ya I'm not sure who became obese from eating bananas... its one thing to dislike Durianrider but its another thing to say that low-fat fruit makes you gain excess weight...my mind could be changed though, I'm just not aware of anyone who this has happened to our any medical study that proves such a result
@@sergsfault It's ok if you sip it over a couple of hours, but it's easy to drink it fast which can cause problems for a lot of people. I was burping a lot from big smoothies and sometimes feeling bloated. Now I have them much smaller and it's a lot easier on my body.
@@williamsjashley yes but you shouldnt be a sheep and eat something just ebcuase someone on youtube told you!...you should never force feed yourself. force feeding or eating too much of enything causes bloating.....dont blame freelee. she always etas her big meals in a course of one hour. the only thing i dont agree about with freelee is adding sugar to her banna smoothie...that wierd
It’s just the amount of sugar in those 12 bananas that causes a problem. They’re naturally high in fibre and potassium which is great but those sugars present are also high when eaten in large quantities (such as 12, for example)
Middle eastern HERE having your back did you know that we have a candy made out of tahini? It’s dry tahini with sugar and nuts we have it for breakfast or dinner as a side dish *DELICIOUS*
Tofurky explained: It was one of the first fake meats/fake-anything-vegan-alternatives to become widely available. We were vegan for a long time when we finally found this "vegan-alternative." It's such a great company (as companies go) and the recipe has improved somewhat these days (although it's still pretty bad). We always have it on Christmas because we can't quit them (plus we've perfected the cooking method so it does not become rubbery). It's a loyalty thing. Repeat: It's a loyalty thing. If you were vegan years before it was easy to find things like tofu or soymilk (like we were), then maybe you'd understand a bit more how awesome it was to find a company like Tofurky and its unapologetic VEGAN stamp on a meat-alternative. Back then, when there was no popular understanding of what a meat-alternative was, when we had rarely seen a vegan stamp on anything, when vegan alternatives to anything were rare, when even simple vegan staples were hard to come by, finding Tofurky was akin to peace, joy, and vegan community manifest in a rubbery ball of faux turkey.
THIS is what sets you aside from every other popular male vegan channel! It's not just about your abs, you also got personality & a brain! (and looks to kill just to throw that in there) 🙏🏽 hilarious content as per usual :) X
Fabio119 just link some official studies showing we cannot get those vitamins :) b12 is quiet easy to supplement, vitamin k2 is available in natto, vitamin d can be obtained by eating dark mushrooms for example and should be supplemented even as a meat eater depending on where you live. Since our bodies have the function to convert carotenoids to vitamin a with the help of fat this one isn’t a problem either. And nuts and seeds contain vitamin f as far as I know, those sources of essential fatty acids do have a lower anti-nutrient content if they are soaked before consuming. Soaking also leads to more vitamin-availability. Thank you for your attention and please, stop spreading false information without giving any official sources that support your claims.
I find quinoa absolutely repulsive..... I've tried 4 different times and every time it tasted worse. If dirt could vomit, that's what it taste like....
Many people don't understand that Keto is used to help people who have very serious epilepsy that cannot be cured by other options. Similar, Low fat diets are also used for people with very serious health problems. If you're a normal person, you do not need to have such an extreme diet.
Except keto used medically is still riddled with very severe adverse effects. A low-fat, plant-based whole-food diet used therapeutically for heart disease and/or diabetes simply does not. Yes: some will (I would) suffer some side effects perhaps with complete limitation of nuts and seeds, but not adverse effects that include - literally - death. The McDougal or Esselstyn-style diets are not extreme, and not dangerous, and not necessary to be under medical supervision to use properly/somewhat safely and effectively as keto is. Keto, only medically appropriate for treating hard-case pediatric epilepsy and cancer patients (limiting/preventing tumor regrowth) in a focused short term, is extreme, and still dangerous even under the required medical supervision. The two should not be conflated, it's a false equivalency.
