One thing people dont understand is, if you are in a dire situation. This stuff will be the best butter you have ever eaten. Same way with any freeze dried food. I do a lot of backpacking and the freeze dried foods are what i take. When your in the woods, this food is very good, but eaten at home you get the same response as you see on these reviews
I made emergency foods and when we have busy days and I'm worn out I have eaten some of my "emergency" foods and they were delicious! I made chicken and rice meals that only need hot water and over the past year we ended up eating all of them. I probably need to make some more! lol
These things are great for backpacking. I try to go places with water so I don't have to pack any in and dehydrated foods are way lighter. Allows you to pack way more calories in a much smaller/lighter package. And yeah being able to whip up some butter to throw on a pancake you made in the backcountry sounds awesome. Get some powdered milk and make yourself a latte while you're at it 😂. It's fun coming up with real backpacking meals rather than spending $15 on the just add water meals.
Finally a review that gets to the point without 5 minutes of nonsense like dented cans or what have you. Too many ‘reviews’ just people that like to hear themselves talk. Which I do not. Waste of time.
I've used this in recipes just as a powder, and it does very well for hot rolls and bread. And I found that mixing it with oil will help it melt to fry with. I found the taste kind of off, like maybe the cows had gotten into a green onion patch or something.
I'm glad my investment was not wasted .I bought the butter powder, honey powder, vegetable stew, peppers, onions and milk. I'm glad I got auguson farms at a bargain. Now the prices are insane. Than you for this video. It taught me how to utilize one of my preps.
Get some shelf stable butter! Red feather butter from New Zealand is canned butter with a nice long shelf life. I’ve got twelve cans in my stockpile right now, and a can of the butter powder after the good stuff runs out if the shtf.
I bought the butter, milk, and egg powder Then I saw they were offering all 3 for 75, after all they go together in a million recipes so I bought the 3 pack Now I see the egg powder is going for 120 by itself for the last 3 or 4 months Damn you Putin! Lol Thanks for the video Nice of you to try one for our benefit I'll sub 😃
I have 2 cans of these stored, I have 6 giant cans of powdered milk. And I have several dry whole powdered eggs. With the severe drought on top of cyber attacks on an already strained food supply chain. I’ve made sure I have meat and dairy products stocked up!
Thank you so much. I was literally in the middle of thinking about a list I need to emergency can for storage. Ghee and butter is definitely on the list because Im trying keto and carnivore and they both really need extra fat in diet in order to work. For all the bakers that's not dieting I think that power butter could be great for butter cream frosting and egg loaf breads since it doesn't melt. I'm about to check it out. Thanks and God bless you in Jesus Christ Jeremiah 29:11 New King James Version 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Thanks I got the butter and milk and sour cream for food storage incase what I needed wasn’t available I have never tried them figured I would use them when needed or b4 shelf life is going out.
Thank you for sharing this. I've never mixed it to use it that way, but, it is good to know you can. I have used it when making emergency meals with freeze dried food that I have stored in mylar bags in my pantry for long term food storage. I made up about 10 freeze dried chicken and rice meals and we've eaten them all!! lol It tasted good. You could taste the butter powder. Now, after seeing this I will have to try it this way. There have been times I've run out of butter and now I know I can use it like this in place of real butter!!
Love this kind of stuff. Thanks a ton. I know from an online review that frying an egg in the powdered butter is a problem. That said, I can live with it - and be thankful. :)

WOWWW did I ever have it wrong hahaha see I had bought a smaller container of powdered butter off Amazon and the darn thing came with zero instructions so I figured what the heyyy and I filled a sauce pan with like 2 cups of water (d'ohhh way too much) and then I just started whisking in the powder and it did start to act like butter after I had used up almost the entire container and I figured maybe it needed fat to become solid so I added a splash of vegetable oil and a quarter cup of powdered whole milk as well then I brought it to a rolling boil and it was making butter on top but there was still clearly far too much water so what I did was I turned the heat down to very very low and placed a lid 3/4 on the pan to hold in heat but allow moisture to steam out of it... Eventually I had what looked like a pan of melted butter and when I whisked it and then let the whisk set on the counter it was drying into butter on the whisk I noticed lol so then I took and poured it all into an old margarine container and tossed it in my fridge so only time will tell now hahaha hopefully when I go and check it here in a little while I'll have me some homemade butter 🤞😝

If you're determined to fry with it replace at least 2/3 of the water with refined coconut oil. Refined coconut oil is flavorless, solid at room temp yet liquefied on contact with human skin. It has a shelf life unopened of up to 3 years and opened around a year and a half without refrigeration. Thank you for the review. I also buy the Red Feather real butter in the can. It comes from New Zealand. You can find it at Amazon and other places. Not as good for long term, but at least you'd start out with "real" butter. Also, having been in the food business for 34 years, leveling your measuring cup with your hand is a big no no. Same with dipping the spoon into both butters while tasting it. Both have now been contaminated. I hope this helps?
I was actually hoping it made the butter flavor stronger. Some people, as they get older, lose the sense of taste, little by little. I am one of those. Butter and lemon are both tastes that I am losing. Butter is the one I miss the most. So, yeah, as I said, I was hoping it would strengthen the taste of the butter.
I bought some bc its almost a 3rd of he calories. I am going to mix them together, half and half to see how that goes. It will still cut my calories and I can still enjoy my love for butter.
Great review. I'm planning on sprinkling butter powder onto ribs just before I wrap them. I hope the moisture from the ribs will hydrate the powder. My concern is that your hot biscuit didn't cause the powder to melt. Maybe I'll need to mix it with the braising liquid first instead. Thanks for the video!

