Best color combination of this car! Love it! I love how the styling is!
Love the color, but the silver/black rims fit better in my opinion. The pure black ones look good on the white or grey model.
Look at this Megane then picture the looks of the Civic Jesus christ... this is how a hot hatch should look. Meaty looking car and after owning a 225 and a 250. No doubt a superb car to drive and more than capable for the public road.
Looks are for everyone diffrent though, you cant blame or say someone is wrong for liking the design of another car.
Wait for the trophy, this is where the fun begin!
Yet the Civic absolutely destroys the Renault where it actually matters, so.....
Synysterjmz Exactly! And when he said it easily keeps up with the Civic Type R .....erm no it doesn’t proven most recently the Type R destroyed it 😂 he keeps comparing to the Type R, however the Megane a much inferior car. He should be comparing it to a Golf GTI or Focus ST. The likes of a Golf R, Cupra, Focus RS and Type R in a different league night and day difference !!! I very much doubt the Trophy version will match the 300+ bhp super hatches!!
@@markc9274 in a different league??? Are you sure... each one of these cars on the road are just as quick as each other
The gearbox in the I30N is absolutely on the money. It’s so precise and satisfying. That’s after 5000 miles or so. I know it’s perhaps difficult to get a true feel for certain aspects of a car when you maybe only have a car for review purposes for a week or 2.
One of the best Reviews of the New Megane RS. Well done!😎
Excellent review James!
Informative, relaxed and entertaining.
If all we hear is comparison to the Civic Type R,
how about that the Megane is 5k pounds cheaper?
Did Honda pay for the review or is it just biased?
yep, the RS is not reviewed as it should be, because it would of been such a good deal..
Give it 15 years the local teenagers dream car
I'm getting the Trophy version next year, upgrading from a 66 Clio Trophy 😆
Won't have gas in 15 years. Electric vehicle here we come.
@@cknorthpole the life of the party aren't you 🙈🙈🙈
@@cknorthpole Lie, legistlation has been aproved to allow ICE in cars beyond 2040, in hybrid form.
Might need to wait that long before i can afford one too lol
Hopefully I could afford to buy one in two years in the second hand market if the base model price fall under 20k euros...Brilliant car !
Love it. My favorite hot hatch!
Car is fire and cool megane ❤🔥and your filming of this review absolute wonderful 💯
Weird lines in the top of the screen? Anyone else?
Don Limpio yep
Thought I was having a migraine :0
I thought my iPad's screen was dying. So happy others saw I too
Lucas Burk lol me too
Thought it was my TV!
perfect review all the time full with details
a pocket of crisp water bottle sweets humbug reviews always fun to watch
Honestly James, I love your reviews, really grown on me.
Hmm!, we just got the GT-LINE and not bad I must say it's always nice to drive around!
this car , is my goal , it's lovely
Thinking off the 2013 megane rs 265. Any views. Thanks in advance
I've just bought this car (same colour etc) and coming from a Leon fr with a chip so it was similar to the GTi, it is amazing!! It's so planted to road, yes it's a bit bumpy but the feel of it.. its amazing! And the looks... yes I could of got a Golf, but when you see this car in the flesh, beautiful! Also, I haven't seen another Mk4 RS in my town, so it's nice to be different.. love it
Wonder how long the engine mounts last
Oh how i love the normal handbrake
Anyone know which version has shark fin antenna?
Could not agree more about the look of the screen!!
Cool car and a very nice review!
I hated you when you first reviewed Maserati Levante but now you are getting much better. I must say, I really like your reviews.
Daef Omg agreed.
Top Cat He is the very big part of the review.
He hasn't changed, his style of reviews hasn't changed. What changed was that you decided to not dislike him because he was different to Matt. Griefing people because they aren't the same as someone else is really strange.
summed it up well. I drove one yesterday and yeah definitely not a relaxing car. ITs always in race mode lol. But feels like its on rails and the steering is so direct like a go kart. Way more fun than R.
Boot of the Megane RS is actually smaller than a Golf R’s. Performance exhaust steals 100 litres from the regular Megane’s 434 litres, making it 334 vs. 340 of the Golf R.
James does an outstanding job on reviewing high performance cars, more reviews like this please!
Yes he does
This is the car my dad has it's sooo nice :D
Much prefer the previous Mégane RS. May go for a 265 in the future.
Do you wait for it to rain
"Only a 1.8 turbo with 275 horsepower"... the car I drove at my driving school in Finland was a significantly bigger Skoda Octavia with something like a 1.5L engine turboed.... Some people just can't get enough, eh
Megane is best in its class. Larger interior and sharp visual. You can drive up to 300000 km with good maint.. etc in general. Well done Renault ! Better than hyundai kia seat seat ...
