This trilogy was backwards.
It should have STARTED with Michael long since vanished and forgotten, Laurie having come to terms with her trauma, but then her spider-sense goes off when she meets her granddaughter's weird boyfriend. Cory's meeting Michael in the sewers could be more ambiguous, maybe real, maybe hallucinations. Cory might just be disassociating when he "sees" Michael kill. Then it comes down to a fight, Cory vs. Laurie...then we see Michael enter the house and realize it's actually him, not a hallucination. He kills Cory, fights Laurie and goes off into the night...
Then the second movie can play out roughly the same except minus the stupid "defending yourself is wrong because you might hurt someone" subplot. Judy Greer dies and Michael disappears again.
Time jump a few years to the third movie, and now Laurie becoming an alcoholic doomsday prepper makes more sense, as Michael has attacked her twice and much more recently as opposed to just one chance encounter 40 years ago. And the finale of trapping him in a burning house is much more satisfying than a slow funeral procession to an industrial shredder.

Halloween Kills has actually grown on me, but Ends? Phew, lots of Michael Myers 'Old man walking through the mall wearing new balances' moments in this one.
Halloween Kills deaths were savage and thats all I really liked about it the brutal kills as far as ends goes went out with quietly with a whimper!
I've always loved Halloween Kills, Ends was fine except for Corey dying
Halloween 1 and 2 the original 2 r the best out of the Halloweens.
I know that look and any true Fan of Halloween is Sick to their stomach 🤮 with this "Movie" it looked like more of a mini series on Netflix. It's the only thing I wish JC never put his name on.
I always thought Corey storyline was a great concept for a horror movie, but not as the finale in a Halloween trilogy. They advertised this as the final showdown between Laurie and Michael, but he wasn’t even in most of it and that’s why a lot of us were pissed with this.
They were too afraid to pull the trigger and kill Michael early and have Corey become the shape because of the backlash from Season of the Witch. I wish they would have stuck to their original ideas for the trilogy, but alas studio interference always wins
I wouldve liked it if corey lived, showing that while the shape might be gone physically, he still exist symbolically.
But to kill both michael and corey was wack

Michael went from a badass in Halloween Kills to renting a room from Pennywise 🤣 The switch of evil power would have been a good spin off movie…but this shit is called Halloween Ends! The whole movie should have been about the fight between Michael and Laurie!
You missed the whole point of what Laurie was saying at the end of Halloween Kills. You can't fight Michael with anger. She chose not to go the way the others did in Kills which ended up getting them killed. She chose to live her best life for the first time in over 40 years. In the end she killed Michael but it wasn't from a place of anger which is why she held his hand at the end. It's just a shame some fans just want to see a 2 hour slash-a-thon

You probably missed it because it was a “blink and you missed it moment,” but in the intro to the movie with all the newspaper clippings, the town demolished the Myers house. So that’s why Michael wasn’t still trying to go home.

What a terrible way to end one of the best horror franchises of all time
If people properly keep score, every franchise eventually goes out like this. Thus we end up with reboots, prequels and requels. So long is they can make a bunch of money without spending much money, they'll just keep leaching every last drop they can from a franchise.
If it makes money, like this trilogy, a franchise is not going to end. Especially in this day and age where they hardly make any original movies... eventually the series will start up again. Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter... haha.
This movie is trash, this is the 2nd time watching & will be the last. TEAM JASON however I do enjoy the 1st Rob Zombie version of Michael he was brutal
I really liked both Halloween 2018 and Halloween Kills a lot, but this one Halloween Ends was just pure trash.

Hopefully after Halloween Ends and Exorcist Believer, no movie studio will ever be dumb enough to give David Gordon Green the money to make another horror flick again. Easily the second worst movie I've ever seen ...after the Rise of Skywalker or whatever that last Star Wars flick was called.
So long as his movies keep making money, they'll keep hiring him. The only way to put an end to his garbage is for people to stop going to see it. Boycott his movies, and he'll have to find another profession. BUT, fans are like people watching a trainwreck. They know it's likely going to be horrible, but they can't help but watch anyway.

I feel Cory's arc should have started in "Halloween". ...not the original, obviously, but in the...what was it...2018? That one. Just cramming it all into one movie was a terrible idea.

