IMPORTANT APPLE CARPLAY UPDATE: In this video I blame Renault for the weird display of Apple CarPlay. I just plugged my phone into an EDC Cup and there has been an update to iOS and now it fills the screen. Nice.
Good review. Just got a orange cup myself after watching alot of reviews. Despite some reviews picking holes in the ride on the cup and the gear shift I'm with you, and loving it. So much more livable than my previous focus rs, and way better inside.
Hi Scott - yes, Megane is a far more liveable car than the Focus and really, in the general scheme of things, i reckon the Cup rides just fine. Good choice!
Hi Robtt - thanks for watching and thank you for letting me know how much you liked the review. The standard car is great, you'll have plenty of fun in it. Let me know what you do!
Yesterday finally saw one up close in the flesh. I love its rear end that massive diffuser. I am a little confused as to why Renault don't offer the car with at least the optional of adaptive suspension for us older people who like hot hatchbacks but not all the time
Hi Mark! It is a good-looking thing, especially in yellow. I would suggest that the reason there's no electrical support for the adaptive suspension, there's no precedent for that tech across the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. While that tech is bought-in, the engineers still have to do the work and I reckon they looked at the RSM's history and thought, "We've gotten away without it so far..." Just makes the i30 N a more compelling proposition, doesn't it?
The only thing I would say is that if you go for the cup chassis, stick with the stock 18 inch rims, the 19s in combo with the stiffer suspension will upset the ride quality more
Hey Brad - that is very good advice. I reckon the 18s are not only more comfortable but that little bit of extra compliance makes it a bit more fun to drive. Thanks heaps for watching and make sure you subscribe!
Well, it's a nice review, but it would make much more sense if you would compare standard 280 PS non-cup version with Trophy 300 version, which has the cup chassis in standard, 20 PS more and much better and louder exhaust 😄... Anyway, Trophy EDC was my choice and I can't wait for the delivery date 👌🏻
Hi Honza! Thanks so much for watching and thanks for your thoughtful comments. It's, er, been a long time since we shot this and even then, there isn't a Trophy 300 for me to review anyway. :-) We'll have the Trophy R as soon as we can - keep an eye on the website or Twitter account.
Fast forward a year later and ive got the face lift standard sport chassis RS is now 300bhp with 420nm, same as the Trophy just not got the stiffer suspension and lsd. The interface on the centre console has improved by the looks of it too. 👌
Brilliant , Brilliant and Brilliant review.. I'm.subscribed.. have you driven the trophy yet.. ? Isn't it a case that the 1.8 engine is more suited to a auto gearbox..
great review mate...I am torn between the Cup/Sport as a daily for my wife. she drives a BMW M135i now, but it is getting on and I've convinced her to join the Renault Sport world! we both love the way they look, and the features, but have only had a short test drive around the block in a flame red Sport chassis model. if you've driven the M135i (which I personally think is relatively firm to be honest, but she loves), are you able to comment on how it would compare to the Cup RS? the standard Sport RS chassis has a nice ride, especially with the alcantara interior, but the LSD, better brakes, and cache on the Cup are enticing.
Hey mate - thanks so much for watching! Having driven (and loved) the M135i, I reckon she'd be perfectly happy in the Cup chassis. It rides quite well and is probably slightly better as a daily than the BMW (when it comes to the ride, anyway!). I had another Cup chassis a couple of weeks ago and can confirm it's a good rider, so spend the extra and you should be okay.
@@TheRedlinedotcom that's great to hear, and thanks for the feedback. I'll try and get a spin in both back to back if I can, but it's good to hear that the Cup won't be too ridiculous in the ride department (she loves the black on black wheels look too). cheers!
@@TheRedlinedotcom so we picked up an RS 280 Cup (EDC), and you were bang on Peter! It is more compliant/comfortable than the M135i to me, and simply a joy to drive! we went for the Flame Red Metallic, which looks great with the black wheels. The Flame Red is also no longer an option on the Renault website, so it may turn out to be a rarer car going forward too! We love it, and I'm looking forward to many happy, revvy kms in our new beast. ☺
Great review, I am waiting to order mine, EDC Sport chassis is my choice but I am still not sure about it, specially about CUP or not because I will not use in a track, what do you think about the CUP chassis for a daily driver?
Hi Harry - thanks so much for watching and for your kind words. I reckon for an every day, the Sport chassis is fine. The Cup is really for people who want to track it or do some hillclimb stuff and don't mind it being a bit hard. I'd get a Cup chassis if I didn't have another car for my wife to drive because she found the Cup chassis a bit stiff as a passenger.
Owning a Mégane 4 RS Trophy I can tell you, that in my opinion the suspension is just fine for every day use. Even my girlfriend, who isn't into cars at all, doesn't think it's too firm. But you should test drive it, because it's very subjective.
The CUP suspension is definitely NOT as stiff, as you will hear from every review. It is really usable for every day use, of course, depending on where you live, because of the quality of the roads. And I would never even consider buying a hothatch without LSD these days, which the sport chassis doesnt have.
Everyone on the internet says that the cup is a stiff ride but anyone who drives sports cars of any kind will not notice any difference. It’s fine for every day driving.
@@TheRedlinedotcom French RenaultSport Megane ;) and Australian country road = perfect views !!! Subscribed !! PS - have old good RenaultSport Megane 225 ;)
Hey Steve - thanks so much for watching! Yes, the indicator stalk is on the left. I don't think any Euro-built car apart from Czech-sourced Hyundais have the stalk on the right. Don't forget to subscribe and watch the brand new Fiesta ST video and share it with everyone you know :-)
Hey Ben - thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. It's interesting you say it's the same gearbox (I'm sure it is) but it doesn't feel the same as it did in the MkIII. It's notchier and not nearly as quick across the gate *as I remember* (my memory, of course, might be unreliable). Thanks again for watching!
Hi Ruud - thanks so much for watching! I think that's an excellent combination. I reckon there might be some aftermarket LSDs you might be able to fit. Might be worth investigating!

Nice work Panda. Looks like it was a hot day
Hey Rob! It was a stinker. Started out alright but just got hotter. Luckily the cars had air-con...

You don't like the old speedo only because you are short, face it.
That depends - how short do you think I am? (also, I see what you did there - face it/clock face)
