    I didn't re-moisturise my hair between washes for years 😬🤦🏾‍♀️🙄 and couldn't figure out why I my length was barely changing! Now I do there's been such a difference. I'd bet a lot of people don't see their hair getting longer for the same reason.

      Exactly! It’s so important to reduce breakage

    • @marleyhill34
      @marleyhill34 3 года назад +3

      my hair is very prone to breakage but moisturising my hair in twists/flat twists daily changed the game. I have to say that I have to shampoo my sensitive scalp weekly. So if you are not a frequent washer or co-washer don't moisturise with creamy leave in's daily. You will get build up. A light daily mist spray is enough if you are not washing weekly or every 3-4 days.

    Ladies and gents - try "deep conditioning" your leave in during wash day. I started this, and no longer need to do mid-week moisturizing. After you finish wash, deep conditioning....add Leave in conditioner, sealant, plastic cap, sit under drier ( I usually do 10min), then continue with styling. I've done this on soaking wet hair and towel dry, works both ways.
    I'm low porosity, so not sure if this work with high.

    I think your hair is looking thicker (I love it). This is a great way to remoisturize. I'm just gonna say it I don't re-moisturize. I use to but for me (everybody is different and that's ok) in my case my hair would get dryer. I get most of my hydration on wash day and style it in a wash n go (leave it until next time). I think sticking with great moisturizing products might have helped me a lot. The way you showed it's something that I will keep in mind if my hair will get dry. Thanks for sharing

      psr076, you're right. Everyone's hair is different. I don't re-moisturize between wash days and my hair remains moisturized for 2 weeks. I think I have normal porosity. Jenn's technique is on point though for persons who experience hair dryness between wash days.

      I use a specialised regiment for my scalp, hair and my environment instigated by my trichologists. I moisturise and steam daily. I don't use raw oils or butters or grease or silicone apart for on last 1/2 inch of my ends to reduce friction when I need a trim. I shampoo weekly due to a sensitive scalp, product build-up and pollution and deep condition weekly with heat. I don't use tap water daily as it is hard where I live and I chelate every 4-6 weeks. I have a separate protein regimen because I have ultra-fine hair and separate scalp mist and gel made by my trichologists. Some tap waters will dry out your hair and a build-up of products will dry out your hair. Everyone needs a regimen specialised to their, scalp, their hair and their environment

    How do I prevent frizz and flyaways on twists?
    I also love applying water and steaming my hair in the shower more or less the same way you've demonstrated.
    I'll do that almost daily and if I don't do it properly I'll probably get a spray bottle and spray water until my hair is damp.
    After that I'll do a leave-in/oil and about once a week even apply aloevera gel and maybe even moisturizing cream and cover with an oil.
    So my hair is not as dense or thick as yours and I did twists that are medium sized so that they could last longer.
    I'm finding though that the neatness of the twists is not as great cause it looks quite frizzed and there are a lot of flyaways.
    I do sleep with a satin bonnet btw. Any help or suggestions?

      Not when it is loose. So for styles that are "set" like twistouts, I only do it if I am retesting my hair. I still do the steam trick though. In a puff, I do the shower trick but only add more products like once ever 2-3 days.

      Moisturising like that would cause my twist outs, puff and braid outs to shrink. If I don't want shrinkage, shower steam of a very fine mist spray of leave in. My trichologist would rather I moisturise like this daily and keep my hair in twists, or 2 or 3 french braids than wearing my hair out. I only wear my hair out regularly in the tropics or in summer.

    What are your thoughts on Haitian black castor oil? I’ve been seeing videos on it but the price tho!

    • @asile6659
      @asile6659 3 года назад +1

      I’d say it depends on your porosity! I have low porosity so castor oil is VERY heavy and makes product buildup happen literally overnight. For some high porosity folks that can handle it, I hear it works wonders!

      @@asile6659 Interesting. I'm also low porosity and castor oil is the only oil that keeps my hair moisturized. Those lighter oils get soaked up within 12 hrs and my hair is dry again. I just use regular castor oil though. I haven't seen any difference for me with the jbco so might as well get the cheaper option.

      @@deehines5750 I'm low po too and my hair love it ! I think it's because my hair is thick so it might support better than fine low porosity hair.

    Sealant?

    • @marleyhill34
      @marleyhill34 3 года назад

      I don't seal my hair. 1. because I'm allergic to most sealants 2. because I am high porosity and moisturise and steam my hair daily. 3. because I shampoo and deep condition with heat weekly. My hair is moisture trained.

      I didn't this time because the product already has oil and shea butter in it so it's like an overkill.

      I no longer do a full seal because my scalp is allergic or sensitivity to oil butter and grease andy product on my scalp. I might put a very small amount on my ends to reduce friction but that's it. I can't have it on my scalp anymore. Everything switched up when I turn 30. lol! Smh.

    Jenn... I've finally worked out why your skin keeps breaking out. You need to stop washing your face with products. It just needs water and daily gentle exfoliation (no soap).
