@@davemusselwhite4240 Not population-wise though... USA, Europe, Japan, China are all entering summer. The VAST majority of the population lives there. The even vaster majority of Zwift users reside in those areas.
Odd time for a price rise. With northern hemisphere summer finally just around the corner, I'd assumed they would have wanted to hold onto as many subscribers are possible over the summer period.
Anyway, for me at least, this was the nudge I needed to cancel.
Probably trying to get this in early so people forget what the price was when they resub in the fall

It's pretty obviously a money grab and most of us are guided by our principles rather than our ability to afford something. Nice joke though.

Next in Zwift update is the toll roads,you have to stop in a route when you passing a toll area and pay a fee for maintenance the busy roads in Zwift (road tax)😅😅😅

33% is outrageous, that being said that Tour de France avec Zwift sponsorship wont be cheap and the pro riders in the marketing wont be cheap either , seems liike a dumb move to me and for that reason......im out [edit] just cancelled membership after 4 years unbroken monthly. Sad but 33% is greedy

No price increase since 2017 is still pretty good going to be fair to them. Yes subscriber numbers will probably go down but I'm sure they've factored an estimated decrease into the price hike.

After three uninterrupted years with Zwift, I turned to Rouvy last week.
During the rainy period, I needed to see landscapes with sunshine.
I don't race much either, so I can easily imagine paying by month in winter and forgetting about the great light bikes and the points earned.
The monthly price was already steep enough last year when I started cancelling for the summer. Now I'm going to be actively looking for alternative for my winter indoor riding altogether.
Looks like the departure lounge at the Zwift Airport is buzzing today-hopefully, they've stocked up on enough virtual snacks and drinks for all those eager to take off!
A big rise ! Got the email about the price rise, immediately went to see if I could switch to a yearly subscription for £129 (UK) and the pricing has already been updated online. Have now cancelled. £180/£216 is a steep increase. This is way more than a gaming subscription I pay for.

I’ve been on since the Beta days but I’ve not been using it so much recently so I’ll definitely be pausing for summer and will review once the weather start to get wet again. Paying for TrainerRoad, Training Peaks and Zwift is getting expensive now

I left Zwift for Rouvy last September and haven’t looked back. Moreover, my watts have improved due to not sitting in everyone’s draft all the time. Far more realistic…..
Go. Left Rouvy for their poor performance and flattening climbs and not telling you about it. If a company is going to do stuff like that, they should be transparent about it.
Shane - many thanks for the update and views. I watched you on as a guest on another RUclips and many thanks for everything that you do. The points on power meters were, of course, spot on. As you may know, an international standards team based in Europe worked to create the measured watt - it didn’t exist and they have top views on PM accuracy. Anyway - another top video and for the price of a flat white a week, it’s still good value - Zwift.
And you thought "The Grade" was the steepest thing Zwift were rolling out in "This Season on Zwift"....😉

I agree that there should be a multiple user/household option.
They wouldn't be able to charge each person (now) $20 a month, silly goose.
Zwift has never cared about the ideas and wishes of their customers, just take a look at their forum.

The fact that a virtual cycling app that requires our own equipment cost more per month than a brick and mortar gym is insane. At the current price, it was hard to justify to begin with...

@@dmitry.gashko do you think outside of the racing events. It truly needs to run in the cloud. The game itself runs locally. If they "need" $20 a month to run the servers. They are doing something wrong on the infrastructure side.
@@dmitry.gashko lol video game servers take like 50mb of internet bandwidth used total through a 1hr period to run per person. less than a 5 min youtube video. that is absolutely nothing.
My price was £8 in 2018, £13 in 2019 and now £18 . Around 40% price rise. Not 33% and defo not the only rise since 2017. Much above inflation! With summer approaching it might be time to pause the subscription and use my local velopark. At this price i would prefer a PAYG option. The UK is the most expensive region when taking into account exchange rates. I think they have also got their maths wrong.

During today's Zwift session, I asked the group how they felt about the price increase and one clever zwifter came back with "partying like it's $19.99 USD"....

"Ride On" should be replaced by "Pay On"
I wasn't going to pause over the summer as I like the option of the garage if we get a shitty weather week. I now am. That's a ridiculous percentage increase, and over 200 quid a year mentally puts it into "costs I need to fully justify". The result is that they'll get the same amount or a little less from me every year from now on (and they risk me trialling alternatives on those summer rainy days that you never know - I might prefer ...).
I’ve used zwift all year round since 2017, this price rise is making me wonder about alternatives.
Even with the increase Zwift continues to be the best investment for health and happiness that I’ve made since retiring.
Whoosh is free. Did it for the first time. It was good.
Main problem is that I don't feel I'm getting my money's worth with this price increase. Zwift has felt stale for quite a while.
After 3 years of Zwift I switched to Rouvy. Zwift has stagnated in development, while Rouvy has made great leaps in the right direction. I thought I would miss Zwift, but that didn't happen.
Thank you Zwift for making me go outside and enjoy the fresh air and save some $$, I knew you always cared about us.
I'll be honest with you, I was considering jumping the ship before the announcement. I train with a coach and don't use any of zwift social features my chat is muted. I'm riding same flat course over and over again (erg is on anyways). So for me it was already difficult to see value in the zwift offering as it was, now they're upping the price while not adding to the feature set that is already missing the mark for my type of consumer. Hence I decided to sell all my data to Arabs and move to my whoosh.
Don't get what all the fuss is about, whenever Zwift release new routes, add-ons etc... people jump on the band wagon ands have a moan about it. Hardly any positive comments. They haven't upped their prices in 7 years !!! So you have all effectively been getting free upgrades in that time. I know I'll get some haters on here and I haven't commented to get a reaction from anybody. Just simply wanted state my opinion and hopefully nobody berates me.

