I know it’s been a minute :) dropping up real time vlogs in a couple days but wanted to post this first! I’ve watched this crap in silence for so long & the reason I go hard on these people is because the negative ripple effects of following diets like this (under the name of veganism & weight loss) can be catastrophic! I’ve seen way to many women in particular suffer as a result of following this insanely restrictive nonsense. With the exception of freelee (hers was a very old video for giggles & I like her), but with the other 2 what you are watching here is “health professionals” projecting their own eating disorders onto other people in the name of a good cause. Do better! I only make these because I genuinely care about the physical & mental health of others. Laterz & stay tuned xx
I worked with healthy emmie. She is the worst. So dangerous. I’ve never had more of an unhealthy relationship with food. I was scared to add tahini or avocado to anything. She said things like “since you’re heavier you can get by with having a little fat and still lose” it was awful. I’m embarrassed I paid for that.
Yesssss!!! Part 2 please. I’m 62 and vegan for 7 years. I’ve tried no salt/oil/sugar. That equals no taste. I’ve tried all fruit and craved savory foods. I’ve tried no bread, the starch solution, all raw, etc. Many times, I forced myself to eat these recipes or “experiments” to keep from wasting food. Fortunately, I came to my senses within a few weeks of trying these extreme approaches. I now try to eat as much (NOT exclusively) raw vegan food during weekdays and have cooked vegan food on the weekends. I take no medications and have perfect blood work. One thing about the “Starch Solution” and some of the other diets out here is that they don’t take into consideration what the body needs as it ages. My best friend and I ate a lot of starches upon going vegan. This was before we ever heard of Dr. McDougall. Starches like potatoes were eaten to feel full and beans for protein. But because we are older, starches caused weight gain. After ago 60, metabolism goes weigh down. My friend’s husband co-wrote a few chapters in Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s book, “Fast Food Genocide.” So we have been paying attention to a lot of the vegan/plant-based diets for over 15 years now. I like Fuhrman’s nutritarian approach. But basically, I try to make sure I’m getting enough nutrients for my age without gaining weight. And I also make sure that I am eating things that I like so that I can sustain my diet rather than forcing myself to eat a bunch of tasteless food and then getting discouraged in the long-run.
I hear you :) I am almost 44 but yes metabolism changes for sure with age. And I absolutely cannot stand not tasty food (that's why i made my own RUclips channel with delicious foods :) I am experimenting with raw food myself but not sure if i can do all raw all the time ...we'll see after my 90 day challenge lol. How do you manage to eat all raw all week and then cooked on weekends though? I think i would overeat that way... hmm ...
Definitely a part 2!🎉 thank you for highlighting how unhealthy these extreme diets are. I followed a couple of them and they made me feel like shit for not being as “disciplined” so I got rid. I love how you promote such a healthy, balanced & VARIED diet and you never push your opinions or lifestyle choices on others. This is what makes people watch, learn and make better choices. 😊
It took my eating disorder brain a damn long time to understand the importance of adding fats to my food to absorb all the good nutrients in there... Let me tell you I got PUNISHED by my body for removing all the fats; my skin turned dry as the desert and I got hormonal acne that looked like small bugs had bitten me all over my face and neck:) THANK YOU MILES once again for bringing some sense into this mad world!!
PLEASE DO A PART TWO!!! I followed Chef AJ and Healthy Emmie and got myself into an unhealthy frame of mind regarding food and what I eat. It helped to hear you say that these are extreme because they always make the comment that they think its crazy that people think that eating healthy is extreme.
omg yes, they've got broccoli mom doing the same, she's so over the top now, her titles are always what I eat for maximum weight loss or wie to make me think, she over excersise's to the point where she's hurt her knee and back, and if everyone comments she says I feel so sad that people think being healthy is restricted. plus her young children are watching this happen.
God, I can’t believe I followed Freelee and Durianrider to the point where I was adding coconut sugar to my 10 banana smoothies 🤦🏻 Please do a part two!
raise your hand if white sweet potatoes is your favorite food.. Miles: raises hand raise your hand if you eat sweet potatoes by the kilo daily Miles: raises hand Also Miles "There's more to life than kilos of potatoes" lemme fact check this.. false news
I DO think there is a difference between counting calories vs being aware of calorie density. Being aware of what type of foods have a higher calorie density can be very useful for people wanting to loose weight, or for anyone learning to regulate portion sizes, and can serve as a gateway to intuitive eating. It means, for example, that whilst eating an entire jar of peanut butter might not seem like a lot of food, its probably not a great idea for someone trying to loose weight. People who are attuned to their feelings of hunger and satiety will know this intuitively, but we have to meet ourselves where we're at. On the other hand, exact calorie counting is usually unnecessary, and often leads to obsession or harmful restriction.
