This is the greatest lesson to learn how to create problems for yourself trying to fix Commercial Standards! I'm into this Baby. There go my plans for a Saturday night! Haha Thanks!
I used to get so frustrated at people who used to ask me "Why don't you just make adjustments to commercial patterns". I wanted to throw something at them. The amount of adjustments I would have to make, together with the fact that seam allowance is added so you first have to draw those lines in then you have all those other lines from the other sizes.... It would have done my head in!
I've been studying pattern making online for a few months now because in almost 50 years of sewing, it's been 15-23 try-ons and adjustments for my short torso, square shouldered, long rise, fuller bust hourglass 5'1' frame. I've seen many good videos, but you are the first one to cover all my pattern making woes, starting with the shoulder slope. I plan to buy you several coffees! So glad I found you.
As someone with narrow, square shoulders and a 5" difference between my upper bust and full bust, your system will be invaluable - can't wait to get started on my custom blocks! Thankyou so much Maria.
I am working my way slowly through your block making series and am so grateful at the level of detail you go in to explaining your system. I’m also so grateful that you’ve created a system that doesn’t rely heavily on assumed measurements.
Hi Nik, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and my apologies it's take me so long to reply. I've been out of action for a while but hopefully I'll be well enough to start posting things again soon.
This whole series is really great. Thank you for providing the details, talking about assumptions in block making and teaching us the best way to customize our blocks.
Am impressed with your attention to details. I pray you precisely come up with solutions to the assumptions you talked about in block making. Examples are: how far a crotch line can be extended in pant making and shoulder slope in bidice making. An unravel of these puzzles will be of immense help as I have encountered various opinions. Thanks so much. You're wonderful
Hi, Maria! I would just like to say I appreciate you creating this system that includes more specific body measurements than assumed measurements. I've been trying out different pattern systems and I never seem to get the shoulders right. And what saved me is actually getting the actual measurement of my shoulder slope. Your system makes pattern making a lot easier, more enjoyable, and more time efficient 😊😊😊

Thank you so much for this series. I'm self taught and I've been struggling so much to make myself patterns. 🫰💕 Thank you Maria 🙏

Hello Ngozi. Thank you too.
Hi, Maria!
I would just like to say I appreciate you creating this system that includes more specific body measurements than assumed measurements.
I've been trying out different pattern systems and I never seem to get the shoulders right. And what saved me is actually getting the actual measurement of my shoulder slope.

You are welcome and thanks for taking the time to comment!
Thank you so much for the video . God bless you . Srilanka
Thank you ❤
Large bust size here. And your systems are what I have been trying to fugure out. I have no training. Just an extreme bust that I have to refit to.
If you were here I would kiss you! Explanations I was not able to find, thank you very much.
I'm glad you found it useful!
Thanks Maria --break through me.
The one measurement that stays the same regardless of age.
‘One size fits all’ is bd and we women suffer for that assumption. Find your brands that fit your body or sew for yourself.
