Michael Sattler’s story is a harrowing and profoundly moving testament to the power of unyielding faith in the face of unspeakable brutality. A 16th-century Anabaptist leader, Sattler dared to defy the entrenched religious and political systems of his time, championing adult baptism and a separation from state-dominated church practices. His beliefs, radical yet rooted in his interpretation of Christ's teachings, made him a target of fierce persecution. Arrested, tried, and condemned, Sattler faced one of the most excruciatingly cruel deaths imaginable-torture followed by burning at the stake. What makes Sattler’s story not only painful but profoundly powerful is his refusal to compromise his conscience. Despite relentless threats, physical torment, and the certainty of death, he remained steadfast in his faith. His courage was not born of recklessness but of deep spiritual conviction, a commitment to what he believed was God’s truth. Sattler’s martyrdom underscores the immense sacrifices made by those who fought for religious freedom and the right to follow their beliefs without coercion. It is a story that inspires awe and calls us to reflect on the cost of integrity and the enduring power of faith in the darkest of times. His legacy echoes as a clarion call for justice, freedom, and spiritual resilience...
We are deeply troubled by the events that surrounded the precious life of Micaheal Sattler and that of his beloved wife Margareta. We hope they are all in heaven and comfortably seated on the right-hand side of his kingdom...
Excellent overview of their lives, Michael and Margareta, both Saints of God! How humans could torture and kill other humans because of their spiritual beliefs is unimaginable! I cannot wait to meet these two courageous Saints in Heaven with all the other Saints and Martyrs!🙏🕯🕎👼👸🤴
The best known Sabbatarian Ana baptist leaders were Oswald Glait and Andreas Fischer, two scholars and theologians who had been priests before they joined the Anabaptist movement. Their positions reveal a comprehensive knowledge of Scripture-their only guide- and also of the Sabbath. The following is a summary of Fischer's understanding of the Sabbath as his opponent Valentine Crautwald presented it. "1. The Ten Commandments of God are ten covenant words in which the external Sabbath is instituted and included. Where the Sabbath is not kept, one trespasses the commandments of God and there remain only eight (sic) covenant words. "2. Moses, the prophets, including the apostles, who are teachers in the New Testament, all teach the Ten Commandments to which also the Sabbath belongs; therefore, one should keep it. "3. In the New Testament it is commanded that the Ten Command ments are .to. be kept; therefore also the Sabbath. "4. Christ works the commandments of God, which is the will of His Father, into believing hearts. He makes known His work, law, and commandment, to which belongs also the Sabbath of Moses, which one should keep. "5. The Sabbath [commandment] is one of the big commandments; there fore, one should keep it. "6. Through faith we establish the law, Romans 3; therefore also the Sabbath. "7. The first and oldest fathers [patriarchs] have kept the commandments of God, before Moses. Therefore, they had also to keep the external Sabbath, otherwise they would not have kept the Ten Commandments of God. . . . For this reason one should keep the Sabbath visibly [eusserlich] in Christendom according to the law. "8. James declares, 'If someone says he keeps the whole law but fails in one point he has become guilty of breaking all of it; he has become a transgressor of the law.' Pray tell, can or may the Sabbath be an exception? "9. Paul repeats the law, but the law includes the Sabbath, which is generally understood; and when the other apostles refer to one or two of the commandments they refer to the tables, the covenant of God. "10. Paul and the apostles held meetings on the Sabbath. "11. The Scriptures speak so often about the Sabbath; if I would have as many texts and passages about Sunday as there are about Sabbath, I would keep Sunday instead of Sabbath. "12. We believe with the Jews that there is but one God [Deut. 6:45], and salvation has come to us from them, and yet we are not Jews, why should we not keep the Sabbath with them? "13. Christ, the apostles, and all early fathers [of the church] have kept holy the Sabbath day. "14. Pope Victor and Emperor Constantine are the first ones who ordered that Sunday should be kept; it is also issued in the Decretal; but God instituted and ordered the [keeping of the] Sabbath. "15. All assemblies of Christians were held on Sabbath for many years after Christ's time. "16. The commandments of God stand and remain forever, Ecclesiastes 12; Baruch 4. Even if all letters would burn up, as the Jews lost the tables long ago, the Ten Commandments remain until the end of the world, because they are the everlasting commandments." 