THIS. i never understand the low/high card or low/high fat diets for people who don’t have health conditions. i just find it strange. just eat the amount of nutrients you’re supposed to eat, and you’ll be fine.
Yeah vegan youtubers don't seem to agree with you, they all are scared of healthy fats. Not me I eat healthy fats a lot. 🥑🥜🌰🌱 Feel better when eating fats, full for longer and much more energy
100% .. But actually nearly all the bigger vegan channels are eating much more fat now and looking healthier than ever! so things are changing for the better :)
I agree, I've tried eating low fat for a short period and felt like I was starving. I also noticed that people who don't eat enough fat do look older and have very dry-looking skin, so that also discouraged me from doing that (my skin is a little on the drier side, so I don't want to make it worse). I also spoke to a nutritionist (she's not vegan, but she knows I am plant-based) and she said it's important to incorporate healthy fats into your diet, so I took that advice to heart.
Finally healthy fats start to be appreciayed! They are so important! I actually feel like haven't eaten without it. P.s I was silly one 5years ago to do rt4, no need to comment how it made me feel...
If u are fit and healthy then I agree fats aren't a problem, however I think that the issue with fats is more about oil as it is refined and high in calories. Also I think that fats can be problematic for some diseases, I have Rhumatiod Arthritis and if I eat too many fats even plantbased my joint will become stiff. So for me Dr McDougalls advice has been amazing.
Ok the moment I switched to the runny tahini brand my whole life literally changed I pour that ISHH ON EVERYTHING like why do people even try to sell thick nut and seed butters 😭
STOP how did I just discover you, you are so funny without even trying!!! Subbed and followed on Instagram and told my husband to watch because you are both so alike. Now I do disagree about rice though... that is very sad lol
freelee turned me vegan, 2 and a half years ago. I'm thankful that she opened my eyes, but I'm also thankful I still don't follow her line of thinking anymore.
Skinned boiled potatoes are a religion if you're Polish. It's the greatest live of all of us. + I'm leaving you a hate comment for the rice, cause I live on rice Still looove you
We have the exact same outlook on Freelee! Always grateful to her for turning me vegan. She did so much for spreading the message and people don't give her enough credit.
We always boil goji berries in broth/ soup. Or throw in a few in cup of hot/warm drinking water. It will puff up like a berry. Asian style. Not too much though, according to the packaging, no more than 12g a day. 😁
Shes not terrible.. and has many good points i just really disagree with her critique of mic. Hes a smart guy, and by recommending one of the most healthy vegan diets he's somehow crazy?¿ lol
I turned vegan because of unnatural vegan and she's still my absolutely favourite vegan youtuber #unpopularopinion 😅 She also opened my eyes about GMO and MSG and a lot other stuff I had "old-fashioned" opinion about. Don't get me wrong I just never bothered educating myself on those topics, it was more convenient to just agree with my family and not to put efforts into learning.
Gosh, thank you so much. I bought the Starch Solution and have been following the whole "the fat you eat is the fat you wear" advice. I'm hungry like 45 mins later after a meal with no fat or low fat! I can't do it. I need my tahini and peanut butter, pumpkin seeds, etc etc... Thank YOU. I'm not crazy, was starting to go crazy. I feel wayyyy better on higher protein and fat. The velociraptor comment had me laughing for about 3 minutes straight 🤣🤣
I thought I'm the only person who hate ripe bananas! I prefer even these with some green colour than overripe ones ^^ My whole family can't understand me... and they buy mostly spotted ones :,)
The wrinkly no fat thing is so true! Every person I see on RUclips especially vegan that avoid fat look so much older than they should. Also I gasped when you said you don't like rice 😭
"Here are a few examples." *Picture of Miles shows up as the last photo* Oh you. (I am one of those unluckly one who has lost their period due to not eating enough fat/calories in general. I feel dumb for following some stupid advice about low fat. Over a year and still waiting for it to return. Slowly adding in the seeds, nut butters and raw nuts back in )
