Loving the way this is starting and can't wait to watch more of Avatar!
the sequence where Aang goes out of control and enter avatar state at the air temple.... that happen like in ep 3 or 4.... so its actually correct.
No worries, you guys probably forgot and remembered the scene where aang got mad at the sand bender and he did something similar.
This has been a great start to the series. It’s questionable if Aang could’ve stopped the Fire Benders, he might have been surprised and killed along with the other Air Benders.
The aang actor is half Filipino!
Most important thing ive learned about live actions is to never expect things to be a 1for1 adaption you have to go into watching it expecting changes here and there and you'll enjoy it way more for what it is
What I`ve found is most online "Fancritics" fail to understand that an adaptation of a medium such as animation or comic books or novels or plays to another such as live-action film is not the same as a direct translation of source material, both work in different instances. The 2010 film didn`t fail because it did things differently than the cartoon, it failed because it was a bad film on every level!

I don’t mind the changes in my mind it’s just creates another timeline if you don’t like it you can watch the original it’s just something fun and a different telling of the same story
@@austinseaman1913SAME! Like I actually quite enjoy most of the changes, none of them mess up my experience of the show, so I wish they did a few things different, sure, but I bet they did what they could to make it more the best they could without making it an exact replica.
Why do people always waiting for 1:1, the most important part is to do their own thing giving an honor and doing justice to the OG. Btw part of the plot stays almost the same with changes and additions, there are scenes who are similar to the cartoon if you know you know
35:55 Assuming Aang DID have the power to defeat the firebenders that attacked his home in the avatar state, he wouldn’t have been able to control it. Meaning, he probably would have killed just as many airbenders as well.
And later in this show (I forgot the episode🤣) he explained that even in his training, he cast his air bending and accidentally push other students hanging on the cliff and yes it’s basically almost killed them.

I’m on episode 6 and this Avatar live action performance is amazing, the acting, sound effects and music are top notch and I’m loving this adaptation, Avatar will get way more popular because of this.
I'm glad you liked it, and that someone enjoys it, and hopefully more people will come to the cartoon fandom and watch it. I on the other hand did not find it with the "avatar feeling" that we get from the cartoon. The One Piece live adaptation gave me that feel as a long term fan of the anime, because even if I thought some of the characters didn't look like i thought they would, they nailed their roles and gave the personality of the animated characters. I didn't get it from these actors, it felt so forced on the acting part, and I saw so many faults from the wigs and makeup, and their clothes and CGI that it did make me sigh a bit. Makes me sad, because I love the cartoon! I do hope to see the kid actors in other things in the future, as I think they would do really great in other roles and such! This is just my opinion of the show, and it still makes me happy others enjoyed it so much!

I think what could have made the assault on the Southern Air Temple hit even harder is if they showed all the Sky bison helping fight and getting burnt too, I think that would have added another layer of emotion for the viewers because we know Appa is the last Sky Bison too and would fight to the death for Aang.
watched it fully and honestly, it was put together well for having to fit an entire season into 8 episodes, a lot more backstory, Zuko got more lore shown in season 1, they tied together episodes with other episodes in different time settings but made it work, even a few things from season 2, i loved it i would say they couldn't have done a better job, people will critic it with biased opinions i would still give it a 10/10 for making it work.
I 10000% agree with you, those who are being overly critical need to not compare the whole story to the animated and think of it as a remix.
This the more darker serious version of what the already epic original could’ve been had it not been focused on kids and teens.

Even if some people don't like this series it's not the end of the world for me. Even though I enjoy this series I do have some nitpicks here and there. Overall though I thought it was just fun to see a live action avatar and this is coming from someone who despite growing up during the time the show was airing didn't watch it at all as a kid and isn't as big a fan as a lot of others are.
In watching live adaptations, as long as everything makes sense in its own plot, viewers must always have an open heart and an open mind

I thought they said it was going to be very serious. I was expecting the extermination of the armbinders to be very disturbing. There is no serious tone of game of thrones they said they were going to do.

Nah sokka’s sexism really wasn’t that important to the story. I actually felt like sokka was one of the best executed characters in the adaption
I'm going to be honest I just rewatched avatar and.... yah that was my biggest mistake . I'll probably have to watch the live action in 2027 if I actually want to enjoy it without noticing the bad aspects

No it doesn’t give firebenders the ability to fly. Azula first use her fire to fly in the end of the Boiling Rock episodes
No lol. It give firebenders power to use stronger flames to propel them. Very powerful firebenders can do it without the comet.
Explaining how the fire nation actually managed to get a sizeable enough force up to the air temples quickly enough to surprise the Air Nomads so they couldn't escape has always been a major unexplained plot hole. Flame jets make as much sense as any other explanation.