But if you didn't hear, Miramax got the rights back to Halloween away from Universal, so they're going to reboot it again with new movies and a TV series in the near future. So this will be yet another past timeline soon lol as they'll bring back the real Michael again.
They nerfed Michael in this movie just for the sake of the crappy plot lol...it's almost as bad as Jason's fear of water in some movies. It's just bad writing. I think the stuff with Corey had potential for his own movie but they just squished too many sub plots and plots into this. Yes as a Halloween fan, this movie pissed me off...especially after the first two of this trilogy. Most Halloween fans debate which is the worst in the entire franchise, Ends or Resurrection lol.
At one point, I really thought they were going to retcon Michael's story & have it be that him killing his sister was an accident somehow, but he was treated like a monster from then on, so he became one. It would then tie into Corey's story & how he's becoming what people labeled him as... but no.. it just.. did even worse lol
I just don’t understand this movie like…. They hyped it up with the ending of Kills and then they pull that BS and Michael doesn’t even show up until the end of the movie…. What? 🤣💀 This is gonna be funnier than Halloween Resurrection.
They blew their load in the last one. That epic rampage Michael went on should have been saved for the finale. It left them with no place else to go.
They hyped it up in the "Extended Cut" of Kills. The original theatrical release didn't have Laurie tell Michael she's coming for him and walking out of the hospital room with a knife..... But then, regardless of which version, Laurie is just a sweet old grandma raising her orphaned granddaughter with Michael still on the loose? I'm with J, how did we get from point A to point F? NO WAY does Laurie go from being a paranoid post-traumatic alcoholic after the events of a single night 40 years ago to what we see here 4 years later..... when the events of the last 2 films were way more traumatic for her than the original film and Michael isn't locked up.
I don't understand you fans that do all this crying and can't even keep the story straight. Michael showed up long before the end and he has more screen time in Ends, than he does in the original movie

I think they were thinking passing on the mantel to that cub and he becomes the new micheal but I sense something changed during the making of the film since they killed the cub off with Michael doing it!
John Carpenter never intended to go sequel city with Halloween.
But then again, the writer of Friday the 13th never intended for Jason to exist outside of the past.
But Jason does exist and it became a famous franchise with mostly fun movies.
Carpenter wanted Halloween to be an anthology series with different stories. But stupid horror fans wanted Michael Myers back.
@michaelmacias8 so because they knew what they wanted makes them stupid that's kind of disrespectful to say he was obviously a popular character fans expected him back but if they saw the trailer to 3 they'd have known he wasn't in it because you never see him anywhere and the trailer suggested a different story.

I didn’t hate it. At least it was something original. But I’m not a huge Meyers fanboy. I’m actually of the opinion he should have been killed off in Halloween II. I would have loved to see them go the anthology route instead with a different horror story set on Halloween. The series is too boring and repetitive. There have been some good ones since HII. 4, H20 and H18 and arguably HK, but I would be willing to sacrifice that for no more Michael.
This whole movie is trash. Build up Laurie vs. Michael for two movies and then all of a sudden ignore all that for someone else? This really should have been a netflix TV series of a bullied kid who copycats Michael. Not a main movie entry

Halloween Ends should have been the ultimate face off between Michael & Laurie not about a new character Corey who we never met before.
I love & hate this film. I love and respect them try something different, but it was the WRONG time to do it. If they wanted to do something new they should have done it in 2018.

The way I hate this movie. Corey is to Halloween what Locusts were to Jurassic World..... quite simply, they ran out of ideas. The third movie of a trilogy is always the weakest. Star Wars (original Trilogy), Indiana Jones, Alien, even the original Halloween trilogy..... I can go on. I don't know why, all of a sudden, Hollywood thinks everything needs to be a trilogy. It's a stupid and pointless mindset unless one already has a developed storyline that can't fit in 1 or 2 movies, completely planned out before production on the first even begins.
I didn't know what to expect from this reaction but this was a pleasantly enjoyable and funny reaction. You've encapsulated everything the vast majority of the fanbase were thinking watching the movie for the first time in cinemas. Specifically with regard to being misled by the trailers, the shift between narratives, and the overall direction the movie had gone. Still, a great reaction.
As a playful side diss - Sure a weakened Michael Myers got belittled and overpowered by Corey, that won't make it easier to mark him as the GOAT. But Jason was defeated by a young child who merely cut his hair to trick him, with Jason being at full capacity in terms of strength. That's way more insulting and embarrassing than what Corey did to Michael. XD

Check out Halloween 3: Season of the Witch (1982)! It's way better than Halloween Ends and Resurrection, even though Michael is not in 3! I know you skipped it from 2 to 4 but I believe you'll like 3!

this movie gets a lot of hate but i had a great time watching it haha in my opinion the new halloweens are an homage to the first 3 og movies. the third original movie was season of the witch which was totally different and threw audiences off and this one does the same. this one is very different to the first two new ones.
like the second one of the new ones it was set at hospital just like the og second movie. the film makers make it clear from the start that this one has a different spin on it by changing the opening title font, i get what they were doing.

