    My wife and I just watched this documentary last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. We are very much looking forward to Part 2 as that will include my family's history. My forefathers left Austria in 1755 and fled east and ended up joining the Hutterite Church in 1765. Several of my forefathers were leaders in the communities. I currently live in central Saskatchewan in an area where over 40 Hutterite families settled in the early 1900s. We are what is known as the Prairieleit. I am the lay pastor of the Emmanuel Church of rural Langham that was founded by our forefathers.

      Hello Ron! Wow, your story is so amazing! You are so right, the Carinthians from Austria will be centre stage in Part 2. It is so interesting that your ancestors were these great people! As well, the Prairieleit will be included in the Part 2. To my knowledge (and please correct me if im wrong) the Prairieleit are the subset of Hutterites who settled on their own individual farms, not continuing to live with the Hutterites in their communal colonies. And that the Prairieleit have assimilated with the Mennonites or other non-Hutterite christian churches. I would really appreciate if you could point me in the direction of some helpful Prairieleit resources, to learn more about them.

    WOW! I'm only 1:20 into this. I had no idea Hutterite numbers dwindled that close to extinction. My dad's dad's dad's family has been in America since 1605. But my dad's dad's mom was only a 2nd or 3rd generation American, because her Ancestors fled here to Pennsylvania in 1745, from Rhineland-Palatinate, Bad Dürkheim, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. Ironically, he ended up in South Dakota, which is where my dad's dad's dad lived, and subsequently, my (great grandfather and great grandma) got Married in Keremeos, BC, and settled in Oroville Wa in 1910. I'm anxious to learn all I can about the Hutterites.

    I have to say I actually agree with adult baptism. It makes more sence because that’s when a person can make a decision. A baby can’t. That’s just my opinion

    • @salyluz6535
      @salyluz6535 Год назад +3

      You’re also agreeing with Peter & what he said on Pentecost, and is also mentioned other places; Repent and y then be baptized. Obviously babies and small children have no idea what sin is so they can’t turn away from it; therefore this cannot apply to them. God wants to give us new hearts, and that requires His Holy Spirit doing a unique and individual operation to be done on each of our hearts, when we are ready to choose to follow follow Jesus. 💙🙏🏽💙

      @@salyluz6535 that is true i didnt know it was mentioned in the bible but your right if peter said repent and then be baptized then how can an infant repent. when all these religious wars started happening in the 16th century all over europe they all should have just looked in the scriptures to begin with. i know the catholics wouldnt even allow the common people to read a bible let alone they didnt read it properly i guess. its sad all what happened back then

      @@Pam1_2 :
      Yes, So much pain and suffering could have been avoided, if people really wanted to let scripture settle so many issues! I think it just did not fit in with the agenda of so many of the state churches. They saw it as a threat to their control over the people, in much of Europe at least.
      “Repent” is commanded many times in the New Testament, but on the day of Pentecost Peter connects it to preparation for baptism:
      Acts 2:37 “Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”
      38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
      Then in Acts 8 we read how God used the apostle Philip to bring the good news to an Ethiopian eunuch, the Treasurer of Queen Candace on his way back home to Ethiopia. This is how the good news first got to Africa. “35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.
      36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”
      37 Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”
      38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.”
      Near the end of His time on earth, Jesus gave a command to the apostles about teaching and baptism.
      Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
      20 “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
      How can you make a disciple of someone, then baptize them and teach them to obey everything Jesus commanded, if they are just a baby?
      We actually don’t have any example of babies or young children being baptized in the New Testament. I don’t see any reason to not just follow the clear example of scripture. 💙🙏🏽💙

      @@salyluz6535 thankyou for your reply yes I remember hearing that. That the Catholics were afraid of loosing control of the people the church fathers I mean. I had read a few books on the reformation too and I remember reading some of the holy Roman emperors were just executing people who turned away from Catholicism. It was overboard what happened. ❤️ thanks for the scriptures

    Can we get some more info on dem Amish birth rates

    • @cal_bnd
      @cal_bnd 2 года назад +2

      The most recent census suggests the Amish grew from 361,635 to 373,620 souls between 2021 and 2022. which represents a 3.3% growth rate.
      In comparison, Nigeria had a growth rate of 3.1% in 2006 when their fertility rate was 6.08, so I reckon that's around where the Amish fertility rate was for the past year - correct with the average 6-7 fertility rate the Amish typically have.
