I saw the original Nightmare on Elm Street in 1987 on HBO when I was in the hospital for pneumonia. Three times. I was a kid, and loved Nancy. Years later, I got married. Around 2010, I rewatched the entire series and noticed that my wife was a dead ringer for Nancy, and even shared her real life name with the actress.
The reason fire works so well this time is because this "Freddy" is a story demon. Once upon a time, it was the witch in Hansel and Gredal. That's why he taunted Dylon by saying, "I got some gingerbread for you!" So, just like the witch, the demon got shoved into an oven again. Worked to put it back where it belonged.
Yes.. That's my Cousin Miko.. and I will tell him you said "He plays creepy good as hell" lol ... I am sure he will enjoy that comment! Like I said.. as a kid.. give him McDonalds and he will preform his ass off lmao.
I dont think this movie got the love it deserved until some time after Scream came out. This has always been a favorite of mine. The original, dream warriors & this is a perfect Nightmare trilogy 😌
This movie missed a golden opportunity to show “Freddy” killing Robert Englund himself. Fun fact: did you know that for a time, Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in Star Wars and is the voice of The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, was roommates with Robert Englund before either of them got big? Roommates is a bit of a stretch - it was more like Mark sleeping on Robert’s couch for a while between gigs and he was flat broke, but still, Freddy Kruger was temporary roommates with Luke Skywalker/The Joker. Real life is fucking weird sometimes.
There's something called the 'Beautiful Dream' theory. When Nancy dies in Part 3, Kristen holds her telling her, "I'm going to dream you into a beautiful dream". The theory is that *this* film is the beautiful dream. Where Nancy is an actress with a successful, loving family.
Jay has a reaction to Pet Sematary and it’s wonderful. It’s the first reaction I’ve seen of his and I’ve been subscribed ever since. That reaction along with his reactions to The Gremlins, The Birdcage, all the Shreks, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Uncle Buck are my favorites.
What you probably didn't know that made this film META was the Earthquakes. This film ran production during 1994 Northridge Earthquake. January 17, 1994. Wes Craven used the disaster as part of the film to make it look like all HELL IS BREAKING LOOSE ON ALL SIDES!
And if I remember right, Heather was legit getting stalked around that time also and Wes Craven asked permission to include that in the story in some way as long as Heather was ok with it.
This movie was epic! Instant classic just like the original and part 3. Anytime Heather Langenkamp is involved with Wes Craven and Robert Englund...u just can't go wrong!
Best sequel of the franchise, without question. It's so damn creative, and Wes Craven was doing the meta thing just a couple years before Scream, and I'd argue that aspect works WAY better here than in Scream. Also, Heather Langenkamp was FINE in this ❤
Jay, you and I see eye to eye with these famous onscreen baddies. With Jason being our fav, and this movie being what and how Freddy should be if he needs to be scary. I love this movie for its originality and doing something different. They were able to have Nancy face off against Freddy again without disturbing any existing continuity. I agree with you 💯
when this movie came out it really felt like the universe gave me a gift. My best friend and I decided to start writing a script for a new Freddy movie back in 93 (we were 9 years old so it was obviously shyt) b/c we couldn't deal with Freddy being gone; a year later this was out and it really felt like it was made just for us. When I heard there was gonna be another movie it was legit one of the happiest times in my life.
The nurse who you said is in Insidious, is Lin Shaye. She’s the sister of Bob Shaye. The head of New line Cinema. All of them are playing themselves except Heathers son, her boyfriend, and Lin Shaye.
Fun facts: The earthquake was already in the story. They just happened to film at the time of the Northridge earthquake. Also, Heather Langenkamp is not only married to an sfx creator, but helps him in the company they own. Cabin in the Woods was used for creatures
The nurse who gave Dillian the pill was in Insidious, and Nightmare on Elm Street 1 she was also in There's Something About Mary. Dont watch Freddy vs Jason until after you watch Jason Goes to Hell.
I watched this when I was really young and having the old hide under the blankets idea destroyed in this scared the shit outta me. For a short time I would put my feet and legs all the way to the bottom of my bed and run them along the edge repeatedly to make sure there was an end.
'You can't keep me here you're security not a cop' As someone who has been in hospital security for all intents and purposes they may as well be cops for anything that goes on within the hospitals grounds. They can absolutely detain you, arrest you and use force against you if warranted. Hospitals and airports are two places you do not want to mess with security
This is what happened when wes craven has control and has a better budget to work with then the original he can make freddie actaully scary while making a great movie as well they did him justice in this one, new nightmare is arguably number 1 in the series.
@@oblongbox5110 Nobody told me anything it's widely considered that by horror fans with 1 and 3 The first nightmare is a little overrated tbh with cheap looking effects acting was corny in parts new nightmare was everything in that but improved if you don't have it at least just under 3 and 1 you are just hating imo
