3:53 Good thing to note is that Apple discontinued the 8C GPU version of the M1 Air in June 2022. Maybe because Apple wants to differentiate more between the M1 and M2 Air. Maybe because Apple would rather use the M1 8C GPU chips for iMacs and Mac Minis. Who knows. But I thought it was worth mentioning.

I'd say it depends on your workload - when I was just putting the edit together it barely heated up. When I did my color grading pass using Filmconvert Nitrate (rather resource intensive plugin) the chassis started feeling a little warm - never to the extent of being hot though.
@@zy_cheng that sounds very comforting considering the mixed reviews online. Please do share the heat performance on daily use as your use case is similar to what I intend to use it for.

@@zy_cheng thanks ! That's kinda stress relieving for me. I'm a pretty average user when it comes to laptops. I only use them for college purposes and Photoshop works. I waited for this M2 Air for like 3 months.
The speaker/microphone setup sounds better on the M1 MacBook Air.
Seems like gain is higher on the M1.
M2 reminds me how capable M1 is. I think M1 is a solid buy in 2022. Then I would jump to M3 Air. I think at that point we will have a much bigger leap. Btw amazing unboxing.
I feel like if you are just getting a Mac the M2 is the way to go, but if you already have the M1 Air then waiting a few more years would be best

I see that M1 with price drop and magnificent power is still the better choice as most of ppls getting air are not RUclipsrs who do video editing, also the old design is better plus sound is better in M1 due to the classic speakers position , add to this when u watch video u won’t get benefit from the space on sides of the notch as it turns into black bar same as M1 add to this even with intensive use the thermal throttling is more with M2 , bettery is the same in both

Let me guess, Midnight is best? Starlight is for girls so Midnight is the only colour left that isn't 'boring' I like Space Grey, the Midnight will get scratched so easily!

Yeah, the costs are almost insane BUT this would be a sustainable investment for next 5 years at least.
Also consider about 2 more years of updates compared to the Air M1.
At that price why not go for the 14 inch pro?

Fan helps reduce thermal issues (the air is known to get warm)
Portability is less than the air but it dosent render you immobile
Honestly at that spec and price point go 14 inch MacBook Pro bro- it’s the best.
Also the power of the M1 Pro demolished the M2 (multicore score and GPU cores)

Just retry the export time test with having few applications open in the background(like chrome with few tabs,LR etc),u will notice the reverse result with M1 coming first bcoz of the better NAND-SSDs.
Have you seen the MAX TECH videos comparing the M1 and M2...very interesting. I don't use laptops but I like to keep up with what's happening with technology developments.
Hey man, I am looking to purchase a MacBook Air. Should I go with MacBook Air m1 or m2. The base price of m1 is ₹86k (1075$) and m2 is ₹101k (1375$). Should on paper there is a difference of 300$. But I can sell the free AirPods that will come with m2 air.. to lower the price but it will still cost me ₹100k (1275$). So what should I do??

I would say save your dollars man. The m1 is an amazing machine and still performs amazing. My brother has an m1 and although the screen on the m2 looks slightly bigger i have to be honest with you the screen on the air looked alot bigger to me than i than i thought it would before i had seen it. The m1 air is still a really powerful machine and still will beat 90 percent of intel laptops on the market , Regarding the new one supporting a billion colors id suggest you look at screen comparisons, check out the youtube channel tech chap he had a really good review. But anyway ive seen a few screen comparisons and honestly i can barely tell the difference the air m2 looks a little bit brighter but besides that they look the same. Also the air m2 has the 1080p webcam but if you already got an iphone that doesnt matter you can just use Continuity Camera which has amazing quality compared to regular webcams. The only reason i see to get the new air m2 is because of the New Design. besides that i dont really see any reason too. And trust me i had been crazy about the air m2 for months , i was waiting for months and dude and the day all these youtubers finally got them i went through a ton of reviews and struggled with the decision hard for 4 or 5 days. But i just came to the conclusion its not worth it. The m1 is amazing machine man dont let the hype around the air 2 convince you otherwise you'll have all the power you need and more. Hope that was able to help man lol.

I have another question for you should I buy MacBook Air m1 or m1 pro… I am a student studying engineering. My work flow will be coding, photo editing, lite video editing (no 4K), entertainment and just casual gaming no high end games.. some basic games for fun like GTA 5