@danieln6700 it's never explained. And just climbing never seemed right to me- an army large enough to wipe out the Air Nomads climbed up in a single day with out the Air Benders being able to see them and flee? Not likely.

Aang would have either died or killed not just fire benders but air nomads cuz he had no control
Also, the avatar has not yet learned lightning redirection, which would be fatal fo if Sozin used it. Looks like destiny needed the avatar to learn lightning redirection, discovered by Iroh and passed along from Zuko.

The only thing that makes no sense is How did they kill all the air nomads spread around the world (all the temples takes days to travel whilst flying even) in a single night? okay they beat the southern temple where aang was. Well the comet had to of been gone by the time they reached the other temples.
They said in the show that it was the comet festival so most of the other air temples you talked ab was therr in attendance. I'm assuming they haunted as much of rest as they could

I get it, but that also adds an extra $10,000+ and 10h+ on VFX work just to get every actor have visible breath 😂

Indeed the creators left the project cause Netflix changed a LOT important stuff . Won’t spoil everything but Sokkas childishness and his sexism was cut due to the fear of cancellation .
Watched all 8 Episodes. My score for the series is a 9/10 across the board. Definitely recommend, will be showing and watching with my 8yr old daughter once she is home from school on Friday and over the weekend.
1) The air nomad deaths are shown, so to adults, watch first 20 minutes before kids. Otherwise kids can watch once Aang is in ice.
2) This is not a copy of the original. 8 Live action episodes to tell story of 20 cartoon episodes. Episode 6 of original cartoon looks like it will be in season 2 of the live action. Season 2 episode 2 of original cartoon is added into season 1, instead of episode 6.
3) The first episode is the first 3 episodes together with the deaths of the air nomads.
4) Original cartoon Episodes 4, 5, 7-10, 12, 13, 15, and 17 have their essential episode essence represented, in episodes 2 through 6 of the live action. A lot of things are re-ordered. Some things are expanded. You will see parts of things from a recognizable episode mashed with events from other episodes.
5) Watch the entire thing BEFORE judging. Sometimes you will think something was forgotten only to learn, that the other parts or viewpoints of a given episode are in a follow-up episode. The way the episodes are mashed together means the story jumps between events of various episodes, so the representation of one episode might occur across 2 or 3 episodes; or there may be an intervening episode.
6) Do Not PreJudge. The format is different than the original cartoon, initially the order will seem odd. Just hang in with it, overall it does work.
7) Episodes 11, and 14 are not shown, but pay attention anytime Zuko, Iroh, or Zhou get a report. The events of those episodes are mentioned but it’s a one time blink, or talk and you will miss it. These episodes have indirect representation in the series. The honorable mentions in the reports made me laugh while watching.
8) The Jeong Jeong part of Episode 16 might occur in season 2, or 3 without Zhou. Jeong Jeong is not in season 1 of this live action. He has not been cast yet.
9) The last 2 episodes of the Netflix Live action have been mashed together, the mashup reorders the events of original cartoon episodes 18-20. The Katara vs Paku fight is Wow!
10) Koh will appear far earlier than expected. and not when or how fans expect. He is still a creepy, freaky, and dangerous spirit. They expand Koh’s role to include some of the lore with him from the comics as well. He is voiced by George Takei (Sulu from 1966 Star Trek).
11) The original voice actor of the cabbage man, plays and is, the cabbage man in this Netflix live Action series!!
12) The previous 3 avatars and ocean spirit La, at points will be given permission by Aang to use him as a channel. Kyoshi is obvious. Many people apparently missed when Roku did so. Pay attention, do not miss it by talking or by being distracted by what Roku is showing and teaching Aang. Kurik will refuse. La’s turn is OBVIOUS.
13) Azula’s machinations are definitely as evil as Ozai’s. Yes Azula learns lightning bending before the end of season 1. She is far darker than the original cartoon.

Out of everyone, I feel like Katara’s actress is probably the weakest. She’s not bad but she feels very hit or miss 😅 But overall I’m enjoying the show 👏🏼💯
Remember that these are 45 to an hour episodes compare to 20 minute episodes so the pacing may feel a wee bit odd but overall its pretty close to the pace of the cartoon.
