Just read some comments after a day - wanted to clarify I was mainly joking about how British people are never satisfied with whatever weather we get. I totally understand it may have been a challenging time for those with disabilities or working in hot factories etc so I apologise & hear you obviously! Was just ranting about healthy individuals that worry about it here but also pay for it elsewhere lol.. It was nothing to do with the ins and outs of climate change! :) x
Remember-most of those places are geared up for hot weather with air con- you won’t find air con in 99% of British homes.....our homes heat up so much in the day , all that brick work.a lot of homes in say USA or Australia tend to be drywall and a wooden frames

I think the complaints about heat definitely happen more in places where air conditioning isn’t always available. I live in Wisconsin, where it gets super cold in the winter and can get dangerously hot and humid in the summer. When you don’t have access to air conditioning when it’s that hot, it’s absolutely miserable.
I don't complain about the weather, but i am very concerned and worried for our Earth. Climate change and global warming is alarming and devastating. I live in France and we never experienced such a dry hot weather that has impacted all our lands, wild animals and more. We had several wild fires which destroyed thousands and thousands of acres. i have friends who lost their house and had to evacuate all their horses from their home. We need to stop complaining about the superficial things in life and start to open our eyes to see how everything we do affect all of us and our planet. Not everyone can do everything- the most important thing is that we all do the most we can to help save our earth.
You’re a great advert for ‘if you eat, train, work and play like THIS… then you can look and live like THIS!!! 😆. I’ve been plant-based since the 1980s and ain’t never going back!

Most countries that have tropical heat have air conditioning. I am a Brit and live in Singapore. Everywhere is air conditioned including the cars. Even those who don’t use it at home during the day will turn it on to get a decent sleep. Other hot places use their days to avoid midday and sleep so they can enjoy the warm evenings. England is not set up to cope with the heat. Same with snow. My parents in law in their nineties are suffering in the heat. All they have is a fan in their west facing sheltered flat.
The reason the heatwave was a big deal is because it’s not supposed to be 30-40 degrees in the uk, it’s an alarming change caused by climate change, and the amount of habitat that has been destroyed due to wildfires across the county (but especially Surrey heathland) is devastating. The air here has been thick with smoke for weeks, even big oak trees are wilting.
Normally I don’t comment about the weather, I love our varied seasons and all that they bring :)
And for some really intelligent people (no pun intended) is really not a thing...they think ...all that carbon and methane isn't doing much to the planet...
Plus.. everyone's complaining but doing nothing..
They still wanna eat a ton of meat , waste a shi* ton of water , use air ways , buy unhealthy amount of plastic and cloths.. waste food.. etc
Reducing meat and dairy intake alone can make a huge impact...but all they wanna do is complain...and support the industries that is destroying the planet
I don’t think Miles was complaining about people who complain about climate change (a very real issue that should have everyone’s attention, especially after these recent heatwaves).
He was more just complaining about people who will always complain whatever the weather, of which I know many personally and it’s very annoying when they complain it’s too cold all year and then when we finally get some summery weather, they’re still not happy.
I agree that the recent heatwaves were not normal, but we’ve had lower temps than that and people have still complained it’s too hot.
The reason why the heatwave was such a big deal was because everyone was working and living their normal lives. When people pay to go on holiday, they are paying to go and relax by swimming pools, not have to work 9-5.
What about people u work 9-5 in the 🥵hot conditions all year around in tropics?
@@alphasophist9269 Well I feel like they are probably used to it by now, and have adapted their environment to be able to deal with the heat better e.g. air con, whereas England basically has no aircon.
@@aimeeefemey5314 Nobody who does construction job in tropics get air conditioner. They're daily wage labourers. Complaining about weather is a privileged thing that well off people.

Im from the Netherlands it is the same here about the weather. But I love the Netherlands, I love the cold, fall and rain. I only complain in the summer.
I totally agree with you on the British complaining! It drives me insane every year. It’s never warm enough all year, then when we finally do get some nice warm sun, you’ve got people complaining that it’s “too hot”. It’s like, what do you want then??!!!
I get that it’s one thing to laze about near a pool in the heat and to actually go to work in it, and I do agree that our country isn’t quite equipped to deal with hot weather (we need more houses and schools with AC built in). So yeah, complain about that - not the weather itself!
We have winter for like 7-8 months of the year so people should just be grateful and make the most of it.