I loved this so much! 😅 I’m a plant predominate eater, (pescatarian) since the 80’s. I love watching all kinds of people and diets. I enjoy getting food inspiration and hopefully some education. You just named the women who I diet hate watch! lol I was a personal trainer for 20 years, (I just retired) I am always blown away that these women have such a huge following. Hell, I’m shocked as shit that Dr. Esselstyn isn’t called out more 🤷♀️ Keep it up 👍
As someone who used to have binge eating disorder years ago, I would eat these types of videos UP as it allowed me to eat a f**k load of food without feeling "guilty". Except then I'd be hugely bloated from all the fiber lol and feel bad about my distended stomach.
@@HealthyCrazyCoolplease look at broccoli mom and how rigid she's becoming and preaching in one video about not meeting your family at a restaurant but meet in a apple orchard. and pick and eat fruit instead. 😮
Thank you!! Love this!! Struggled with my weight for so long high carb low fat vegan following these people and now I’m starting to add more fat and protein and I feel so much better and feel free!! I put on so much weight following Durianrider! Believed the whole sugar thing!! Thanks for sharing this video 🌱💚
So I have to stick up for chef AJ. She realized she was a volume eater so she eats large amounts of low calorie, high nutrient foods to fill herself up. I get your point about ED, but she is way better off and healthier than when she was overweight. So...I wouldn't throw her out completely. She interviews a lot of great people and I feel like she genuinely tries to help people.
Yeah, she is doing something that works for her. It's very restrictive and a lot of people can't stick to it, but if she eats differently she says she binges. I guess we all need to find what works for us!
Look, I do agree on some points you raise in this video. However, this is kind of easy for you to say these ways of eating are "restrictive" when you're a man who can eat a ton of calories, jars of nut butters etc. while still staying shredded. Some people are not that lucky. I'm a 5'2 lean and fit woman and I do have to be careful with the amount of fat I eat (or count calories) to maintain my weight. And I workout everyday.
I agree with you! Everyone is different! But T what they are promoting as a realistic, healthy long term diet is not at all realistic for most people! I’m not even talking amounts - I’m talking variety & not having to have such strict rules! I totally support people being mindful, doing what works for them - but not to this extent! 🫶🏼
Thank you Miles for bringing some sanity to all this! I really wish people who follow those accounts get to see this🙏 miss your videos always fuc**ng hilarious!!
As someone that had an eating disorder, I absolutely agree. When I was trying to “recover” and wanted to remain vegetarian, did I follow yours or UVs advice to eat the foods you enjoy? No, I wanted to listen to some of the crazy extreme “eat all fruit and steamed veggies” people. Because they said this was healthy. Was I gullible? Absolutely not, but I used these people to rationalize restriction. Creators that put these crazy diets out there know what they’re doing.
This might be too niche but does anyone remember a certain group of vegans that used to have cereal parties? Where they would literally just sit around and eat like full boxes of cereal 😂 of course they were eating full boxes of cereal because they weren't eating proper vegan meals throughout the day
Thank you for this!! I am Vegan but not a starving vegan…agree totally with your stance. Also, I am recovered from bulimia myself, and noticed today on healthy Emmie’s WIEAD today that her right hand had red, inflamed, scabbed up knuckles. I noticed that as she sat talking about her purple sweet potatoes at the beginning of the video . I hate to insinuate she has an ED herself but…..😢
This was very entertaining. Please do a part two! There is definitely so much obsession around food choices, and one that drives me a bit mad is the SOS free one. I just saw a short from Dr. B., the gut doc, who by the way has been a guest on AJ's channel, saying to eat some olive oil with your orange squash in order to absorb certain nutrients. Thank God!