I've never been more upset over a Halloween movie. That being said I'll always love the first Halloween over any Jason movie but the Friday series is way better than the Halloween series after part 1
Be getting home and calling it a night right before 7 o'clock, as luck would have it. I'll start dozing off just as we see that skeleton CRUNCH!

Life long michael myers fan, my favorite slasher of all time and this made me die inside how embarressed I am for this movie
Halloween Ends is a set up for future Halloween's. Michale Myers would have eventually died of old age.
I'm a Freddy fan but I respect the other horror icons and while the Halloween series has been all over the place storywise, Michael is an OG that has earned his status. This movie didn't give him the ending his status deserved. Some of the thoughts J shared are so similar to my own, I just copy pasted my IMDB review here. It's lengthy so only read it if you're truly interested.
"So, here's my take on this.
This didn't feel like a Michael Myers movie. Michael only had like, what, 3 kills? Corey had 10. This was supposed to be Michael and Laurie's final showdown and seeing as how Michael is a horror icon, his ending should've been epic and it wasn't.
Michael seemed weak, geriatric and to me, this film feels more like the birth of a new icon. The birth of Corey. It was like Michael sensed an evil under Corey's surface and rather than kill him, he infected him and brought that evil to maturity.
I thought the plot was initially shaping up to be a showdown between two boogie men. It sorta felt like Corey could've been developing his evil but when it came time to for Michael to show up and attempt to take out Laurie and Allison, he would've helped destroy Michael to protect Allison. But, alas, this is not what happened.
Here are a few things bothered me.
Why had Michael not made more attempts on Laurie's life if he was free and living in the sewer for four years? The homeless man implied that Michael had been in the same spot for those years and all the people who went in the sewer had failed to come out and was shocked when Corey emerged.
Why was Corey able to so easily subdue Michael and steal his mask? It was almost sad to see that Michael was being manhandled.
Did Corey gain Michael's supernatural strength and ability to regenerate? It seemed he gained strength because he squished the girl trapped under the truck with a single stomp. He was also able to jump up and attempt to keep Michael's mask after having stabbed himself in the neck. Does that mean that he could survive Michael's attempt to break his neck? Is that why they left Michael's mask behind rather than get rid of it?
Why couldn't there had finally been an explanation as to why Michael was impervious to harm and driven to kill Laurie? After all these years, a little explanation would have brought his story full circle.
Why weren't the Haddonfield residents dressed in costumes on Halloween night? The procession to the grinder was a missed opportunity to return to that classic Halloween night feel and they really should've had the people of Haddonfield dressed in costumes to play that moment up to its full potential and made it a true homage to Michael's legacy.
The film wasn't total garbage and could've been fine as a stand alone spinoff of the Halloween franchise but it just didn't feel like Michael's Halloween and it didn't send him off with the epic last stand his legendary status deserved and should've had. It wouldn't surprise me if we were to see a Halloween Reborn film that brings us a potentially new slasher icon to fill Michael's shoes."
They did Michael dirty. He deserved a higher kill count, more blood, more strength and while the final girl fight was good, I wanted more for Michael and Laurie. If anyone read all the way through, let me know what your thoughts were.
@JL I really liked the first two of this trilogy but them going in the direction they did with Michael only in it as they put him was a VERY bad mistake. Worst movie ever
I can accept worst Halloween movie ever, as that's a valid opinion. But worst movie (overall)..... trust me, there are 100's if not 1000's of movies that are way worse than even this. Both Sci-fi and horror genres have had some extremely poor clunkers in all aspects that make this seem like a masterpiece by comparison (and that's not saying much, because this fell way short of the mark).

Love your reaction...but this movie made no sense. No rational thinking person would be this clueless. This movie was just murder porn...just for the sake of violence. Even if you were on the dysfunctional scale...you would understand the need to run away from pending danger. Yeah, kind of stupid, but why not? They're all fun. In my mind, it's Halloween (1978) and Halloween II (1981), and that's the end of it. Halloween III is allowed because it's totally different ("Totally!"), and H20 is an acceptable addition to original Halloween canon. The rest? Meh. But I love them all, regardless! They could keep dragging it out in alternate Halloween universes for all I care (Rob Zombie). Popcorn and candy time!

This is definitely not Halloween Ends as I personally would have made it but....I gotta confess to liking this movie. Mostly. It's actually rather complicated to explain why. Honestly, I think that the reshoots harmed it if they were what I think they were. They should've just gone with their gut and made it 100% how they originally intended. But still....I think as a movie it's better than a good half of the Halloween series. At LEAST..
I actually APPRECIATE and like this movie , misunderstood, these movies are FILLED with metaphors and analogies. And yes , Laurie is SUPPOSED to feel out of place but I LIKE SEEING LAURIE HAPPY FOR AT LEAST A MINUTE!!!