Best in it's class? Are you forgetting about the Type R, Golf GTI Clubsport and Seat Leon Cupra?? The Civic is the class leader.
@@Synysterjmz civic is riced out from the factory tho.
@@Synysterjmz civic looks ridiculous and it's quite expensive
@@simeonaleksiev8690 Type R GT is about a grand cheaper than a similarity spec'd Megane RS Trophy. £15k cheaper than a Megane RS Trophy R. You're talking utter nonsense.
As for looks, they're subjective and do not change the fact that the Type R is the superior car.
Cannot wait for the Trophy version
Great Video Review
Rear wheel drive?
Lol. Literally thought my screen is gone forever. Scared to death.
Isn’t there a soft furnishings you tube channel this guy could be presenting?
Don’t buy the larger screen it’s a nightmare to use while driving compared to the standard screen. Both screens run the same rlink versions. Your paying 1500 to make adjusting ac speed a nightmare while driving! Learn from my mistake :(
A very cool car, maybe one day I will be able to afford one :D
i don’t what it is, but i love it
This car looks fking beautiful!
It’s a fabulous looking car
yes yes yes!!!!
good review, batch!
Strange watching this without Matt
Looks mega😍
Why compare this to a civic type r and golf r? They are super hatches with prices in a different segment. Get this against focus st and golf gti.
The question is? Would it be better then the new Focus ST? 🤔😊
Looks better for sure : )
Is my iPad broken or are other people seeing interference across the screen?
Andrew Jenkinson I’m getting it too on the tv
Transmission tunnel? Thought the megane was front wheel drive
It is. Its 4 wheel stear, not 4 wheel drive.
I have one and I can recommend it :)
Just bought one
Red 😎
You’re lucky 👍 one question, is it true that the new one is slower 100-200km/h than the old one 275hp???
@Robin H. , @KHD is it reliable so far?
Stefan C the 1.8 is rly reliable if you get it manual
Long chalk? Dafuw
Excellent host and presentation. 👏
"well" I guess, the water bottle fitting in the door sold me! ffs.
😍😍🤩🥰Renault megane 4 rs
My dream car 😍🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🥰
matt?
Transmission tunnel and the car is fwd.
I'm sorry but Why does this have a manual handbrake and normal models have a electric
Pritesh Champaneri didn’t you know that hot hatch drivers are all handbrake masters in the supermarket car park?! :-))
Because you can correct understeer with the handbrake
A hot hatch in my day was a 3 door car with sporty looks and grunt to match under the bonnet.. A hot hatch today, is a 5 door family saloon.. Lol
True, every manufacturer is switching to 5 doors
@@shaana4079And that's a good thing!
"Easily keeps up with the Honda Civic Type R". As Carwow have just recently demonstrated, it really cannot. 😂😂😂
Synysterjmz it made me chuckle when he said that 😂 it hasn’t a cat in hells chance against the Type R FK2 or FK8. It doesn’t have the same performance - game over.
Umm its not all about speed its also about handling and acceleration and laptime
@@369bogo I know, hence Type R > Megane. The Civic has better handling, better acceleration and is still the Nurbergring FWD fastest lap time holder. So what was your point again??
Yes, the civic made this car look like it had its brakes on! 😂
Yeah nice car but I felt let down by the drag races of it on Car wow. Be nice to see it around a track against those cars tho
I prefer this Renault over the Civic....that looks like a stealth plane without wings. I just saw one in black.....jummyyyy
You have forgotten to put you orange pans on lol !
still no moose test - esp on a empty road which can be done - no excuses
Transmission tunnel on a fwd car ????
That is the tunnel for the exhaust piping...
Edc gearbox in this car is awesome transformers the car
Love everything apart from the exterior and interior
😍🤩😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍🤩
Awesome car
Definitely not made for Australian road's. The suspension is way to stiff for the back roads. I got a Subaru outback 2001 4cyl
And this thing couldn't get away from me in the corners because it would just bounce across the road. On the straight it could pull away but as soon as the road surfaces got a little bad I was on his ars again. I would guess that the driver had a lot to do with it.
Bravoe jolly olde chap
Simplesmente um carro muito bonito e potente.
I bought a 2018 Renault Megane rs
Shut the passenger door. Your letting the rain in!
No inside camera for filming?
There is a line on the video.
No one checks the video before it’s released for people to watch?
Why does this channel very closely resemble CarWow by Mat Watson?? 🧐🧐🤨🤨
Coz Mat used to work for carbuyer before he went to carwow. So i guess he took the format to his new channel (carwow).
I'm sorry James but you sound too much like Quentin Wilson.
originalfunfair i miss Mat Watson
That's a compliment!
@@runrabbitrunracing depends on which way you look at it
Also, he might be gay.