Period loss categorically happens when body fat falls too low. You mention calorie restriction - this is really, I think, the root cause of vegan women having hormone issues. It's super challenging to get sufficient calories on a heavily raw diet, for instance, *unless* you're packing in both fruits (and denser ones like bananas) and overt fats. A starch-centric diet with ad-libidum amounts of, oh, oatmeal, potatoes, rice, beans, pasta (all of which except for rice we see Miles eat along with his gigantic greens and smoothies) will typically easily meet caloric needs while being satiating without oils (and, for a cardiac or diabetic patient, perhaps with strictly limited or omitted overt fats, yes). A few nuts, seeds and avocado should further keep the average woman's hair, skin and nails feeling fine if whole grains and legumes aren't enough... But I wanted to respond to this comment as a platform as well to respond to the video - I know Miles runs into this clinically, lack of fats seeming to be a problem especially for women, but I do wonder how many of those clinical cases are also under-nourished overall (not enough calories) , because I know this is common (and why people like that onision guy think they went protein deficient when he tried a vegan/largely raw vegan diet). Miles, if you ever address that (sorry if you have), I'll be interested.
@@hannahrl I am not a vegan. I am a vegetarian that does not consume any dairy. The only time I consume eggs/Honey is when they are included in the Gluten free Bread/Meat free products. I do not eat eggs/honey on their own. I am slowly no longer purchasing anything that contains animal products. The calorie restriction lasted between October 2017-March 2018. Since March 2018, I have been eating enough food and I am slowly going back to healthy weight. When I first started recovery, I also decided to quit taking the pill as doctors were curious to see if I did lose my period which being anorexic. Turns out that after quitting the pill for over 9 months, I still am waiting for my period to return. [Despite the fact I am now eating more healthy fats/enough calories] I have seen doctors about this and all that they say is "Come back in 3 months if it has not returned."
"Everyone is now afraid of eating a banana with less than 437 spots" LMAO, you got a new subscriber! LOL!!! On a more serious note, my grandfather owns banana farms and knows over 30 types of bananas. I've ate unripe bananas multiple times, growing up and they leave a rough feeling to the teeth which is unpleasant but I was only ever dying to brush my teeth.
When I first became vegan, I did hclf due to some popular vegans in the community. After a month, I felt like hell and did more research. Thankful for the few sane vegans on YT and Dr. Gregor.
I had no idea. I wasn’t really influenced by any vegan youtubers, but instead read books and watched documentaries over the course of a year and then made the switch. It was after that I began following vegan youtubers...Miles was among my first ones. I didn’t know who freelee was until he shaded her in a video 😂
I only found out about her when she was saying horrible things about meat eaters. I don't agree with eating meat, but treating others like that is absolutely unacceptable. It makes us look like crap and makes people less likely to even hear us out. I wouldn't want to talk to her if I was curious about veganism, but wasn't sure yet. Also her diet is absolutely inadequate according to scientific research. You can be healthy and vegan, but her advice is definitely not based on actual evidence.
Freelee certainly pushed me into going vegan, but I knew from the start I was never going to eat like her. I don’t actually like fruit that much (terrible vegan I know) but I found her honesty about treatment of animals very confronting
Freelee is incredibly problematic diet-wise, but I will always respect her empathy and compassion for animals. She makes a difference on that front. Absolutely.
A sandwich of Boiled white potato mashed with salt and olive oil and some herbs (ex.parsly) with pickled cucumber (arabic/syrian bread will make it even better in my opinion) is one of my favs meals, I seem like the only one who loves boiled potatos This video offended many of us but it's ok we all have flaws (I've never tasted peanut butter ) I'm a 20 year old girl and only 2months ago I tried sweet potato for the first time ever after watching your vids, and Oh My God have I been missing out on so much goodness 💔❤
I'm not a vegan, not even vegetarian however, you educated my about Tahini and whilst I really dislike it (it's a texture problem), it's the only thing that stops my teeth literally falling apart. I have a teaspoon a day to bump up my calcium, so thanks!
This is my FAVORITE FAVORITE video EVER!!! Oh my god, I stopped watching vegan RUclipsrs awhile ago bc I realized they were all bs. This is amazing. You're the best.
Isabela Rodriguez I like a good turkey sandwich I was trying to get on the vegan train so I bought some to try it omg I HATED IT I wish I liked it though 🤷🏾♀️
