    as a vegan, i love your channel. i’m the only vegan in the family. my parents live in Moçambique, they have many friends from brasil, and if you know brazilians, you know they can cook meat like nobody’s business ! i grew up eating flame grilled racks of cow ribs, seasoned perfectly, absolutely delicious. and funny enough, i don’t really miss eating meat. not at all. i enjoy cooking it still, i can definitely cook meat better than any other vegan because of how often i prepare it for my boyfriend or my family. i do eat vegan meat from time to time but honestly i’ve had some really good ones, not brazilian cow rib rack good but i have really enjoyed some. i hope y’all who read all this have a good day !

      @@exray49 i did it for health, and to look better in general. the amount of meat i had been eating was damaging my body. i had high blood pressure and was on the way to something more sinister. i’m glad i gave it up, as i’m not at risk for any conditions anymore. my blood pressure is normal and my body is healthy. i look like a different person to when i was eating meat. i’ve lost so much weight and my skin is like glass its so clear, i’ve never been considered “hot” or “attractive” until i became vegetarian. it was like an ogre turning into fiona.

    • @alexalikeamazon
      @alexalikeamazon Месяц назад

      @@chad_usa i know weight loss is all in a calorie deficit diet. although i was overweight, it wasn’t about the weight for me - i just didn’t want it be a dying meat addict anymore. i had heart issues and was on my way to diabetes and a heart attack. my doctors and dieticians advised me to go on a plant based diet to combat my health issues, and within a few months i had no evidence of ever being unhealthy- not a trace of any issues in my blood or with my heart anymore. and not only have i lost weight, i’m muscular and strong with an athletic build now. i get all the nutrients my body needs, i eat as much as i want because it’s all great food. i’m looking and feeling better than i ever felt before going vegan. it changed my life for the better, i did a full 180 and now i’m the picture of health. the meat was making me a sad fat dying mess, and now i know i’ll be living a long life instead of ending up like all these obese people dying every year from eating too much meat. it’s my personal choice to be vegan as well as to be a healthy person who takes control of what they put in their body.

  • @andrewshandle

    As someone who was a vegan for a short stretch years ago, I can say that by far the best vegan food is the stuff that doesn't pretend to be meat and instead embraces what it is. I never really understood the logic behind fake meat because it'll never been close to as good, and if anything just reminds people how great meat tastes. Think of it from the other direction, their isn't a market of meat products designed to taste and feel like fruit and veggies.

    • @greenfoliage
      @greenfoliage Год назад +213

      Agreed! Not a vegan but I have strong preference for vegetables. There are plenty of dishes in Asia that are highly flavorful, rich in texture, spicy or savory, and still vegan friendly. • @caffeinatedpossum

      For that end bit about the flavor stuff, that's mostly because we do live in a meat-dominant society. I for one am a meateater and highly prefer them to vegetables, but that's more of an ASD thing for me, very picky about textures and whatnot.

    To be fair, could imagine this working well in a sauced up pulled "pork" sandwich perhaps? I'm almost wondering what would happen if you sent it through a meat grinder and marinated the... umm, "meat" in something like apple cider vinegar with some garlic and onion powder, some mustard for tang + some hot-sauce. The main issue I see is that it's not just the taste but texture.
      As far as the "taste processed" part, that's 100% correct from what I've read. There's an article I read a while back that talked about how plant-based meats aren't that much healthier than their regular meat counterparts. They can use excess amounts of unhealthy flavoring additives to give it the texture/look of meat while lacking in the flavor department.

      ^this! I'm about to go over to sauce stache and try to get him to reach out to Guga. I have made some of the same vegan recipes Guga has and cringed at how bad he messed up the process. I have made some seitan that has fooled several of my carnivore friends into believing its meat. they know it isn't cow but they sit there and guess what meat it is. preparation and presentation are key. I am honestly tempted to fix some and ship it on dry ice to Guga with instructions

      No snark... have you actually tried any of his ideas? They sound good, and occasionally he makes something that almost looks like meat but they are too complicated to be worth the trouble (for a meat eater). Of course, he and his wife claim they taste exactly like meat because that's what vegetarians do. I stopped watching him just because I was never going to order all of his chemicals and spend hours just to satisfy my curiosity.

    I soak slices of vegan Celebration Field Roast in Bachan's Japanese Barbecue Sauce (the one in the blue bottle) and roast it and it's a great dupe for sauerbraten. You might like that one. It doesn't crumble when it slices.

    There are a million traditional, vegan recipes from all over the world that are delicious. I think most vegan cooks run into trouble when they try to make meat dishes instead of just making the best dishes they can with non-meat and non-dairy stuff--at least, that was the change for me in my own cooking of vegan stuff. This was a really fun video to watch!