Miles is angry !! The guy is angry!!😂😂 Absolutely loved the video! We need more people like you, brave enough to say enough is enough and name these people out there !!! Why is part 2 still not out !?😂 Part2 please ! Well done, you can be proud of you 👏 🥰
I think part of the draw to some of these people is the simplicity of their way of eating. I would love a part 2 that shows us how to eat if you’re trying to lose weight. Especially if you’re not a young, extremely active person anymore.
There are many good videos for that on my channel :) My point is even if you are not young & active & need to watch what you eat carefully - nothing has to be as restrictive as this, even if you just want to eat whole foods (esp in terms of fat) for regular people! X
Everything has to have a balance . I eat what I like , no animals because I don’t like meat. Sometimes with a good and delicious meal I’ll have a glass of red wine. Ah! I don’t like sweets but I can eat melted dark chocolate with fruits . I’m not a nutritionist but I think I have common sense.
I have tried the whole foods low fat thing and it was just so bland and depressing. I couldn’t do it. Maybe some people are volume eaters and it is what they need to stay healthy but I think most find better satiety with higher protein and fats. It’s certainly more tasty. I also follow a few on the diet and note they are always having to cut down even more as their weight creeps up.
I truly hate people that are "vegan" for weight loss, if that it your reason then it's not gonna last long. If you do it with commitment for the enviroment and compassion for animals suffering then it's really gonna last your entire life.
Definitely want a part 2! Emmie has actually said "let hunger be your sauce" because she not so secretly thinks sauces are a crutch and hinder weight loss with all those extra calories. Yeah, it's sad.
Thank you Miles for speaking on this. I actually quit veganism after following the diet of Healthy Emmie and chef AJ, because I started to lose my mind with anxiety and panic attacks, which I now believe it was due to lack of fats. Easing my way back into more plant-based meals, but with the inclusion of plenty of healthy fats.
Banger video as always and would love another one! I started researching health and nutrition and it's not that complicated really. Get your macros at each meal with some fruit and/or veggies and there you go. Plus water and listen to hunger/full levels which can be a bit harder lol
This makes total sense but I get stuck and worried about portions, like how do you know how much of each macro to physically put on your plate at each meal in order to be balanced without having too much than you need if that makes?
@@orang1414 I get that! And everyone needs different portions. Personally I don't worry too much and just go with "a cup of rice sounds good" or a 1/4 cup of peanut butter to go with my apple. As long as I have all macros for most of my meals I don't worry so the vitamins and minerals that need water or fat, there is some!
I once strictly followed chef aj and lost my menstrual cycle. I think her advice isnt necessarily bad but i wish she would give a clear disclaimer for who its for. That goes for anyone giving advice online. Like freelee she does very strenuous activity. With that being said some people have to be strict and stick to certain strict protocols.
WOW! Wasn’t expecting this at all, especially since I’ve followed the advice from a few you mentioned here. 😢Honestly, I don’t know what to eat anymore. I quit.
I’m glad this one has been called out. She has continued to lose further weight and is always putting her arm on the back of her chair to show her arms . It’s really bad
@@claire6568 I am actually very worried about her. She has absolutely zero muscle mass, which is extremely important as you age, and is already showing signs of developing a hunchback due to loss of bone.
@@Atheria444 agree. Evidence suggests that women (especially post menopause) actually have higher protein requirements as their hormones put them in a more catabolic state. I'm all for whole-foods (I eat mostly WFPB myself) but I don't believe in excluding/limiting essential macronutrients. I did the high starch/low fat thing years ago and had to eat so much to feel satiated and lost so much muscle mass. Nowadays I incorporate more plant-based protein (beans, lentils, tofu, tempeh, etc) and some fats (avocado, nut butter, etc) and feel so much more satiated from my meals. As a result I've gained muscle, lost fat, and have improved my athletic performance. I also worry whether she is getting enough calcium/vitamin D in her diet.
I was so not ready for the gun shot and blood spatter. Will i ever stop laughing??? This is so damn funny and spot on. Thank you. AND-oh man does Healthy Emmie drive me crazy. She's kookoo.
9:55 Agree so much here. I, as someone who has zero credentials for anything related to anything (college freshman), have done extensive amounts of research on many aspects of health, so much so that I'll bring things up to my doctor that she has absolutely no idea about. In no way am I saying I'm qualified to hand out health advice, but it does just go to show that a piece of paper isn't needed to absorb information into your brain.