Hot weather is actually proven to kill healthy older people who wouldn't otherwise die relatively soon. Also, elderly and vulnerable people don't get enough thirst signals and have less ability to sweat, that's why there are alerts. And of course there are enough people that don't want to pay to go to hot places on holiday, but prefer to go to scandinavia for example... I understand you want to be provocative for entertainments sake, but this just really rubbed me the wrong way as it's quite inconsiderate.

Sorry Miles I do think you miss some very important key things about the unusual heat and drought situation. "In summer 2022, parts of Europe have experienced drought conditions exacerbated by heat waves" this means rivers are drying up. Animals who depend on these waters to survive are struggling or dying. The crops are dying or providing low yield and cost will be effected as well. Both things should be of concern to you as a vegan. It is fine if you wish to complain about humans who complain of the heat, though also unfair as not all of them spend money to go cook in a different location & many have health issues or age that make such hot temps dangerous . Not acknowledging that this is a bad situation for animals and our food supply makes me feel sad
That's totally true but I think Miles was talking about people who are just complaining about the heatwave because they are hot. It's not UK specific though. I lived in Germany, the Netherlands and now in France and people are complaining about the heatwave as well. I totally get the remark that people go on vacation to tropical areas, but I think it's one thing to have a heatwave on the beach on vacation and another when you are at home or at the office and you actually have to work. We had a month of heat now, mostly over 37 degrees and I wasn't really able to focus on work and also didn't sleep well because it didn't really cool down at night. But yeah, the draught and wildfires absolutely sucked more than us feeling uncomfortable and hot of course
Heat waves according to some people are nothing to worry about...as they say ... Global warming is not an issue any longer..
I'm glad that people are going to have to pay for their reckless behaviour...

37 degrees inland will always be different from 37 degrees at the coast. There's also differences when it comes to humidity. Ask Jil - when it's 35+ degrees in germany, even in the north, it feels like there's constantly a thunderstorm about to go down. It's pressing and gives you a headache. That's 100% different from 37degrees on the portuguese atlantic coast or wherever people go on holidays.
i think a big concern is mostly if you don’t have access to air conditioning or if it somehow goes out (as someone who just lost AC during a heatwave in the US and has a dog at home who was not safe)
but i get that those weren’t the people you’re talking about

I've never seen people get triggered by something that clearly wasn't meant to be rude. As much as folks dog us Americans we don't cry about it and get offended at everything, we just ignore it, let people have their own opinion, he didn't say anything bad, damn!

We pay to go to hot countries to sit and relax, we do not get to sit and relax in England as we have to work!
....and it's a different humidity than here in Britain!
Speaking as a disabled person, the extreme weather has exacerbated my condition and diminished my quality of life significantly. People with disabilities and elderly folk are really impaced by these heatwaves.
And it's not just about the heat itself, the reason why we have this extreme weather conditions is because of climate change and this summer has again shown, that governments should focus more on this issue.

I have always eaten as perfect as possible because I was born with a genetic issue. I had stresses before the heat waves started happening in the state I'm in in the US. We never had days like this, let alone a whole entire summer. I'm now at the point where I can't get up and feed myself and I'm losing two or three pounds a week that I can't afford because I'm nutritionally deficient. I'm 93 days from being 58 years vegan. Of course they're going to blame it on being vegan instead of the fact that I had no help eating when I needed it. They will ignore the perfect blood test I've had my whole teenage and adult life. It's the fact that I cannot make meals like this in the Heat or the cold because of what I was born with. Though I did have that so under control with my diet, there was a break in that because of really bad things in my life happening. And I just cannot catch up. I've had a couple of heat strokes this year. I did not go to the hospital I should have because my nose was pouring blood and I was vomiting from eating. Mostly I'm just babbling.
Lol, I'm from Texas but I've lived in London. The first time I was there during a heat wave I was like "I'm finally warm!"

I agree somewhat I think there should be warnings for elderly people and just in general, but I do agree that people are being dramatic like Goldilocks the weather is never just right haha. I think when working a 9-5 job it’s a lot harder to appreciate the hot weather when stuck inside or not being able to cool down so people generally enjoy it more on holiday. The only way you could offend Miles is if you said you don’t like a good cup of tea! lol. I sometimes wish there would be more hot weather as it would hopefully mean more tourism for seaside towns that are being neglected because people prefer going away to where it’s sunny.

British people have this weather complaining thing in common with the mineiros (people from Minas Gerais).
When is warm (around 28 degrees) people go insane OMG WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE. Then they get their cars and drive to Rio to 40 degree weather and lie at the beach all day.
When it gets cold (anything below 16 it's already too cold for them) they all go on the same "we're all gonna die" but then fly to Europe on winter or Argentina.