5 (We do not consider all of Fischer's arguments valid. Number 14, for example, is not a true historical statement, and number 16 appeals to Baruch, a book that does not belong to the Protestant canon of Scriptures, but in those days was included in the Bible.) As Seventh-day Adventists, we appreciate these spiritual forebears. They are a part of the people from all the ages who have wanted to be true to God's Word and who have honored His holy Sabbath. But although we are interested in establishing our links with the past, our primary reason for keeping the seventh day as the Sabbath is that it is scriptural. The Bible speaks only of that day as the day of rest and worship. We feel bound to the Word, including the Ten Commandments. We feel bound to honor the day that, since the creation of the world, God has set aside. "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus" (Rev. 14:12). www.ministrymagazine.org/archive/1987/01/sabbatarian-anabaptists
David Ross; you seem to know your SDA doctrine and dogma very well.. However, if any person were to compare your doctrine to what the apostles actually taught instead of taking snippets of scripture and using it to prove a dogma then those would find the holes in many if not all of your Sabbath statements.. First let me ask you this... do you start your car on a sabbath? If so then you broke the sabbath for you have kindled a fire! Does your family or wife cook on the sabbath? If so then you have performed work on the sabbath! Do you go to a restaurant to eat on the sabbath? If so then you have caused another including yourself to transgress the law! I hope you get my Point... Yeshua Ha Mechiach was the sabbath is the sabbath and always will be the sabbath! Jesus was and is the law! Jesus took all transgressions of the law upon himself when he died upon the cross... Past, Present and Future! So to say we must keep the law as the Hebrew Israelites did has and will make the sacrifice that Christ made of no purpose! The last sentence was a paraphrase of Paul the apostle btw! God bless and do not condemn a fellow believer in Christ if he does not adhere to your doctrine for it is clear that Jesus said and God the father has said... if you believe in Jesus then you shall be saved! John 3:16
@@braylan77 Yes, Christ Jesus is our Sabbath, our Rest, where, and how, we are made whole and complete. @@braylan77 / You Sir, are absolutely and summarily Wrong in your "judgement" or more correctly, the lack of judgement, in trying to pin fault on this person defending God's Law and Commandments! In most of your accusations, you may not realize what you have done but you have joined in the same false accusations as the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Religious leaders of Jesus' day ! One stipulation for keeping God's Sabbath that you point out has absolutely NOTHING to do with what is written in Holy Script and as Jesus pointed out to them in his day, were merely their traditions made up by man! You simply have taken what DOES NOT CONSTITUTE breaking God's Sabbath Commandment and falsely and ignorantly accused those who simply desire to honor God by their obedience with those Man-made traditions and doctrines!...and yes, I am a descendant of Jakob Hochstedler and was wrongly taught many things about Scripture because they simply passed down their man-made doctrines as well....however they also taught many biblically sound doctrines that I have kept because they are foundational doctrines backed up by Scripture! One thing I know for sure is that on separating from the Catholic Church, they did NOT go far enough from her, and God is revealing that in a very clear way in these last days as those who are being prepared for the most difficult times in history willingly cleanse our lives of every false and unclean way to pursue the Living God with all our hearts! If someone is trying to be justified by keeping the Commandments, then, yes, they are making a huge mistake......but if they are naturally being obedient to God after they have been born of the Spirit and of water, they are being true followers of Jesus as he said those who desire to be his disciple must do! Deny yourself, take up their cross of death to self-(-ishness) and follow him! You have no idea how you have become what Peter writes in his letters about those who have TWISTED Paul's writings as they do the other Scriptures! Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not be ashamed, RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH! BEWARE OF THE LEAVEN OF THE PHARISEES, FALSE TEACHINGS, THAT DO NOT GIVE HONOR TO GOD'S WORD! SCRIPTURE MUST HARMONIZE THROUGHOUT OR ELSE IT IS NOT BEING INTERPRETED RIGHTLY... The Catholic Church has much innocent blood on its hands. It is NOT the Church of Jesus.
How church of Christ come to the point that start killing people for different views?Or at that point it was not church of Christ but something else?
The catholic church was never the church of Christ.
The church of Christ believes the Bible literally.