One of the posts had an obvious answer as to what DGG should've done instead of betray Halloween fans this way.
He should've Reversed the stories in the series starting with this one, going through Kills, and ending with Halloween 2018 (2021).
That would have made more sense. But, we got this.
This is why we love the other movies. The movie itself may suck, but Myers is still Myers... Except for reshooting the original Resurrection ending of Myers killing Busta Rhymes to letting Busta Rhymes "kill" Myers. Whatever.
Oh, and lazy writing with Myers changing places with the medic. That was an easy fix and they blew it. Still, Myers was back and wrecking lives. Fine.
Here's the thing... If this movie followed the novelization, it could've been better.
I don't recall what the novelization (and original script) really says, but I think it says Myers was badly damaged in the battle with the town and was dying.
He was using the victims the homeless guy brought him to try to find an heir and failing that, to charge his batteries, but his wounds were rotting and he was unable to heal.
Knowing the "curse" was dying with him, Myers found Corey and was training him to take his place. When Corey touched/stole his mask, it was over. Myers's changed his will after that.
So, Myers takes back Everything he gave Corey and kills him. Now, Myers has the tokens of his curse back (mask, knife, curse). But, he's still dying.
Who's left to give his dark gift to?
The only person left -- She Who Will Not Die.
Remember, when Myers grabbed Strode, she had flashbacks? Ever notice? If you watch closely, Strode changes afterwards.
Novelization Spoilers:
At the end of the novelization and original script (maybe), Strode keeps the cursed tokens. Allison doesn't notice because she so glad to leave town. But guess who notices?

When he takes the vegetables to Strode's house after Allison leaves, he's actually checking on her because he sees/senses it.
The Boogeyman changed Shape and it's Laurie Strode.
It's why the ending of the movie has the mask on the table. In the original, the knife is there, too and Strode is just standing in the middle of the house Breathing. Waiting. Planning. Her eyes even changed if I recall.
And guess who's outside keeping an eye on her, waiting and planning to kill Her?

But, DGG changed it into this talking point about "trauma" and whatever. Toned it Way down, changed the focus, and pretty much said he didn't really care how the fans took it after he completely reniged on his Promise to us.
So, yeah, a lot of us are angry.
Bonus: DGG said his trilogy is done and other people can do a different storyline however they envision it. Which is what the TV series is supposed to be for.
We're tired of broken promises but I guess we'll see.
PS. I kinda wonder if Allison was the one Myers had originally selected to take the curse. If you think about it, Allison was very innocent and smart. Much like Myers was when he first became exposed to the curse.
He never once tried to kill her even though she was in his immediate presence multiple times. Not until she swore at him to help Cameron. He just never got the chance.

All you have been doing throughout pretty much this entire series is disagreeing with me that Michael Myers is still a human person. You have been stuck on the whole "magic", "voodoo" whatever aspect. In your opinion throughout all these movies, the whole he's a demon, it's magic, voodoo; but now supernatural business such as "some of the evil that is in Michael Myers couldn't magically transfer to" Corey?
All you had to do is keep the same energy that you've had this entire time, the whole "he's not human, it must be magic or voodoo or supernatural" and you might have had a better experience watching this movie.
Now I'm not going into a complete deep dive about how I interpreted the story of this movie. But I will give you the abridged version. Dr. Loomis said that there was an evil inside of Michael Myers. After Corey killed that kid by accident, he wasn't the same person. The harassment Corey endured became too much. He saw Michael Myers and looked into his eyes and they each saw evil within. Corey's mental state snapped. He knew he could become the next Michael Myers as Michael Myers was now an old man.

Hey OEM, if you love Friday the 13th, there's a new movie out on Shudder soon called " In A Violent Nature" that is essentially a 2024 remake.
The movie is Friday The 13th but darker and gory without the silliness and cheesy acting. It's shot in that old square TV format.
It follows the same plot, same character with a mask, by a lake, who walks around taking people out, they just made it a lot harrowing and serious.
I haven't seen it, just watched a review of it.

I loved Halloween 2018 & Halloween Kills. Michael killed everyone that got in his way. Then Halloween Ends has Michael acting like an old man & needing help with kills? WTF?? The movie becomes the Corey Show??? Michael dies like that??? Are you kidding me!! I have never been so disappointed in a movie I was hyped to see.
Michael Myers is still my GOAT, Blumhouse's awful writing ain't gonna change that. I don't really like Halloween Resurrection, but I'll sit through that again instead of this one, Ends is a garbage movie with great production.