I am a new follower, hilarious engaging content! I had to stop and comment on the hating rice part. 😂 My hub is on board with you. He also hates pasta, he had the same parental force feeding trauma as you. Too bad so many kids have had to go through that with one food or another. I used to gag on mashed potatoes (I'm ok now and like them), and I used to chew on a bite of beef for-ever before I finally forced myself to swallow it. It was just a texture thing back then. Man, I love the video Melanie Joy made about the Secret Reason We Eat Meat. As a 55 year old woman who raised five children, I am so sorry and sad that I raised them to be meat eaters the same way I was raised. I have two of them who eat less meat now, but it breaks my heart to watch them raise another generation of meat eaters. Look at me getting all sidetracked from my original comment...
I love zucchini but don't like eggplant, so I totally understand just not liking certain veggies. And I only like tomatoes if they're cooked or in a sauce... Also, the whole fear of fats thing, omg, I love seeds, nuts, and nutt butters soooo much, and I even use oil in my cooking from time to time. Like sometimes I just want some oil on my oven roasted veggies, y'know???
Honestly the thing about youtubers "spreading their EDs" is sooo true!! When I went vegan I believed everything all those people were saying and everytime I ate a few more nuts or a teaspoon of PB more than I was supposed to I felt really really bad about myself. I mean it was my decision but if you have so many people telling you what or what not to eat with bangin bodies you believe them. Now I eat as much healthy fats as I want and......even use OIL!!!! As a European I have to use oil, like italian pasta for example is not the same without some high quality olive oil in it. And no sauteing your onions in water does not taste the same. It's in the recipe for a reason. Thanks for listening to my ted talk.
Sadly, although I'm thin, I'm 52...with blood sugar issues. (long time vegan) I've just had to accept...sniff, sniff...the fact that eating high fat DOES negatively impact my blood sugar regulation. I have to cut back on nut butters and avocados. :-(
Atheria PsychicGal you can get rid of diabetes by eating raw carnivore. Not joking research it. Meat eating might seem cruel but it's actually very natural. And just remember this, we're not ruminants.
catlover09 avoiding sugar doesn’t get rid of diabetes. You will still have the same problem as before, fat paralyzes insulin that’s the whole problem in the first place! If the drain is clogged(fat) then the water(carbs) ain’t going down pipe. You wouldn’t say “ well I turned off the water so now it’s fixed!” And no we are not ruminants we’re fruit eaters
I’d forgotten I’d subscribed to you, but as soon as you’d mentioned the ridiculousness of everyone drinking “healthy” sugar-filled smoothies and bashing healthy fats, I paid attention. I think it’s quite funny that you added your personal distastes in the video. I enjoy that you aim to dispel the myth of the joyless, restrictive vegan diet- you tubers like you help encourage me to eat healthier than I am, which is a diet lacking in the nutrient rich whole foods atm. Thanks.
The moment I saw "Tahini" flash on the screen I got worried I might get offended! There are two items of food that make me lose respect for people who don't like them - avocados and tahini, I agree about jailing those who won't conform. Have you ever tried halva? It's really popular over here 😍 You can make halva-inspired spread by mixing (unsalted) tahini with some silan (date syrup) or blending tahini with dates.
Velociraptor....lmao...Oh Miles you are such a jewel! I am so glad that the guy who turned me vegan has not only the brains but the sense of humor too! Can't wait for part 2!
Thank you on the low fat diet for healthy vegans. Speaking from experience, cutting out the plant based fats only makes me binge even more calories later on with those fats that I tried to 'avoid.' Fats keep me (personally) satiated and I don't go from extreme to extreme. I don't feel restricted, and I have stable hunger levels. :) Just eat carbs, proteins, AND fats, and you will be satisfied.
Fat you eat is not the fat you wear, but fat is an extremely calorie dense food, and since weight loss can only be achieved through calorie deficit - the more fat you incorporate into your diet - the more difficult it is to maintain caloric deficit. That said *some* fat needs to be incorporated, but it needs to be strictly measured and not exceed daily requirements. Like adding controlled portions of nuts and avocado - is ok, but eating fried food is just adding hundreds of unnecessary calories to your meal. Especially if you do not do 90 min HIIT training daily combined with lifting heavy weights and 10 km marathons.

