolutely love them. I have two over the double vanity and they can be high or low for makeup or whatever you might want a brighter light for. Love them in the nursery for dimming if baby's room needs just a tad little bit of light. Anyway, sorry to carry on, but I love the idea here.........awesome. I love going on this journey with you all and it is totally awesome. Hang in there each thing done is DONE! I have photos of our remodel and bare walls and what goes where. We have had a lot of flooding here as well but glad we sit high on the side of the river/streams.

Hey guys
Another tip I have as a drywall contractor is if you’re installing drywall on the ceiling. Make sure to use 5/8” wallboard because your span between ceiling joists is to far for 1/2” drywall. It will sag. The distributors have in times past stocked a 1/2” ceiling board but I haven’t seen it in awhile. USG currently make a 5/8” light weight drywall that’s called “30 Rock”. My guys love it. It has the (near) stiffness as the nominal type X but way lighter. And the screw to use is an 1-1/4” coarse the screw. They work well in wood. For future reference frame at 16 on center. The cost difference is nil. And the strength is considerably better. Put 4 screws in the field evenly spaced on the ceilings and 3 on the walls.
DEWALT and. Mikita both make great cordless drywall guns. The tool it self will last for a long time (years for home use) and will pay for itself in just a few days doing your project. Don’t attempt to do the drywall with a standard impact.
I find myself wanting to reach through the web and help with the things I’ve done for decades. You two are a great team. Love the way the mrs try’s to keep things light hearted. And we can all tell how much you love her!!!
When you get ready for finishing the wallboard I’ll have more to say.
I will say this that if there is any money left in your budget that is the one thing I would sub out is the entire drywall portion of this project

For having no experience it’s pretty crazy that he’s wired the entire house by himself.

We lived as pioneers for 18 months, started in tents, then a camp trailer for winter and then ended up in a building (300 sq ft) made out of pallets and plywood. Christmas day we moved into our house. You're going to love it when you're finished.

I feel "lightheaded" after this video. Ok, some of my questions in a previous post were answered watching more videos. Spencer, and Kenz, is that short for Kenzie? Our oldest Granddaughter's name is Mackenzie and she was called Kenzie. And you lived in Florida before moving to Texas and were in service jobs. We lived in Naples for almost 20 years then Tallahassee for almost 20 years, but my wife and I were from Illinois. Now we're here in Clarksville, Tennessee enjoying retirement and watching your videos. Thank you for letting me come along on your journey. We've been married for 48 years and I can see the love you have for each other. Beau has some great parents.❤️👍

I was thinking, why not put ceiling fans in the middle section. They could be the ones that drop down and it would help to pull air in, if you open the windows.

The giant thing in the creek is called a culvert it’s usually buried under the road from ditch to ditch at an intersection so water can travel though it.
The baby will grow up to be a home builder. You guys are amazing taking on the building of your home.

I've been renovating my own hones for 30 years. You 2 are doing an awesome job on this build and you've got me hooked. I've watched from the beginning and it's totally OK to make mistakes along this wonderful journey.God knows I have. My favorite line is still need to cut the grass real quick, opens gate to let the cows in.

Hydro electric was exactly what that Creek made me think of. Just like the small wind Mills an how cheep they are in terms of what they can do... I of all things like the idea of driving around with them hidden in plain site hooked to a battery bank...

“Tube lighting” like a skylight only uses its cylindrical over bathroom or kitchen sink or frankly anywhere you’d love bright natural lighting would be cool
My opinion~ The hat is not enough to make her resemble Michael Moore! There is so much rain, I don't know that I could put up with it. At least you are able to do interior work! That's a blessing! The hunk of metal in your creek looks like a washed out culvert that would give you a clue on how high the creek can get to wash away something that big! Really enjoy your videos
