I’m a female tennis player and I remember the day I finally hit a 100 mph serve. I was working SO hard to get to that point and felt so insanely proud and strong that day. It was so exciting. The same day my male friend, who played much more casually with me and my coach and acted more as a hitting partner, tried to clock a few of his serves and immediately hit a 116 mph serve. He was definitely trying super hard but it still came much easier to him than it ever could for me. Initially I was discouraged, jealous, annoyed. But then I took a rational approach and realized that it is simply because his muscular makeup as a male was entirely different than mine. We laughed about it and it never bothered me anymore. If I let it bother me, my mind would probably convince me that I should just give up on my goals if it was so easy for him.

Thanks for speaking to this Miles. It really takes another level of arrogance/entitelement/delusion to go up against women in sports as a male-bodied person who's gone through full-blown puberty as a man. Like, does it feel good taking away the trophy from the other deserving females who've worked their absolute arses off to get to where they are? Not to even mention the issues of privacy etc.

The reason why women is sport are not speaking up about this is because a lot of them can't. There's actually a lot of female athletes speaking against the issue but usually they're retired. Those still in the game are probably worried about losing sponsorships, and contracts as well as public ostracization. Like you say, most of them work their assess off to get to where they are and how many would risk getting dropped after all they've worked for after being one of the few brave enough to talk about it when they have could jusy keep their head down and hope they dont come up against a male? There are not that many men entering women's sports so it just seems safer to keep quiet since chances are that they won't play one.
Theyre currently facing a lose lose situation. Speak out and potentially lose your career, livelihood and public standing or be quiet and endure an unfair system thats putting you at risk of not only losing unfairly but also of being injured by a male thats much bigger than you.
Its a difficult situation for the ones directly affected so its actually very important that people like you speak out since a lot of the athletes feel like they cant.
Its just a system of bullying womem.

Sometimes I seriously ask people why they think dopping is bad in sports and everyone is scandalised, but no one gives me a satisfactory answer. The reality is that sport at the levels that professional players play is never "natural" because it doesn't represent the average person or what the average person can achieve to begin with.
So if we are going to start having these coversations, I think we need to be ready to seriously ask if we are willing to defend and properly define what the purpose of professional sports are tbh.

Yikes ... attacking her on her looks and then saying "what is she doing besides playing dressup" ... for me ruined a video which otherwise made some great points. Low blows

Your cheekbones are otherworldly, insane bone structure. So many male tennis players look like ancient mythical gods, so it makes sense that you've played tennis. It's good that you're speaking up on this subject with so much knowledge and truth.

Completely off topic, but how come you quit tennis? Was there a specific reason or was it a question of financing the career?
Edit: you just mentioned the shoulder surgery