Yo when you said, "Stupid people coming online, will find a community of other stupid people coming online" and you laughed I laughed right there with you bro. LOL
Miles, this is one of the best videos you have posted. Although I know some genuinely want to help others, until you are 1,000% mentally healthy, you should not be instructing other people regarding diet and nutrition. Instead of dealing with mental health, some online focus on food. I'm very worried about AJ.
nothing but truths here. like you say nothing wrong with eating healthy & all whole foods but why on earth this low in fat and so so bland! it's avoidance not recovery!
yes, part II. But you were sooo right on this one. They are out there like zombies . Go get them : Well your World, The Busy (cooking potatoes) Vegan Mom, Chealse Mae ....
Chelsea Mae doesn't necessarily promote restriction, she literally has a video on how you can still eat Domino's pizza, processed cookies etc and lose weight. It was also funny when some were upset when she used vegan chicken in her one soup recipe. Weight loss will always be about a calorie deficit and how someone goes about that will be different. Though she doesn't promote eating as restrictive or bland as Chef Aj or Emmie. Not really the same in my opinion. Also agree about Well Your World, they do show variety, though are actually even somewhat more restrictive than Chelsea since they'd disagree with her on eating Domino's vegan pizza or really anything processed since Well Your World is all about the SOS free way of eating.... so 🤷♀️
Also pretty sure Well Your World doesn't say to not eat fat they just say eat it in it's whole food form. Instead of olive oil eat olives and instead of avocado oil eat the avocado which isn't the worst advice in the world.
I agree a lot with what you are saying. Many people who struggle with disordered eating, continue with a type of diet that they consider healthy, but it may be a continuation of the disorder. I say this from my own perspective stemming from disordered eating. And, I just get so irritated by the demonization of oil in food. Makes me want to cuss a lot. Lastly, people...please season your food!
From watching her videos she seems like a really lovely girl, but I do feel she has an eating disorder... Especially her 'vacation' videos, she NEVER deviates away from high starch/low fat, even on holiday.
Ah man. Healthy Emmie is sweet but I feel raging depression coming on looking at her meals and thinking back on when I used to eat like that too.. and how I would feel like I wasn't yet "worthy" of eating avocado and nuts and even tofu, because I wasn't yet at my maintenance weight
Emmie has always grinded my gears, her and the twins Nina and Randa. Super bland foods and obviously very disordered eating. She went from her degree in teaching to getting a certificate to preach her diet she absolutely did not go to a college to get a nutrition degree (like I did). Just ugh. Thank you for calling her out, Miles.
She has certificate from IIN (Institute of Integrative Nutrition). It's a Health Coaching certificate, not nutrition, but she calls herself a nutritionist based on that certificate... which is not right.
@@jaminwaite3867 exactly. I actually studied the same certificate as her, but can't find anything anywhere that says we can call ourselves a 'nutrionist' as a result of graduating, and tbh I would NOT feel right saying that I am. Health/lifestyle coach... yes, but nutritionist? No.

I quit.
"I'd drink coke all day- like I wouldnt give a shit"😂 that's a real baddie
I dropped everything!! You have been missed my friend 😀😀🎉🥳🙌🏽
OMG, pls do part 2 hahahaha this video made my whole evening yesterday 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 it was like someone was reading my mind 🤙🏽😆
This should be an ongoing series.
Honestly, I agree sooooo much with this video!
Omg chef aj is painful to watch . but you made it brilliant 😅
Imagine having a fancy big kitchen and this is what you eat.
please make a part 2 and podcast while you are at it, tyvm!!
Thank you Miles! Part 2 please
I was so not ready for the gun shot and blood spatter. Will i ever stop laughing??? This is so damn funny and spot on. Thank you. AND-oh man does Healthy Emmie drive me crazy. She's kookoo.
Holy sh*t! Emmie's meals are scary. No spices?
9:55 Agree so much here. I, as someone who has zero credentials for anything related to anything (college freshman), have done extensive amounts of research on many aspects of health, so much so that I'll bring things up to my doctor that she has absolutely no idea about. In no way am I saying I'm qualified to hand out health advice, but it does just go to show that a piece of paper isn't needed to absorb information into your brain.
Omg… thank you for making this video Miles. You rock!