Have to agree with you.... this is my favorite Freddy movie. I actually like this one more than the original . The make up dept. and costume dept. for this one went above and beyond ....this is a Top notch 'Wes Craven's New Nightmare" and I appreciate every minute. I just hope between Stephen King's Pet Sematary and Wes Craven's New Nightmare that little boy was not emotionally damaged . He looked very close in age in the two so hopefully his home life is very healthy balanced with Love . I have to admit I do like Freddy vs Jason more than this one but Freddy has such a Boss look in this one it was a hard toss up at first . I will have respect for anyone that likes this one over Freddy vs Jason ....it was not an easy call for me . We all have our reasons . I really enjoyed your reactions and comments here A Lot . Thank you
After you watch Freddy vs Jason, definitely check out the documentary “Never Sleep Again”. You don’t necessarily need to make a video about it, but as a Nightmare fan, you’ll love it 👍
Bruh, I hope you review Dylan's New Nightmare after FvJ!! You'll definitely love this! This one is definitely among my top 3 in the franchise! Excellent review and commentary!!
I can't wait for the Freddie VS Jason one. But this particular movie is okay. I do appreciate that. Is directed by West Craven. I just feel like the acting just wasn't there.
inception or meta movies: we watch a screen to, watch J, watch a movie about, someone making a movie about, watching someone dream about, watching someone be stocked & watched by the killer. Make me wonder who is watching my life story?? LOL
Lin Shaye is Robert Shaye's sister. Her playing the nurse in this movie is a little messed up because she should have been playing herself. She was in the first Nightmare On Elm Street movie as Nancy's English teacher
You out here sounding like Denzel on this one. Alright OK aright OK ok OK . Alright. I was waiting for you to scream Margaret! Movie was way ahead of its time btw. Love this one.
Love horror movies their the only ones I watch and this is a good one thank you so much for everything you do take care of your two copilots 😊 thank you
it’s cool to see my name on the list and glad it’s on a slasher saturday 😁 been watching your reactions for awhile but just recently been able to show my support on patreon. love your reactions and can’t wait for you to watch freddy vs. jason
I know people love the first film and it's their favorite, but New Nightmare is my favorite in the franchise. Freddy actually seemed terrifying to me. He was bigger (body size) and meaner. We saw him messing with teens/adults throughout the entire franchise, but he was literally terrifying a child in this. It was different.
I always found it rather odd how this movie while being a fan favorite for most fans and critics, it bombed at the box office. I still to this day do not fully understand why or how. Regardless, this is one of my favorites in the series. I love how meta it is and yet, still tries to be its own thing in a way. Love the throwbacks in this too. I think my only real issue was the fleshy look of The Entity’s claw hand. I honestly wished they had used the mechanical one instead. That one looked much cooler in my opinion.
I think it's funny that IRL Robert Englund married a woman named Nancy.....Freddy Krueger was named after a bully director Wes Craven had issues with as a child.
What could have been one of the best scenes in the movie would have been showing Rex as a real dinosaur in the child's dream fighting Freddy instead of just alluding to it.
Lin Shaye (old lady from insidious) I believe is Robert Shayes sister the one who works for New Line Cinema he was the guy she was talking to in the office that wouldn’t answer the phone
A lot of people don't like the redesign of Freddy and his claw for this movie but I think it fits perfectly. He no longer looks like a burned man and looks more like a real demon with his flesh ripped off. Like he's not part of a person now and is his pure evil self.
My boy I always thought of New Nightmare as the sequel that we got on another timeline like H20 so I don't think in this timeline Nancy was killed off, in this timeline Dream Warriors didn't happen. Love the content thanks for the reaction!
I thought the concept of this movie was clever and well executed. But the kills and look of Freddy didn't really do it for me. But hats off to Wes Craven for doing something different with the franchise, and showing that you don't need to stick to a previous formula to made a decent flick
Nancy aged like fine wine. She looks only a year or two older from the original movie to this one
SHES SO FINE
Met her and Lisa Wilcox (Alice from 4 and 5) last year and they both still look great. Both very funny and sweet too
@@dustywaynemusic6297 that's So Cool
Well to be fair, they "aged" her up for Nightmare 3 so she didn't look the same age basically as the "teens" in the movie lol
"You know why Freddy after y'all...all them bad scripts". Dude, that's some real motivation.
uTook the word outta my mouse
😂😂
I love this movie. It's soooooooooooo ahead of its time and original
Wes Craven only worked on this movie, the first one and the third one that's why they're the best ones LOL.

There was a scene that was cut where Robert would dream of being caught in a web as a spider with Freddy's face slowly crawled to him.

The coroner who shows Heather the body in the morgue is W. Earl Brown. He ended playing Kenny, the camerman in the first Scream
Also, “Franks and beans!!!”
Wow I did not notice that😮 good eye😂
Heather Langenkamp and Neve Campbell are my two favorite final girls. They're both gorgeous as well. ❤
FAAAAACTS!
Agreed 👏🏽 also Jamie Lee Curtis for me
Both of them and Ginny from Friday the 13th part 2
@CaramelPrincess1990 she's a grandma ha ha.
My general rule for the Nightmare series, if Nancy is in it it's good. If she's not your mileage may vary.
The little boy (Heather's Son) was Gage in Pet Sematary..a classic horror movie/story from Stephen King.
He was also the kid in Kindergarten Cop that says, "Boys have a penis and girls have a vagina." Lol
Yeah that kid creeps me out
And the kid from kindergarten cop (boys have a penis girls have a vagina) ha ha classic.
Explains a lot.

My favorite Nightmare!! I loved how dark Freddy looked in this. He looked more evil and the glove was amazing!!
Right after the first Nightmare on Elm Street, Wes Craven's New Nightmare is my favorite because it is well written.