When you posted this in Nov 2020, you mentioned the can costing $17. I just (in April 2022) followed your Amazon link to the butter powder and it’s currently ON SALE for $35.81. List price is $42.99. It has more than doubled in price in 17 months! Yikes.
Yeah, Amazon has been jacking up the price. Walmart has been out of stock for quite a while but just got some in and it is $17. Won't last long before out of stock again.
I know!!! That’s how I got here ! I wanted to make sure it is worth the price. I just bought a harvest right freeze dryer but everything I’m finding says I cannot freeze dry butter
I've stored ghee (clarified butter). It doesn't require refrigeration and lasts forever. I would like to try the butter powder. Can you cook with it, does it melt>
one of them i got was exactly like carnation instant milk. i think it was everyday essentials. Too bad they don't have smaller cans for some of these items.
I appreciate your review. I'm wondering if somehow the company's quality has gone downhill because now when I read reviews of this on Amazon, a lot of people say it does not taste like butter at all. It's what made me hesitant to buy it.
Not really available here in the UK, wish it were, so handy. eBay sells it for $144 coming fro US which is crazy!!!!! Or from France for $273 which is worse! Shame, good stock ingredient to have in one's pantry. You have so many things in USA that is just not available here, makes it difficult to follow some US recipes. But thanks for info on of this product.
Sure if you leave the can open like you just did it will eventually be worthless if you take out what you need and you immediately put the lid back on that oxygen absorbers still going to be good.
How butter could be dried? It is 100% fett, which will be always slightly oily at the end. It is possible to get melted butter which is 99.8% fett, comparing to normal butter which is 85% 99.8% butter already could be stored several years in unopened state, plus, put it to a freezer and you will have infinite shelf-life until power brake.
I didn't know there was a such thing as "butter powder" lol. I guess they put it on popcorn, but I never thought about it as a product lol. Edit: The great thing about the butter powder is that its much more spreadable.
I dare say you would, but as the tin has 1yr after opening, surely once you have started to use dried butter you would be using it within the year anyway? Unless you are just wanting to try it, then put it away for upto 10yrs, id leave it. If however, you do want to put the remainder away, a mylar & new O2 absorber would keep it for longer i reckon. Its what i intend to do anyway, as I will be getting a 25KG bag of butter powder, which doesnt have a huge shelf life.
I was wondering the same. Breakdown the large can and store the powdere in smaller portions into small canning jars. Vacuum seal with an oxygen absorber. In theory, it should work to extend the life of the unused powder beyond the 1 year limit.
wow who knew... I am in Canada.. never seen nor heard of this... I will look.. or do you have a suggestion for me to order online?? thanks a million.. I am a butter gallll .. lol

I don't know if you keep it in the fridge or not. Butter powder is okay if you run out of unsalted butter.
If you add coconut oil it will add the oil needed to melt.
I've sprinkled it on popcorn and it was amazing!!!
I will try that. Thanks for the idea!

😄👍Good To Know, Great Tips
i mix with hot water
Is there anywhere that makes small cans of butter powder
Do you think I could extend the 1yr shelf life after opening, using a mylar bag and fresh oxygen absorber?
I dare say you would, but as the tin has 1yr after opening, surely once you have started to use dried butter you would be using it within the year anyway? Unless you are just wanting to try it, then put it away for upto 10yrs, id leave it. If however, you do want to put the remainder away, a mylar & new O2 absorber would keep it for longer i reckon. Its what i intend to do anyway, as I will be getting a 25KG bag of butter powder, which doesnt have a huge shelf life.
I wonder how this would compare to powdered milk homemade butter?
Can you put the rest in jars and seal it again with a seal a meal..?
I was wondering the same. Breakdown the large can and store the powdere in smaller portions into small canning jars. Vacuum seal with an oxygen absorber. In theory, it should work to extend the life of the unused powder beyond the 1 year limit.
Where to get the butter powder?
On year unless you put the remaining contents into another vacuum container.
wow who knew... I am in Canada.. never seen nor heard of this... I will look.. or do you have a suggestion for me to order online?? thanks a million.. I am a butter gallll .. lol
Powdered Butter in a can. Sounds like something only Americans could think of. Kinda neat tho.
I think you should deep fry it.
I'll buy some for my preps
It is a great product to have for your preps.
I can't find any in UK. I ve bought powdered milk, coconut oil, and ghee, I'll have to improvise.