THE JOY I had opening RUclips and seeing MILES (not even past the intro as I type this)
Please please please do a part 2 🙏🏼
I think people beg chef aj to show them what she eats in a day. She definitely doesn't eat beans now though, she says they make her sick.
She's said this for a long time.
Yo when you said, "Stupid people coming online, will find a community of other stupid people coming online" and you laughed I laughed right there with you bro. LOL
haha, it's just too true tho x
2 days late - but YES to part 2, part 3, part 4 even.
Cant believe Tim Shieff didn't make the Cut !?
Yes, I agree, to anyone who said they want a part 2! When the video was ending I was like I want more!! Please do a part 2 to this!
Omg! The ex-vegans who told us to eat so restrictive then say …. I’m deficient. No kidding! 🤷🏼♀️🙄 Part two for sure.
Pleasee I want part 2, but also part 3, 4, 5 ,6, 7,.... 😆🙏
Miles, this is one of the best videos you have posted. Although I know some genuinely want to help others, until you are 1,000% mentally healthy, you should not be instructing other people regarding diet and nutrition. Instead of dealing with mental health, some online focus on food. I'm very worried about AJ.
She does seem extremely thin and almost a little frail lately!
I totally agree with you x
Sooooo good! Once again we’ll said! Part 2? Yup!
🫶🏼😉
So grateful for this honesty!!!
BRAVO!!! thanks for calling out these idiots!!
Thank you, I'd love a part 2 as well :)
Definitely would like round 2.
Roasting veggies in oil is the best part because they get all caramelized.
Very eye opening, please do a part 2!!!!! 😂
Would love a part 2 but would also love a video with other content creators that you agree with and like their diet
How do you even find these CRAzy ppl,I just can’t believe there are that many ppl who posts that and have a big audience ,it’s so depressing
OH NO NOT CHEF AJ
Prefer the nut butter reviews. I don't watch these other people.. if they make you upset, maybe you shouldn't either..?
Yes! Part 2 please!!
You make me feel less alone in this world full of stupid people 😅
I attempted "banana island " about 10 years ago and almost passed out at my job lol #thanksfreelee
Yes part 2 please this was hilarious 😆💚
nothing but truths here. like you say nothing wrong with eating healthy & all whole foods but why on earth this low in fat and so so bland! it's avoidance not recovery!
I have nothing against a WFPB diet (I eat it myself) but exactly not to this extent of limitations x
it is EXTREME and THE WAY THEY TALK IS ACTUALLY EXTREME TOO.
yes, part II. But you were sooo right on this one. They are out there like zombies . Go get them : Well your World, The Busy (cooking potatoes) Vegan Mom, Chealse Mae ....
Confused how Well Your World is a problem??
@@jaminwaite3867agreed. He and his wife don't promote only certain 10 foods etc. He eats quite a bit too and the recipes are yummy
Pt. 2 Please!
Plus love your what i eat in a day videos :)
Missed you, glad you are back ❤
Healthy emmie is looking shockingly thin
From watching her videos she seems like a really lovely girl, but I do feel she has an eating disorder... Especially her 'vacation' videos, she NEVER deviates away from high starch/low fat, even on holiday.
Yup! I binged her channel waiting to find a video about her esting disorder and nothing. She’s serious about it
Variety is life. Eat all the foods…
Ah man. Healthy Emmie is sweet but I feel raging depression coming on looking at her meals and thinking back on when I used to eat like that too.. and how I would feel like I wasn't yet "worthy" of eating avocado and nuts and even tofu, because I wasn't yet at my maintenance weight
PART 2! You’re awesome and spittin facts here 😎
Omg! I laughed so much and you are 100% right😂😂😂😂
Emmie has always grinded my gears, her and the twins Nina and Randa.
That’s why RD/DRNs have specific certifications. Anybody can be a “nutritionist”
No.
@@nicolemitsi that’s cus people like her use titles to persuade other’s by showing an “authority” title but that isn’t what they actually are it’s the same analogy how “MD”s trying to push that dumb carnivore diet when they aren’t even an actual doctor , but they know as long as they have an MD to their name gullible people will listen to them
Yes, please! Can't wait for part 2 :)
good points, well made. looking out for part 2
Refreshing to see you out here still calling people out on their bullshit 💛
I love tofu and veggies and avocado
I haven't seen you in awhile, fun video!