I am right there with you. The reactions & apparent need for people to share whether they stay/go is silly to me. Not sure why anyone else would care where I choose to ride and spend my money?
But there sure is a vocal group that apparently rejoice in criticism on many levels, especially when $ comes into the picture. Making a huff on their way out the door as if that matters to anyone else but them (which I just don't see).
And still cheaper than a monthly gym membership.
Glad I have just gotten annual subscription before the price rise.

As I saw someone else mention, this was boneheaded if not just for the timing of things. Zwift was perfectly priced where it was at imo & because of that, even during months where I’d ride maybe 1-2 times or even fewer, I’d still let my subscription stay active just cause it was easier than managing it. Now? I will only maintain a subscription to Zwift when I plan to ride a lot like during winter.

You could even save more if you don't auto renew on a month to month basis. If you were meant to renew on the 1st of the following month but didn't end up riding till the 8th then you've paid for a weeks subscription without using it.

You may have to spend what you save (and more) on new hardware for MyWhoosh - it killed my laptop that happily runs Zwift :-/

I cancelled as soon as I got the notification. Zwift was already the most expensive subscription I had, and I use it way too little. This was just the push I needed to get rid of it.

I just wish they would have told its current customers of the increase. I would have switched to the annual plan sooner, but Zwift doesn’t seem to care about its current customers and their loyalty. On the other hand, I’m never happy with price increases, but 7 years without one isn’t too bad.
First rise since 2017. Still the best value platform out there. Annual sub is the way to go. The new updates are excellent too.
£15 a month for great routes, great workouts, mates group rides, races, tours … definitely worth it.
I’m good till January 👍 I like the platform and never tried any others but will defo checkout the competition nearer the time🤷♂️ to be fair though the price is still not that bad depending on how much someone actually uses it

Talk to Wahoo about issues with getting virtual shifting to work with KICKR 4 & 5. Seems the issue is in their court. (Yes, I am on the Wahoo forums and traffic there isn't as nice as it is here.)
£ for £ it’s still cheaper than a gym membership. UK average monthly gym membership £44.92/rolling month.
Everybody knew this was coming. The people I Zwift with think that HQ has pricing power. I don't think they have as much as they think they do, there is plenty of other competition. Moreover they continually screw up rollouts of updates with no real substance added. My suggestion was to add premium pricing to the racing platform and to begin charging runners. But as usual HQ goes for the easy path.

Interesting decision to this now instead of November. The past few years I let my subscription ride during the summer, but after seeing the email, I cancelled it. I'll be back for the Tour of Watopia in the fall.
Here's wishing that all companies would only raise their prices once every 7 years! Zwift has revolutionised my indoor riding since 2016 and still loving it all these years later. Simply put - riding with or against others online gets me riding more, can't complain with paying an extra fiver a month for it after all these years 🤷♂

I’m good with it. Thinking back to past times, sitting on a fluid trainer watching TV while trying to do a structured workout in the dead of winter or a sweltering summer day and $20/mo is a bargain.

Cant think of any subscription services that havnt increased their prices for 7 years. Ive tried every program and eventually cancelled and gone back to zwift. It probably helps I use the run feature as well.

Be sure to cancel Prime, Hulu, Netflix and Apple TV all at the same time. I do say that was a step increase (25%), but being new to Zwift, how long was the annual price been at $149 US? In the end, I am enjoying the platform immensely. Oh, and Peloton, $44/mo.
New to Zwift since Dec 2023 at $14 lol did I think it would stay at that price ? No , I don't travel or eat out , and to protect my skin from the Florida sun, I will not ride the road because of 2 close friends being hit and killed on their bikes. I race in Duathlons 6 or more times year ,and have a bike trail ZERO cars , 2 times per month I head their . $ 19 is still cheap. Cheaper than Strava or other things in life . Happy of course not .33% for now . I'm sure Shane will let us know the finer details . Thanks Shane Since Dec 22 rode 289 times , getting my money's worth 🚴♂x289

I think we are all a bit spoiled. Cycling indoors was entirely rubbish in 1996 and 2003 and even in 2007 when I tried again and bought a version 1 Tacx nightmare system that never worked....not until Zwift 2015 did the IT support the dream of VR: fumes and fracture free training. Life changing. To all the people at early zwift many many thanks from me 😊

I have always been surprised Zwift was as "low cost" as it is. I have a home gym and this is my only fitness membership. Given the many hours a week I spend on Zwift and the enjoyment I derived from it it's still ok for me. I can imagine if you have other fitness memberships or use it less this will sting though

Been using for 9 years but just cancelled. Used ROUVY for the last year which is much more realistic and interesting as you can “cycle” places you cycle. Also you choose where you go today, not London, New York and Watopia AGAIN!

@@robertomcdonald2767 The price worked out at £14 per month, I wasn’t sure when the last pricing increase was so logged in to check. Thanks for asking Robert as there was a nice surprise waiting when I logged in, there is a new pricing structure announced with loyalty discounts after 65 days depending on the plan. A 15-18% discount depending on your plan.
Yeah for this increase they really should improve the platform, open up all routes daily, have an option for solo riding without all those race-like features so you can stay in Z2/3 when you're supposed to and not feel tempted to "race", allow customizing virtual gears, better realism, true steering, etc.
