Three Free Zwift Alternatives

- My favorite Zwift alternative RGT just shut down. I know a lot of my subscribers found me through all my RGT content and you're probably wondering what's next. Well, I'm still trying out new platforms! Like RGT some of them are free or they have a free option. I'll run through three here that can save you some subscription dollars this winter.
1. Rolla World 1:43
2. Mywoosh 3:25
3. indieVelo 5:35
Needed this after Zwifts mad decision
I suspect this video may see an uptick haha
OMFG that avatar running with the bike made me laugh so hard. Played that back a few times 🤣
Me too haha. So glad I was filming.
Where at?
@@jmdelira872:18 😂
That one platform that shows a thief robbing a bike and running with it, that's pure reality nowadays.
Good one.
Great roundup of available "zwift" alternatives. Appreciate the info.
No problem! If anyone knows of others, I’d be interested to give them a go. I’m a glutton for punishment in that way.
About mywhoosh, I have some knowledge about the Topic, It's true that it's kind of UAE funded , but they are not Collecting any type of data at All, UAE is not involved directly or indirectly in the decelope;ent and progress of the project or any decisions taking . I can't mention names here , but some Big guys in UAE are fellow cyclists and they are as enthuasates about cycling as you, they wanted to give cycling community another alternative from different perspectives with cool new features. many new things are still to come. they are not trying to sneak into cycling community for some shady reasons , the app itself is screaming UAE they are not hiding it. and you know they could have aquired Zwift if they actually wanted something from cycling community , but they trying to be part of it not to dominate it.
So it is green washing?
I doubt that they (UAE or MyWoosh) just don't do anything with the data. Data means money. And no doubt somewhere will be written that they can use your data for other purposes than improving this app. I have no proof, just a hunch.
Hmm...
Thanks for making this video. I do miss RGT!!!
Same here! I'm actually planning a trip to Cap Formentor this summer. Wish I could still ride it on RGT.
Wow! That was my favourite ride, hard work but so satisfying when finally at the top 😊
I loved RGT
You can ride it on Rouvy @@JonathanCrain
Would love to see you critique IndieVelo racing and compare it to Zwift.
I’m planning on it! I need to put some more hours on the platform to fork some solid opinions. I’ve mostly ridden Z2 on IV thusfar. And raced bots.
Perhaps the Rollo has an option for the treadmill? ;)
It does actually, not sure why the avatar also has a bike ghost riding with them though haha
@@JonathanCrain I think the avatar was trying to run away from an over friendly bike.
With an Android wristwatch, you can also manage a fully analog treadmill on your wrist. I found that at a speed of about 10.5 km/h, the distance traveled in the virtual world is surprisingly accurate. Above that, there are bigger differences.
Yes, it does have
You re right i am like you i try the three and prefer indieVelo for the good dynamics 😉👍
Winter time means more Bike Stuff!
Will be curious to see if/how the positives of IndieVelo and others influence Zwift updates.
Me too. Regardless of the “failure” of RGT, I do think it pushed Zwift in a big way. Cleaning up the Home Screen, adding teleportation, better pack dynamics (especially visuals) even pace partners are all partially the result of competition.
I’d love to see some races in IndieVelo as well as trying to mix TrainerRoad in with IndieVelo.
The adaptive training of TR and functions of IndieVelo would be incredible!
Thank you very much, this was a big help
No problem! I need to get back on Rolla. Apparently they've done some updates since I made this video.
Awesome vid Crain!
mywoosh requires a high spec computer and graphics otherwise it freezes
They have an iOS version that works on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV now. I also think you can manually turn down the graphics fidelity on the windows app as well. It runs fairly smoothly on my PC which is extremely low spec, but with a mid range graphics card upgrade
@@JonathanCrain My laptop and desktop both have i7 processors. When I tried to download MyWhoosh it would not complete the download as the minimum processor spec is i9. So a complete waste of time unless you're prepared to go to the expense of upgrading your pc's processor. At the moment I'm using Indivelo.
@@JonathanCrain
I use a Laptop with an integrated nvidia chip - works perfect.
@@typogene1313 They've done lot of work on making the graphics work on lower spec machines since I put this video out
For some reason I could never get my whoosh to run on my laptop or tablet. Just will not load.
You probably need to look for “MyWhoosh go”. It’s a slightly paired down version of the game that works on lower spec machines/
I remember you built a gaming rig with GTX 1650 GPU. Are you still using that same computer?
I am! Still going strong. I'm typing this comment on it right now as I start the trainer up.
Time for a new video from JC !!!
I’ve got a couple half finished and recording a new American Peloton episode Sunday
Is there a way bot to have to steer the bike in my whoosh App? I just wanna ride and not have to click left or right on my phone to steer. I try turning off virtual steering but it doesn't recognize my bike. The bike I'm using is the Schwinn IC 2
The steering function seems generally messed up. I tried pairing my Sterzo smart and it said it was paired, but wasn’t affecting the steering in game at all. I don’t know much about the Schwinn but I’d assume it doesn’t have any kind of built in steering control? And are you running whoosh on your phone or just using your phone for the companion app?
Is RGT still around? I would like to load one of my courses into an app and practice.
Nope, they just shuttered it unfortunately
@@JonathanCrain is there another app I can load my route into?
Bkool does that. I’ve ridden other people’s routes on there but never gone down the rabbit hole of making my own
@@JonathanCrain Thanks! Going to check it out
Is it true free subscription pal?
These are all free yes. Indie Velo has some kind of patreon group or something you can join that gets you access to custom jerseys and club functions or something, but you can access all the courses, events and workouts for free.
@@JonathanCrain will try it.. Tyvm
Every June I want to leave Zwift
You could pause it, and have Indievelo downloaded in case of a rainy day
I'm a retired old guy former road racer and this winter I want to ride inside some here at home. I've found a few used Stages SC3 smart bikes for $1000us - $1500us but will these free apps run with the SC3 thru my laptop/TV screen? Im semi computer retarded. Help? Why do people say the Stages SB20 is a better choice? I dont care about racing, or group rides, I just like the routes, say like Alpe D-Huez, and having my "ghost" from last week visible, etc..
The SC3 is more designed for gyms so I actually don't know if it would connect to these apps. If it does, I don't think it has erg mode which would automatically adjust your resistance for a workout, or sim mode which would adjust resistance on the virtual climbs. If you're an ex racer do you already have a bike? I'd say your cheapest and best option right now is probably a Wahoo Kickr Core. It's fully compatible with all the apps, including the free ones in this video, and it's about half the cost of the SC3.
My Whoosh = UAE sports washing, not worth the moral cost.
These are three alternatives that wil sell your personal data to make a profit. Also when you ride on Zwift 3 times a week then you are really a cheapskate for not wanting to pay for the service they provide.
What evidence do you have that any of these sell your data, or that Zwift doesn’t? I pay for Zwift still, just showing the options that exist.
@@JonathanCrain How would they make money when the platform is free? It is simple. Every service that you use that is free uses your data to make money. that is they only way they can exist. Servers are not free U know.
@@MrLeovdmeer I actually don't think any of the platforms listed here make any money.
@@JonathanCrain They make money but just not profit.