Golf R is so Boring German Cars are becoming like APPLE minor changes every year and call it completely revolutionary
But they are stupidly fast and high quality
But still I would rather own a megane rs cup
It goes more deeper than that!! Do a little research! VW has a very good reason for that my friend!!!!!?
@@albertweedsteinthethuggeni7797 German and quality in the same sentence. Someone's still stuck in the late 90s and early 2000s.
You ll be always returning to a vw golf ma friend :)
This guy grrrrrrr
Great car but feel civic TypeR better , faster more fun and reliable. Same for trophy
Seats 5 no? CTR doesn’t, so not going to choose it. Practicalities essential
Honda left the chat
No it did not
If anything it stayed. The FK8 is a fabulous car.
I am watching in America to entertain myself with European hot hatches, knowing that they will not be sold in the U.S.
Just watch another Chanel and the i30n left the Rs for dust . Shocking .
so its a good car but its not a Honda civic, is that what your saying 🤔
If Renault are able to offer a manual gearbox in the new Megane RS, I don’t see why they can’t do the same for the Clio RS...
Comes down to cost. The clio is coming to the end of it's life cycle. A new one is due soon.
Not much sense developing a manual, testing it, certifying it etc. Hopefully the next generation clio Rs will be offered in a manual.
Having owned a new Clio Sport 172, lots of cheap fun but then kinda useful bits like the driver's electric window motor arm failed, costing me 250 odd quid for an electric motor replacement (as they are not modular) I'm a little sceptical of the build quality on these. Still it only cost me £16k new. I bought a Honda Type R next for a massive £18K and that was a good improvement in build. So try as I might, I cannot see how the prices can justifiably double since the noughties for these types of cars. They are priced so highly today they appear to almost miss the point of a hot hatch.
@@murgatroid2229 oh, do they mate? maybe buy one and enjoy the bits dropping off it.
@@murgatroid2229 ok, so your point is that your "experience" of RS is more worthy than mine. Great point.
car parts are probably a bit better quality than they were when the 172 was made. i had a 172 and while it never broke down, i did spend a fair bit of money on it. the 225 megane i had was a similar story although i bought a bad example. my 250 seems decent enough though and even at 340bhp nothing has fallen off yet!
I know what you're saying, I bought a new Renault 225 cup in 2005 and the window and heater went multiple times, although I got them sorted under warranty it was a ballache. The dodgy electrics were really well known even going back to the old 205 GTi's but they're such good cars to drive. Anyway move on a few years and some friends had bought the R26 and none of them had any problems, so I gave the Megane another go and it turned into one of my favorite cars I've owned, all the problems had been sorted. Same when I bought the RS 265 about 6 years ago, I never had any of the old Renault dodgy electric problems so I wouldn't base my opinion on old Renaults, especially from the early 2000,'s tbh. Anyway, I've got a more 'grown-up' Audi RS6 now but I definitely would like a go in the new one especially the Trophy edition.
what does RS mean
Renault Sport
Yeah but does it do mad skids?
What car can't "skid"? If your referring to drifting, then that's a completely different matter.
Apologies, I've clearly been watching too much McM... Does it go SIDEWAYS?! I guess you non-car people would call it a "drift."
hahaha!!
The best car
anyone who has this car is a lucky men
Still thinking the previous Megane RS looked better
If I was in the market, I'd look at a Hyundai i30n, and probabaly a Peugeot 308gti.... maybe a Seat Leon.... Not sure about this.... Just my humble opinion...
Anthony Deas - Go for Seat
The 308 GTI has fake sounds from the motor.
The i30N is so good, I test drove the Golf GTI performance (to dull but great daily) and Type-R (fast and existing but stiff and track focused), the i30N fits right in between.
Carwow-car buyer?
Can’t get passed the poshness
the badge is WAY to big - makes the car looks silly!
who gives thumbs down?
So basically if you can get past the max power looks you should buy the Honda over this any day.
Is that Noel Coward's great great nephew?
Thats a weird handbrake
jeppep95 The normal Megane has a electric handbrake, I wonder why they put a manual handbrake in the RS
At least less weird than my 2006 mégane rs.
I love renaultsports and have owned a few over the year's including a new 5 GT turbo in 1990. Real drivers cars all of them. Perhaps I'm living in the past but as an avid driver I couldn't care less about the bloody screen and its various functions. You get in a car like this and just drive it. The first thing I do in my Nismo 3 7 0 z is switch the thing off. A proper sports car.
the 5 wasnt a renaultsport.
Exactly!
This channel and host is trying way too hard to be Matt Watson from CarWow.
but yet it still cant eliver a better performance than the type R , I30N or the GTI ( golf ) , probably even the underdog 308 will have its chance with this megane even tho its ages older