How is your diet now?
The 12 banana smoothie was like the biggest successful hoax known to veganism.
come on 12 banans isnt much at all whats wrong with you people? its a great enrgy breakfast
ya I'm not sure who became obese from eating bananas...
its one thing to dislike Durianrider but its another thing to say that low-fat fruit makes you gain excess weight...my mind could be changed though, I'm just not aware of anyone who this has happened to our any medical study that proves such a result
I’ve never really liked freelee... but she was a big part of my transition to veganism. For sure
Middle eastern HERE having your back did you know that we have a candy made out of tahini? It’s dry tahini with sugar and nuts
we have it for breakfast or dinner as a side dish

We have that in marocco as well! Delicious🤤

Many people don't understand that Keto is used to help people who have very serious epilepsy that cannot be cured by other options. Similar, Low fat diets are also used for people with very serious health problems. If you're a normal person, you do not need to have such an extreme diet.
And which diet is the extreme one?
Low fat diets do fuck all and you can do keto without doing keto macros. Omad with protein and fat will keep you in ketosis.
THIS. i never understand the low/high card or low/high fat diets for people who don’t have health conditions. i just find it strange. just eat the amount of nutrients you’re supposed to eat, and you’ll be fine.
It's true. I was a teen watching Shane Dawson and Freelee’s response to him was the reason I went vegan.

Yeah, I've got about 20-25% or so of my calories from fat :)
Same here, eating fats I feel better
Tahini is life and that’s a fact.
Too much of anything is not good.
Yes!
It’s also an amazing source of plant based calcium!
Tahini on baked caramelized sweet potatoes or on fried ripe plantain slices.
I don’t like tahini...... unless it’s on strawberries 🤤
You turned me vegan like one year ago. Thank you:)
I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis and I notice adverse effects when I overdo it with fats as well.

(I am one of those unluckly one who has lost their period due to not eating enough fat/calories in general. I feel dumb for following some stupid advice about low fat. Over a year and still waiting for it to return. Slowly adding in the seeds, nut butters and raw nuts back in )
See a doctor
@@ameliorated i have seen 2 doctors about this and they won't do anything.
Just ate a sandwich with avocado, hemp seeds, and almond dip on it...ready for the fat to just plant itself on my body lol.

On a more serious note, my grandfather owns banana farms and knows over 30 types of bananas. I've ate unripe bananas multiple times, growing up and they leave a rough feeling to the teeth which is unpleasant but I was only ever dying to brush my teeth.
Unripe ( green ) bananas and plantains needs to be cook to be eaten .
Freelee "turned me vegan" or rather introduced me to it too, so I agree with you on that.
When I first became vegan, I did hclf due to some popular vegans in the community. After a month, I felt like hell and did more research. Thankful for the few sane vegans on YT and Dr. Gregor.

Ophelia Mendes nope you’re not the only one! I pretty much discovered her once her channel started dying LOL
I had no idea.

How you feel about rice is how my husband feels about oatmeal because he was force fed it during school and still have nightmares about it 😭
I am a new follower, hilarious engaging content!
I'm forty and been veggie for 20 years and only recently heard of freelee. I highly doubt 99 percent is a high estimate .. I think
Thanks for listening to my ted talk.

catlover09 avoiding sugar doesn’t get rid of diabetes.

Just eat carbs, proteins, AND fats, and you will be satisfied.
